Looks pretty cool!
I'm sure it will be lens-flare-tacular.
Sooooo good!

LOL, with Abrams you can count on it!

Even the name JJ Abrams appears in a lens flare background like a giant TM.
Well... At least it'll be entertaining. It's a shame that that's about it, but .... Hey.
Hmmm. That blonde really looks like the actress who played Dr. Elizabeth Dehner in the second pilot. But they already did Gary Mitchell in the comics set in between the two movies...

Ahhh well, guess we'll just have to wait and see.

**Edit**

And here's a slightly extended Japanese version on the teaser, with a few extra splits seconds of footage here and there, and a very interesting extra scene at the end.

These are not Star Trek movies but they are certainly cool sci-fi movies.

Do we know who the villain is yet?

How does that work? It has star trek in the title, so there for it's a star trek movie. Is this some sort of stupid internet logic?

It means they aren't anything like the Star Trek that came before, Mr. Purposely Ignorant. there is no value statement there, I said I like them as films. Defense mode off, please.
I'm getting a strong TDKR vibe from this one. Don't know how I feel about that yet.

If theyre nothing like the ones before why does that mean they're not star trek movies? I'm honestly abit lost in this stupidity. If you like them then whats wrong with them being a star trek movie?!?!?!

I've had this discussion so many times in the past, I'm well practised...

The last Star Trek movie wasn't really a Star Trek movie as far as many of us are concerned. It wore all of the cosmetic trappings of Star Trek, but cosmetic trappings alone do not a beloved franchise make. What Star Trek fans love about Star Trek isn't necessarily that there is a ship called Enterprise with characters who have a particular set of names and colours on their uniforms, but the way those stories are told, and how certain ideas are portrayed.

At it's core, if you compare all of the tropes used, it was actually a pretty close remake of Star Wars: A New Hope, wearing a fancy-dress Star Trek costume.
I would choose any single "The Next Generation" episode over whatever Hollywood made with Star Trek in the latest 5 decades, but this new film seems entertaining all things considered...

They are Star Trek movies, it says so in the title. They're just nothing like the 700+ hours of Star Trek that came before them in tone, style, pace or message. Color me an old man but I kind of find that shit important, so I comment on it.

I still like them as modern pulp sci-fi action.
