Get Master of Orion 1-3, Alone in the Dark 1-4, KKND 1&2, and more endangered Atari classics 65% off!

Out of all gaming industry brands in existence, Atari always was one of the most recognizable and respectable. For over 40 years the name has became inseparably associated with unpretentious gaming fun. The amount of progress a single company can bring to an industry is simply astounding. From game cabinets to home consoles, from 8-bit classics to recent blockbusters, from engineering to publishing--the company was always in the center of it. It's unlikely there are many gamers who weren't saddened by the news of company's trouble. Whatever happens now, we should hope that it will emerge victorious once the dust settles, as it did numerous times before. Gaming legends are forever, so today all there's left to say is: [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/atari_weekend_promo_120713]Thank you, Atari!

The entire Atari catalog on GOG.com is available 65% off. tarasis: Any chance Appeal might provide any future updates like an official high res patch?
That's a question better reserved for the folks at Appeal, in my personal opinion :D

TheScorpion: Question, what happen if a game you bought is no longer sold by GOG?? Do you still have the chance to download it?? Do you get a refound?? Or is like... you better make a backup...
avatar
JMich: So far, all removed games remain available in your library to download. Only exception is the Mac version of Imperial Glory, since GOG didn't have the rights to sell it. If you do have a local backup though, it remains yours to do with as you like.
So there was an exception. Maybe THAT is what I was thinking about. Anyway I successfully downloaded all the Atari tiltes. It was only like 22 - 23 GB. It is sad seeing what was once GT Interactive ending up like this. The worst case scenario (barring people being unable to download games) is if all of these games dissappear from GOG's library. That would be a major blow to GOG. Especially if it all was to happen at the same time.

Of course Outcast is out of that danger and I am sure that at least one of the other games will stay on GOG.

JMich: Today Atari has an auction for most of its IPs, since it has declared Bankruptcy. So GOG was doing a fire sale, since it's not certain if all of Atari's titles will remain on the site. GOG will have to renegotiate with the new owners of the IPs.
I am aware of the Atari auction. However, I assume sufficient legal agreement remains in place that the current software remains avaliable for some time even with a new buyer but may not be subject to renewal. ...Or should we expect a wholesale removal of all Atari product once new buyers are confirmed?

Do you mean that GOG never had the rights to the MAC version but accidentally sold it or that they subsequently lost existing rights but as an exception for some unusual reason removed it from previously purchased libraries? What reason would there be for Imperial Glory Mac being handled differently?
Does any one have the link with the auction dates?

Thanks a lot, so Rollercoaster Tycoon and Test Drive were supposed to be sold today. I guess we will be seeing updates on that soon.
Well, the press release mentions that the sale won't be completed until early August, but I imagine some of the info will be "leaked" during this week.

That only means that the legal transfer will take effect on that date. I doubt there will be the need of a leak Atari and the buyers will announce the results.

Best reason we've found so far is that they never had the rights to sell the MAC version. It wasn't a ported one like usual, but a native one, which was handled by a different company (Feral Interactive I guess).
Sorry for the necro, but I wanted to let you guys know that the Star Control series is safe and will remain on GOG :D
