Il-2 Sturmovik, Blitzkrieg, Silent Storm S2, and other War & Strategy games 60% off

This weekend, our [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/back_in_the_ussr_weekend_promo_16_11_12]"USSR Invades! War & Strategy Games" promo storms your screens with a tactical advantage of a 60% discount! GOG.com HQ has planned this sudden strike for weeks, and to ensure a totall victory we've allied with the Russians, and former Soviet republics. After all, it worked like a charm during the final days of World War II, and those developers and publishers excel in strategy and war games. Let's not waste time here and see what arrived in the reinforcements package from Russia (and former Soviet republics), with love.

For air support, we've got Il-2 Sturmovik, a highly praised title coming from the (sadly) almost extinct breed of realistic military aircraft simulations). Armchair generals will be extremely satisfied with Blitzkrieg Anthology and Blitzkrieg 2 Anthology--two feature-full RTS titles taking the realistic and historically accurate approach to the famous campaigns of World War II. Or if you like something less serious, but maybe even more challenging, try S2: Silent Storm Gold--a complex turn based strategy set in an alternative time-line, where the German Nazis excelled in technological advancement.

We're also happy to announce, that and [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/soldiers_heroes_of_world_war_ii]Soldiers: Heroes of World War II--two games that gone MIA for a little while--have made their way back safely into GOG.com catalog, and are reporting for active duty. Just in time for the promo!

Do you doubt the military (gaming) potential of Eastern Europe? Head out to our our "USSR Invades! War & Strategy Games" promo page to see at least 17 titles proving that it should not be taken lightly!

Last, but not least--here's our video summary of the week. In case you missed it, here's what's new!

No panzer love for the armchair generals?
Still, a very good selection, make sure to pick up Silent Storm and UFO: Aftershock if you haven't yet, then visit StrategyCore for a few mods for those games.
Been waiting for Star Wolves!
Its as if GOG has peered into my soul (and wishlist) and put everything on sale!

Ooooh this is going to hurt! :)

The words Im trying to say is - Thanks GOG O_O
Speaking of "Russian" games, when is Hammer & Sickle going to get on GOG, Nirval is already here
I don't like 1C as a publisher.

Cool I have all but 5 so I'll grab 4, I'd never thought about the Blitzkrieg games before but they don't look too bad. Only game I won't get is "IL-2 Sturmovik™: 1946" I have the worst record with flight sim type games. I have no sense of direction and landings always end in tears or flames.
Great to see that Perimeter and Soldiers return back to the catalogue, hopefully there will not be any other MIA cases or even worse... RIA (Removed in Action) casualties on the battlefield out there

Liking any of the Russian publishers requires enormous beer+vodka goggles.
Own 3 games from that promo. Nothing else is on my wishlist at the moment. Skip.
Woohoo! I'm so getting the Blitzkrieg games, S2: Silent Storm and Etherlords.

All others I already have, in a form or another (e.g. the Cossacks (1&2) and American Conquest games from DotEmu).
Anyone have any ideas what the upcoming game they hinted about in the video is?

Well, apart from the fact that they are the only publisher that still uses Starforce, they are one of the last big publisher who make regional publishing contracts which prohibits Eastern Europeans from actually buying Steam games on Steam.

They are what the dreadful late '90s and early '00s of PC gaming where all about. Dreadfull DRM, shitty regional versions, restrictive contracts, etc ...
Also: Everyone make sure you get Silent Storm gold and Blitzkrieg anthology, they really are superb strategy titles
