Today, you can start killing monsters.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, the first two chapters in the gritty RPG series from CD Projekt RED, following the morally ambiguous deeds of the white-haired monster slayer Geralt of Rivia, are available 75% off on GOG.com. That's $2.49 for the first and $4.99 for the second title, until Tuesday, August 27, at 3:59AM GMT (Promo extended!).

Geralt is a wandering monster slayer from the order of the witchers. In a perfect world he would travel from one village to another, killing ghouls and wyverns for a hefty pouch of gold, celebrating his victories with fine mead and ale at local inns, and then waking up each morning (or noon) next to the woman he loves. But the world of The Witcher is far from perfect -- teeming with hatred, dark magic, cruelty, prejudice, dirty politics and outright stupidity. But all the things that make Geralt’s life harder contribute to one of the most vivid, believable game worlds in cRPG history.

The third game in CD Projekt RED hit series, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming DRM-free to GOG.com in 2014. Have you seen its recently released CGI trailer titled "Killing Monsters"? Take a moment to immerse yourself in the atmospheric vision of Geralt's grim and unwelcoming world.

While you wait for the third, why don't you give a shot at the first two? Both games are third-person perspective action-RPGs highly praised for their rich environment, mature story, memorable and lifelike characters, and succulent dialogue. Get both The Witcher: Enhanced Edition and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for only $7.48, or separately at $2.49 and $4.99 accordingly. That's whole 75% off, until Tuesday, August 27, at 3:59AM GMT (Promo extended!).

kemetblk: Just a question: I am just getting into pc gaming after being a console gamer my whole life. I have heard nothing but good things about the Witcher series and would like to pick them up but am unsure if my hardware can handle it. I got a new desktop pc about a year and a half ago that has a Radeon 6670, Core i7 2600 and 12 gigs of RAM. I want to play in 1080p with better visuals than my 360/PS3. Is my rig sufficient or will I need an upgrade? I also travel a lot and want to game on the go. My laptop is pretty old (4 years) but has a Core2Duo 2.53Ghz, Radeon 4670 1GB and 4 GB of RAM. I know I need to get something more up to date, but i'd like to wait till next year. What kind of settings do you think I could get out of it until then. Coming from consoles I'm perfectly content with 30 fps. Thanks for any advice.
The desktop should be more than sufficient for both games I think. It beats the "recommended" hardware on the Witcher 2 game card (assuming you meant Radeon HD 6670).
As for the laptop, best I can say is test it and find out. I'll let anyone else answer that...

My laptop, which is also my gaming machine for now, is a 2.53GHz C2D, 8GB Ram, 512GB SSD, 1280x800 & Nvidia 9400M (256mb) and Witcher 1 is basically unplayable. IIRC on Lowest detail it runs at about 4-5 FPS, anything higher and it runs at 0-2FPS.

So you Radeon should give you more legs than my 9400M has.
I hope in a years time this is again 75% off (around whenever W3 comes out), at a point when I have a comp that can play it. Looking forward to playing it.
Thanks for the responses! I went ahead and bought them. If I can't play them smoothly now then at least I have them ready to go when I upgrade. Again, thanks!
