The GOG.com frenzy begins. Todays unexpected release of Arx Fatalis is just one of many surprises which will be revealed throughout this month. Stay tuned for more announcements!
Today we present to you Arx Fatalis, a classic dungeon crawler with unique features, most notably a spellcasting system in which you "draw" magic runes in the air instead of just clicking a skill. The game offers an interesting storyline and allows the players multiple ways of achieving their goals. But if you thought that was all for today, think again, as we're adding Port Royale 2, an open-ended business strategy game, to the coming soon section. No holds are barred in the Carribean, so whether you want to be a merchant, a buccaneer, or both, is your choice.
Holy shit that is awesome. It's sad Arx had so few exposure, it truly deserves it. I highly recommend it if you're not claustrophobic :)
Holy!
This + that campaign, now I've just got to choose one of the 9.99 games to buy.
Thanks, GOG!
Port Royale 2 is similar to Patrician III, but moved to Carribean, ya?
good'ol arx fatalis. ill be getting that one for sure.
its available on steam for the same price, but i like gog more because they are dedicated to older games and by purchasing from them hopefully theyll keep adding more and more games.
Arx was fairly decent, and there was a fair bit of stuff you could do. Many areas in the game are designed to be taken at certain points, so no apparent auto-leveling against your character. Shame I never finished it, may revisit (once I've revisited all the other stuff I've said I'll revisit).
The only issue I had was with the magic system, while it is a creative use of gestures, I found it to be a little tricky to pull off right, especially in combat.
Port Royal 2 looks like a bit of Patrician. May have to check that one out sometime.
Very nice surprise.
Arx Fatalis was a great game, actually was going to be a new Ultima game but they couldn't get the rights to ultima so they had to name it something different.
Will definitely be picking this one up.
Man, I am a bit bummed that Port Royale 2 is not coming out until the day after the sale is over. I have been trying to find 2 $10.00 I want but PR2 would have been one of my two choices.
... I'm eating salted bread for the rest of this month

But the month has just begun... :D
Arx Fatalis was pretty damn fun, even if it's supposedly not as fun as the Ultima Underworld games it was modeled after.
And on that note, an interesting cheat: try casting the spell "UUW", using the letters as the runes.
Port Royale will be my first purchase from here :D

Yeah, I pity my stomach as well
I'm really surprised.
I'm not surprised Arx Fatalis came here. I'm surprised that, ANOTHER SOUNDTRACK became available from gog.com!
Wow. How come to get such a lot SOUNDTRACK, while they were never released at all? (Or... those Soundtracks were released, and just I don't know?)

From Arx Fatalis page: "in-game soundtrack". Here is your answer.
