Point Man: Are you talking about Shadowrun or Eternity? Because for shadowrun that is the case, but so far for Project Eternity it seems like they're all set to come to GOG.
I was asking about Shadowrun, and I've been busy reading more of the thread and read that. orcishgamer: I really think that's easily possible here. Yes, a few mods might make use of non-free DLC assets, even those might get ported by the crafty (again maybe not). I bet if they do HBS will turn a blind eye, I think everyone will.
My issue is that it still creates uncertainty for people that want to make their own content using existing assets. The possibility of some excruciating legal action is still there to temper enthusiasm. The proper thing to do would be to turn a blind eye, but that doesn't mean they have to. I don't like the way I'm feeling about Kickstarter right now. I hate having someone else's risk put on me and then they get to keep all of the reward. I would like a Kickstarter-type website with only free licenses, or better yet, Kickstarter to exist in a world without copyright and patents. Then most of the issues I have with it wouldn't exist. I don't think any of the free license only sites are going to be hugely popular because they can't compete against protected content, but I find that is a knock against IP, not the other way around.
