GOG.com 5th birthday celebration continues, and today we've got something super lined up for you. A special bundle release of exceptional indie games hit GOG.com shelves and--guess what--they're on promo! You can get each of them 60-80% off, with each title you add to your cart adding 5% to the final discount. That means all the releases in the Super 5 Promo can be yours for as little as $5 total! (Well, $4.95, to be exact.) The special offer lasts for the first week, that is until Tuesday, October 1, at 9:59AM GMT. After that, the games will be priced at--you guessed it--$5 each. Enough talk, let's get down to business and get a closer look at the Super 5 Promo releases!

The Adventures of Shuggy trailer video

In the puzzle-platformer genre The Adventures of Shuggy stands out with the multitude of cleverly designed stages and diverse mechanics involving gravity shifting and time manipulations. Don't let the cute artwork fool you, and get ready for some challenging platforming and brain-twisting!

VVVVVV trailer video

Talking 'bout challenging platforming, Terry Cavanagh's VVVVVV is difficult enough to be considered a "punishment game", but it's also so addicting, that you'll have trouble putting it down. Brilliant gravity-shifting gameplay, excellent level design, and originally presented story more than just makes up for the game's simplistic graphics. Take it for a spin! (Windows + Mac!)

Gateways trailer video

Bending the space-time continuum on the micro-scale is the theme of Gateways, a retrotastic puzzle-platformer from the devs of The Adventures of Shuggy. Master the gateway guns to travel across a room instantly, change size, walk on walls and even travel in time. (Windows + Mac!)

Escape Goat trailer video

Escape Goat is a puzzle platforming game where you take on the role of a goat who was imprisoned for witchcraft. Take heart, for a friendly magic mouse accompanies you, and he can help in the most unexpected ways. Together you must solve 50 rooms of the treacherous Prison of Agnus in order to escape. Level editor included! (Windows + Mac!)

Time, Gentlemen Please! + Ben There, Dan That!

Ben There, Dan That! and its sequel Time Gentlemen, Please! are a couple of rip-roaring point-and-click adventure games. With tongue firmly in cheek, sit back, relax, and put your mind to work solving puzzles, and reading some very funny dialogue. It's like a book, only good!

There you have it, 5 excellent new indie additions to GOG.com catalog, for a little under $5 if you get them all until Tuesday, October 1, at 9:59AM GMT. That's our Super 5 Promo, a part of GOG.com 5th birthday celebration!

timppu: I think it is mainly the steam-lovers who are being cranky again, so maybe it is the "Steam community" who is bitching, again. So they bought these games as Steam keys before from elsewhere? Tough, their choice. No one forced them, yet they did. :)
To be fair, I don't think it has to do anything with Steam this time. All the games from the bundle were available DRM-free for nearly no money before. VVVVV was in a Humble Bundle, Escape Goat and Shuggy were on Indiegamestand and Ben There, Dan That /Time Gentlemen, Please! were on Groupees just a few weeks ago.

But I think the moaners overestimate the reach of that bundles. Except for the Humble bundle they don't sell very well, ranging from around thousand (Indiegamestand) to 5000 - 10000 (Groupees). So ven if these games were in bundles before, most gamers won't own them already.

park_84: So, without the discount, do that games have an individual price of $5? That's a new price point, right?
New games (or new-ish, at least :P) can be at any price, really.

Smannesman: And using that annoying buy more get more discount system is certainly not super.
I generally dislike the system as well, but who can complain when the discount is at least 60%? It's steeper than on most regular promos, I think.

It's a different story with stacking promos that start at around 30%, which is when I usually end up buying nothing.

G-Doc: The way this promo works, you'll pay $4.96 when buying four games, while for the complete pack of five you'll pay $4.95. It makes absolutely no sense to get just four, unless you really DON'T want a particular title in your shelf.
It would be kinda "dickish" (in a good way) if you'd have a stacking promo, where you'd always pay more (and not per title, mind you) if you get less. That said, the normal price is higher than getting them all now, so you could actually have pulled that off with this one.
some interesting games here
I don't know how to feel about this promo. Like a fart in a tornado, I am torn asunder.

timppu: For the people who keep complaining "Who doesn't have these games already?"...

I don't. :^P Funny that, considering I have bought most Humble Indie Bundles before.
I second that! Or at least part of it - I don't have any of those games but I've never bought any Humble Indie Bundle (or any other bundle to be more precise ;)

Anyway, for 4.95$ it's no brainer.

I have one question though about platformers: can you play them for 5 minutes, make some progress, leave and then later come back without losing anything? It would be great, because I love to I play them like that - as a brief interlude in my work.
Still waiting for super meat boy...
Yeah... Those aren't games I'm interested in. I think I have at least one from bundles, and I didn't bother playing it. Still, the idea is good, hope we see more bundles like this.
Not a bad one in the bunch. Just purchased the whole bundle. Nice work GOG!
Sold! Very nice promo, I haven't owned or played any of these games until now, even though I've heard very good things about most of them. This is easily worth $5 for me.
That's all well and good, but I already have these (well, okay, not Gateways, but everything else). I suppose it's good that these games are now on GGGGGGOG though :P
Except for Gateways (which I'm reluctant to play since it looks confusing enough to make me sick, heh), I have all of these games, too. But I still think this is a great offer, and I'm tempted to buy at least TGP and Escape Goat another time, just because I'm happy for Size Five Games and Magical Time Bean to be here on GOG; they definitely deserve it. As someone else here already said, TGP has that LucasArts vibe more than any other point-and-click adventure I've played since LA abandoned the genre, despite its simple looks. And Magical Time Bean's games are worth the asking price just for their soundtracks already. Btw, what's that Lowering the Tone book extra for TGP?

Some people have been complaining about indie games being too expensive, others about indie games taking up too much 'release space' or about indie games not being profitable for GOG because they were already featured in bundles before or shortly after for lower prices. Now GOG tries a new approach to counteract all that was criticized, releasing several of them at once and at prices comparable to mobile games even, and they are criticized for it again? I think that just goes to show that you can never please everybody, no matter what you do. ;)

Out of curiosity, has Gateways been featured in a bundle, too? If so, which one?
