I had never even heard of GOG.com much less downloaded any game online. Always been a physical copy guy.

But I kept hearing about GOG.com over at gamefaqs so I checked it out. Turns out the price is right, the preorder stuff is right, the possibility to play the game a day early was right.

These things made me purchase. Now comes the problems. a) I never recieved my free game code, only an HTML email with CD KEY. They claimed they were resending them out, but I never got one. b) I expected to be able to play at about 4-6pm CST on the 16th, based on the release date of Midnight GMT time. But now without notice or word that has been changed to 7am (PST if I remember?)

A little raged at GOG.com...expected better after all the good word I have heard about GOG.com...if this is how it always is...I'd think twice about using GOG.com again.

Did you view the source? I was able to find both those when I looked at the source. I have seen reports of people being unable to find the code, but I didn't have that problem personally.

The most common breakage here is for the code to only be visible in source, but not int he HTML view of the email.

Hopefully that that helps.
I did see the post about looking in source..but in Yahoo mail (not sure why I even still use yahoo mail) it shows source for the entire code of Yahoo mail..

But even then once I go to the post specific area there was nothing else in the post aside from what was already shown in HTML format. Seems my email just didnt have a link..it just had a CD Key.

I emailed support just now, not sure why I didn't do that before, possibly because they had said they were resending emails out yesterday..but I never got that either.

I will see what support says.

As for the time change, that one isn't a huge deal..just frustrating. Won't be able to play til Tuesday, which is my day off anyways ;) But had hoped to pull an all nighter! Woot. I will just try to finish Witcher 1 again before then.

for a) try going to http://www.gog.com/en/page/my_tw2_info there is a gold button near the bottom saying "choose your free game." No idea about the time changes though.

Well that was a simple fix, now I have to figure out which game to get. The consensus seems to be Gothic 2..but I'm not sure..I've played all these games, but been awhile :)

Thanks!

Glad I could help :D

Most people say gotinc 2 cause it is a $9.99 game where all the rest are $5.99, I went with divine divinity cause there wasa a lot of good reviews on it.

I already had that one from the JoWood bundle. So, I went with Divine Divinity.
Although they're all arguably good games (Realms of Arkania 1/2 might be the best of them), Divine Divinity's developer is the only one still around, so if you're interested in supporting them in some small way, you'd probably do better to pick that one up.

Looks to me like it will be released 1am CDT which looks to be 11 hours before Steam release.

Just as an update a) I got my free game thanks to the link provided by people of the community. b) The time change wasn't as dramatic as others made it out to be..and I am sure it isn't controlled by GOG anyways..

I still think they should have announced the change, and made sure all information with the dates were updated..but I would definitely use GOG again.
the game comes out 12:00 am pdt may 17 and 9:00 am in poland
Just to let you all know, as some of you may recall I got screwed over by HMV regarding my CE of The Witcher 2 and it looked like I wouldn't be getting it. I can now cheerfully inform you all that I have received confirmation from The Hut stating that it's now on it's way! :D Of course, I've also gone and got the GOG version as well, yes I am that sad. ;)

I just received an email from thehut that 2 of CEs I ordered there have been dispatched (one for a friend) I too have GOG already downloaded.

And I do not feel sad about it : ).

What I do feel sad about is that estimated delivery time is 15 days.

Heh yeah, I've already got the TW2 pre-downloaded and ready with the day booked off since I know that I won't be able to work knowing it's waiting for me anyway. ;) I'm just glad that I will be getting the CE still, need all those lovely collectibles...
