Heroes of Might and Magic series, Farcry 1&2, Prince of Persia series, Settlers 3, and many more Ubisoft games 50% off, until Tuesday, May 21 at 3:59AM GMT

So, we've heard you like variety. We can relate, everyone loves browsing and picking their favorites. That's why we thought Ubisoft catalog would make for a terrific weekend promo. You can pick and mix from a selection of about 40 [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/ubisoft_weekend_promo_170513]Top Ubisoft Titles, 50% off this weekend. Games of all age, shape, and size await you in the promo page. Whatever your taste in games might be, you'll find something nice and exciting to make your weekend more entertaining. Let's take a quick look at one or two titles, shall we?

Heroes of Might and Magic is a game series so prominent, that it surely needs no introduction. In fantasy turn-based strategies it's quite hard to find a match for this legendary saga that challenges our strategic and management skills since the year 1996. Based on the successful setting of the fan-favorite classic cRPG, Might and Magic, it achieved a great balance between accessibility and complexity that resonates perfectly with gamers. After all these years Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete Edition is still considered by many to be the perfect 4X turn-based title. Some fans, however, prefer the more modern Heroes of Might and Magic 5: Bundle, that takes the beloved mechanics into the beautiful realm of 3D graphics. That's only two titles, though. All of our Might and Magic games, strategy and RPG alike, can be found 50% off in the promo page.

and [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/far_cry_2_fortunes_edition]Farcry 2 introduced a new quality to the First-Person Shooter genre. With large, seamless locations, varied environment, open-ended gameworld, and a healthy dose of realism (just enough to make the combat believable, while keeping it entertaining and fast), it gave the shooter fans the best kind of story-driven sandbox experience. It's also worth noting, that the graphics in both games look excellent even now, years after release. If you enjoy FPS games, these two undoubtedly belong in your GOG.com DRM-free collection.

Right, let's stop here. We don't want to spoil the excitement of discovering what other gems await you in the promo page. Well let you find out that games such as Assassin's Creed: Director's Cut, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, and Rayman Forever are also 50% off this weekend all for yourselves. Ooops. Let's just pretend that didn't happen. You should go to the promo page, now. The promo lasts until Tuesday, May 21 at 3:59AM GMT.

Licurg: Heard it being compared to Soul Reaver, how accurate is that ?
Um ... no idea where that is coming from, apart from both being action adventures. I don't see any other parallels, sorry.
I didn't like Soul Reaver much because they dropped Kain as the playable character and made the MC a "good guy". Yeah I know whatshisface wasn't a good guy but someone who was betrayed, but it's still a "fight evil with evil" type of story. Blood Omen was memorable because you played an almost unequivocally evil character, and your goal was to kill the human race and convert everyone to vampirism. When's the last game where you actually got to play an evil character that ISN'T an anti-hero or a "fight evil with evil" scenario?

Leroux: If you like action adventures I can recommend it. The plot, the villain and some of the characters in the game are pretty clichéd, but the heroine and a few of her friends are special and likeable IMO. The graphics are colorful and pleasing to the eye, the soundtrack is nice enough and the gameplay is varied and fun. It involves fighting, sneaking, racing, light puzzle solving, searching for collectables (you earn money for taking photographs of all the different species you meet), and a few minigames. Not as great as Psychonauts, but overall a very good action adventure with some quite original ideas. Definitely worth checking out (unless you're allergic to the genre).

It has more gameplay variety, quite a lot of stealth parts that are sometimes hard and a pain in the ass (not impossible though). There are even driving parts. And it has that nice saturday morning cartoon feel to it like psychonauts.

Licurg: How good is Beyond Good and Evil ?
Very memorable game, fantastic environments, memorable characters. Reminds me of Psychonauts, but they're both somewhat different.
cheers all - HoMM3 it is....
Splinter Cell is worth trying out, but...... just a quick warning.
Although Splinter Cell is fully playable and functioning. The version used here and on other sites has a problem with the Thermal Vision on modern OS's. Works okay in '98.
The same issue is on the retail disks too.
There are some work arounds, but nothing concrete from GOG or any other site. So do pick up the game, but if you activate Thermal Vision you can end up crashing the game out.
Hmm was about to get a couple of games, seems the Australian dollar is dropping. Might wait a day or two see if it goes up.

Maybe our Reserve Bank's idea of dropping interest rates actually worked. They'd hoped that by dropping rates people will go borrow money, thus increasing national debt and therefore scare foreign investors from buying our currency. Thus helps our export market and reduces imports due to higher foreign currency. Still seems odd to me that you'd want your country to screw it's economy through long term high debt for short term trade balance. But then again I'm not an economist or a wanker (sorry meant banker).
Shit I bought homm5 a couple days ago, fuck. I hate when that happens, LOL.

Yeah I noticed the dollar has been weaker against the USD lately, last year I could spend $10 on GOG and it'd be 9.50 in AUD, now it's more like 10.24
Sadly got all i wanted from earlier sales etc no sale for me this weekend.
Still refusing to buy Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon due to missing expansion packs. I have the retail versions already, with expansion packs. Naturally I'l like to have copy-protection free versions too.

(Hmm, I wonder if the retail expansion packs could be used with the GOG base versions?)

I got Imperalism 2 and two the newest Settlers games instead. Now I have all from the promo except the aforementioned tactical shooters.
Thanks GOG! You just blew a gigantic hole in my wallet! Grass and tree barks for meals now then... ;)

Robbeasy: Prepare to point and laugh....

Never played a HoMM game....
I think I am the same. I thought I had sometime in the past played HOMM 1 or 2, but I think it was actually Warlords 1 or 2.

Never had time or urge to play them, even though I've owned many of them for a long time.
I bought two of those games on Wednesday. Anyone have a gun? I need to shoot myself. :P

Can anyone give me their take on POD and Speed Busters? I'll probably get them anyway but I was just curious about popular opinion.
