Get all Sam & Max seasons, Tales of Monkey Island, and more fantastic Telltale adventures 85% off!

Welcome to our [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/telltale_weekend_promo_190413]Telltale Crazy Sale! Before your head explodes from the abundance of awesomeness, let's try cooling you off with a piece of back-story. Point-and-click adventure games are one of the most prominent and characteristic genre in PC gaming. Yet somehow, there was a point in the history, when classic adventure games were considered an endangered species. Fewer, and fewer of them came out each year and this once abundant stream started to dry out. Partially because of the transition from 2D pixel graphics into the polygonic realm of 3D, partially because of the flood of flashy action games providing more and more immersion and interactive action, as opposed to the generally static gameplay of adventure games--the genre wasn't doing very well. The new adventure titles pursued gimmicks and trickery to make themselves more appealing to the "new audience". Indeed, the future of point-and-click adventures looked quite grim for some time. But then, some industry veterans with a good sense of direction and understanding of adventure gamer's soul, launched Telltale Games. The adventure gaming community sighed with relief. All was good again.

Today, we celebrate the successful rebirth and current prosperity of the classic adventure genre by running the Telltale Crazy Sale, featuring such fantastic titles as Sam & Max Save the World, Tales of Monkey Island, and Back to the Future: The Game (and more!). The whole seasons of Telltale's fabulous games are available 85% off for the whole weekend! If you love point-and-click adventures but the price tags kept you from enjoying some of the best of them, it's your lucky day!

The offer will last until Tuesday, April 23, at 9:59AM GMT.

grviper: Do TT charge more for mac versions?
No. In fact, a purchase through Steam or through TT's store on their site provides you with both versions at no additional cost.

deonast: Good point, I just went and checked to make sure I'd already bought them and hadn't missed out.
avatar
Johnmourby: So did you get them in time? I hope you did as they're good games and hopefully like Perimeter they will return someday.
Yep, I originally had them on CD at some stage never got around to playing them, must have got rid of them in a round cleaning up, then bought them again on GOG and still haven't got around to playing them. I had to expand my storage on my server the other day it seems I have 920GB of game installers and associated game files now just waiting for attention.

I hope they come back so you can grab them. Wonder what happened maybe the games owners sold their catalogue to someone or more likely went out of business (happening to a lot of game studios over the last few years)

Johnmourby: I just noticed that the Dark Fall games are no longer available on here (luckily I have them on disk). We need some kind of announcement for when games leave the catolog as well as joining.
Thank you.

There was no way to give warning on this, do a search on Dark Fall/ Boakes to find the General Discussion thread on the whacked-out way the whole problem arose.

I just checked the game cards for those, I always save the page with my game download (not sure why) seems the game was via XXv Productions / JoWooD so I'd say with JoWooD going under it has probably messed up GOGs deals to get the game. Note I'm sure I remember a promo for some JoWooD games on GOG a while back I'm sure it was an attempt to sell prior to losing them though can't remember if these games were among them.

deonast:
The Dark Fall removal was recent. A couple of links about their removal:

JoWood games came back as Nordic games. The author of these two games says that Nordic doesn't have the rights to sell them.

Yikes that does seem messy.

wpegg: This is sickening.

Telltale operate by only selling their games through these promos (no-one would pay full price for what they sell). It's upsetting that GOG are playing a part in this.
Given that most comparable adventure games are priced around $20, $30 or $35 for games 4+ years old does seem a bit high.

I think the Telltale games were 80% off during the holiday sale. Then, a few of them (BTTF, Sam & Max seasons 1 and 2) were 80% off 3 weeks ago. Now they're all 85% off.

If Telltale wants people to wait for 80% off discounts to buy their games I guess it's their right, but I agree that their full prices are inflated.

I bought them at I think at half price which I found only just acceptable as what I thought their normal price should have been. Definitely over priced when not on sale.
I have no problem giving GOG and the developers their monetary dues, but there are limits
But as always when a game is too high in price, you know if you wait long enough it will get cheaper on sale.

Stil, 85% off, 3 to 5 $ a game IS pretty cheap, wouldn't you agree ??? Especially for game of this quality, no ?

I agree that it's a cheap game, however GOG have refused other games from being included in the catalog because they didn't feel the price was justified. It annoys me that GOG are supporting TellTale's sales strategy of massively reducing a massively overpriced game in order to be able to advertise a headline sale figure of 85%.
A crazy sale, indeed! Unfortunately for me, I already own all of the games. (

At least I have the consolation of having spent my money on GOG.com.

Not to mention that one of the GOG guys has officially stated at one point that they wouldn't do something like 75% off. So much for that. Oh well.
Great sale! Picked up Back to the Future myself. It was the only one I didn't already own.

Buenro-games: How I wish it was Microsoft if only to have available a copy of this long lost game: Close Combat II: A Bridge Too Far

I have played way too many games in my lifetime but that game will forever be the one that represents nirvana.
There are those guys who are basically releasing enhanced editions of all Close Combat titles. Matrix Studios, if memory serves me right. But their prices are ridiculously inflated. Still have my old CD of A Bridge Too Far. Some great memories tied to that game.

I already bought these games on the last crazy sale as well so I guess I will just have to spend my money on delicious food instead.
