haydenaurion: So you liked Lands of Lore 3? I got the impression it was a somewhat bad entry in the series from reviews on the net I read which is why I was a bit cautious of getting that one.
Well, it's no Morrowind, but I didn't find it as bad as everyone else. Remember I did say I liked U9 though! lol

Things I liked about LoL3:
- You can gain access to your own Familiar
- You can join a Guild (that's where you'll get your Familiar)
- Some pretty interesting puzzles to solve
- Really easy interface
- Good atmospheres for the time (especially the lighting)
- Decent (if a bit basic) plot

Things I didn't like as much:
- Fighting can be a real pain at times

Things that may bother you (or others), but I was okay with:
- Graphics do tend to clip at times (doors especially)
- You can't see the weapon you have equipped
- Music and voice acting are pretty generic (they don't suck, but don't excel either)
- There isn't a vast variety of foes in each area
- No character generation screen (you character, Copper LeGre, always starts off with the same attributes)
- This is more action than rpg.

The best thing I can suggest is to find a "Let's Play" on youtube and see it in action. I hope this helps!

Hmmm, i'll take a closer look before I decide. Thanks for the info.
wow, this is one of the few promos where I already had almost everything being offered so the pickings for me were slim, which is a good thing given how much money GOG bleed out of me the past few weeks. So I ended up grabbing Jade Empire which I played the hell out of on my old Xbox and Strike Commander. The only two items I don't have now are Medal of Honor which I may get another time and Ultima 9 which I still won't ever pick up even at 2.39.
OT but have we already seen the grand finale or is there going to be something else in store?

You're very welcome! Hopefully, whether you get it or not, the choice you make is the right one for you. I was thinking more about why it was received so poorly when it was released, and I realized that people originally were paying $60 US for it (I believe it dropped to $40 later on). It's certainly not worth that, and I'd definitely have reviewed it more harshly at that price point. But, for the price of a medium Starbucks? Hell, yeah. It's worth that, in my opinion.

Zoidberg: What about the dungeon keepers now? Are they worth it/playable now?
I got them before the fixes, and they worked just fine .

True, and if it turns out I don't like it, then i'm only out a couple bucks. No big loss. :)

SpiderFighter: If you've already bought the games, can you (or anyone else, for that matter) please confirm whether we get several Witcher codes if we purchase the games all at once, or do we have to buy each game separately if we want more than one code? I've asked three times now, but I think everyone left to go play Jade Empire! :)
I have Witcher 1 already. I bought 4 games and got one code, I bought 3 more games and got another code. So it's one code per purchase, not per game.

I frankly was not expecting the second code.
jade empire and a giftable copy of the witcher for 6 bucks is a really nice deal. i forgive you for all those contests i never won, gog. i could've sworn my rap was nothing short of incredible.

If you don't like it, I have a code for the Witcher I'd be happy to giv- oh, wait. Nevermind. =D Is there anyone on GOG who doesn't own this by now? lol

Seriously,. lemme know what you think of it. I'd be curious to learn. I don't think people actively hated it like they did with U9, just that they found it mediocre.

Thanks; I appreciate it! I have six games I want to get from the promo, so I should get six codes then if I buy them individually. It just seems odd to me that they would do it this way, because GOG has to pay for each transaction on a card. But, oh well. These will be nice to give out later. Cheers!

EDIT to add: Confirmed. I've just bought (GOG's caps, not mine; I was lazy so I copied and pasted):
THEME HOSPITAL
SID MEIER'S ALPHA CENTAURI™
DUNGEON KEEPER GOLD™
POPULOUS™: THE BEGINNING
MEDAL OF HONOR: ALLIED ASSAULT WAR CHEST
STARFLIGHT™ 1+2

I bought each of them separately, so I now have 6 Witcher codes! Thanks, GOG!!

And realizing this, you still abuse the process ? "Nice".

Aw man I don't know what to get! I only have Wing Commander 1+2 so I guess it make sense to get the sequels(I was actually planning on getting the PS1 versions of III and IV because I...uh...love consoles). I didn't realize Medal of Honor was even on here....so that and maybe Undying I will get and everything else I will have to take advantage of later.

First of all, you assume too much. 7 hours ago, G-Doc posted in this thread about using these codes to give them to others who don't yet have a GOG account, and that's what I'm using them for. How is that "abusing the process" when it's set up by design by GOG? If it's an oversight, then I'm happy to not use the codes, but it certainly seems like it's geared to promote both GOG and Witcher 3:

avatar
Trilarion: Nice 60% promo. Two games are on my wishlist. I will buy them separate to maximize the worldwide Witcher 1 proliferation.

I guess this giveaway of Witcher 1 is not only to boost sales on GOG but also to increase demand for upcoming Witcher 3.

TheEnigmaticT: You may have found out the sinister truth behind our plans.
Second of all, I posted several times in this thread over the last 5 hours, asking if this was kosher, and waiting patiently before pulling the trigger. If it was a problem, it would have been dealt with earlier. And, again, if it still is, then I'm happy to return the codes.

And third, screw you and your little sarcastic "nice." You don't know me, and I didn't deserve that,

EDIT to add: It was 7 hours ago that G-Doc posted, not 5 (as I had originally posted).

You could throw darts at this list and never hit a dud. Great promo.
