GOG.com is getting an update today! Learn about the new features and improvements.

Today some new features and improvement are coming your way on GOG.com. Our web dev team did their best to improve your experience with our store and implement some of the requested changes. The update also facilitates a new kind of bundle deals, allowing you to save money when completing game series in your collection. All of the new features and improvements will be rolled out today. If you don't see something mentioned here working for you yet, just wait a bit and check again in a couple of hours. Let's go into some detail and sum up all the changes, shall we?

Let's start with the new sweet deals we've prepared for you. A while back we did a test run of game series bundles that allowed for purchase of full series of games at a reduced price. This will now be a permanent feature on GOG.com. We've prepared over 80 such offers, so those of you who like to see a complete set of your favorite games series in their virtual shelves, can achieve that goal up to 57.89% cheaper (that would be the case of Telltale's Sam & Max series). If you already have a game, or some games, featured in the bundle, you can always complete the collection and get the remaining ones with a discount.

The gamecard pages are getting an overhaul. The new version brings more focus to the game's trailer, as we have those available in most cases nowadays. As they say, an image is worth a thousand words, and a trailer is a set of images displayed at ~29 frames per second. Then, we've altered the way that screenshot thumbnails are presented, just to make watching all the visual content for the game easier and more intuitive. All this doesn't mean we're giving up on text! The "what's cool about it" bullet points, as well as the description are still a prominent feature of the design, now displayed side-by-side with the frame informing you about other associated titles and deals.

Ever since we introduced DLCs to GOG.com, the most popular comment from you guys was: "make them display relative to their main game, not as a separate product". That was our intention from the start, but it took some time to whip-up such a system. Today, we're happy to say it's ready. The DLCs will no longer display as separate boxes in your collections. They'll be merged and folded out from the main game box. Similarly, in the catalog, if a game offers DLC it will be all linked together, and the downloadable content will be also enumerated in the appropriate gamecard. All downloadable content items will be listed with a "DLC:" prefix in GOG.com catalog, to avoid any confusion. Entering a game's title in the search engine will display all the available expansions as well. This mechanics doesn't only focus on DLCs, but will also allow us to support new types of gaming content, like episodic titles.

Sword of the Stars: The Pit + DLC in the catalog

We're almost there, just two more things we'd like to point out. The catalog search and sorting has been updated to work faster, so browsing our offer should go a lot more smoothly now for you. And finally, a new system of check-out notifications has been implemented, to inform you about the system requirements of the games in your order. It will also warn you, if you try to buy a DLC or an episode that requires a title you don't have in your collection.

We hope you'll find that our newest update improves your experience with GOG.com! Be on the lookout for a special contest we'll be launching very soon, that will involve you taking an in-depth tour of the new gamecard layout.

Here's a greasemonkey script that alters the gamecard without using position:absolute, so the copyright info at the bottom displays as it should while giving the game information and screenshots a wider area.

Digital_CHE: You, people, don't undestand!!
Even if I can understand english, I DONT LIKE ENGLISH.

I want THE OPTION to see GOG in spanish because is my native language!!...

I want a confortable website

If the STEAM website is available in A LOT of languages, then why not GOG??..

To traslate the info of all the games and the NEWS, IS NOT thaaat hard to do.. Especially when I can do it for free, like I did with the Crysis Wars Mod: Wreckage :)
I'd hate forced trashlation (no, not a typo there) based upon IP. or anything else than my preferences. If this site is available in my language, I appreciate being able to *choose* it (not that I would, mind you) to view GOG in my native language.
iMDB translates some titles of movies into their Dutch counterparts for me. I hate that, I want the original language being shown first.

Cheers! :-)
CHANGE. THE. LAYOUT.

I didn't realize how terrible it really was until I was trying to learn more about Thunderscape.

I'll use that script in the meantime.
I complained before that half the screen was wasted with stuff like GOGmixes and "buy more stuff" recommendations. It didn't occur to me at the time that since new games wouldn't be included in GOGmixes, and the site wouldn't have generated recommendations yet, half of the game card for the brand new release you're trying to get people to buy would be a blank, empty grey.

This is not a good design decision.

Sorry to bother you, but I'm experiencing this odd issue with the userscript (or the userstyle if I take out the position:absolute part).
Do you noticed the weird alignment of the left and right column?
Any idea why this is happening and how I may fix it?

I'm not experience that on the Volgarr page...
I see you're using Firefox... What OS is that?

Does this happen when the script is turned off, too? The only thing the script does is move the overview out of and above column-left and make it wider... It doesn't change the widths of anything else...

I took the screenshot on my Win XP machine, but I have the same problem on Win 7 (x64).
And it's not just the Volgarr gamecard, it's happening on all gamecards.

If I disable this line:
$('div.column-left').before($('div.overview'));
the columns align next to each other, but if the reviews are long, the bottom of this column gets hiden behind the site footer :(

Wait... are you using the user script or the userstyle? Or both at once? If you user the user script, you don't need the userstyle...

I'm sorry if I confused you with my initial post.
I have tried both the userstyle and the userscript - seperately! - on both systems.
The results are the same:
1. Use of the unchanged userscript leads to the column misalignment in my attached pic. I arrive at the same result if I instead use the userstyle and remove (or disable) this part:
div.module.reviews {
position: absolute !important;
}
2. Use of the unchanged userstyle leads to proper column alignment, but hiding of the bottom of the review column under the site footer if that column is too long. I arrive at the same result if I instead use the userscript and disable this line:
$('div.column-left').before($('div.overview'));
Is it any clearer now or did I make things worse?

HypersomniacLive:
Let's ignore the user style for now. Go ahead and delete that user style if you haven't already. Less confusing. :)

With the userscript, I can only get my page to look like your screenshot by commenting out this line like so.

// $('div.column-left').before($('div.overview'));

Using the code straight from the site gives me the correct column layout, so I'm not sure what's going on. Have you tried exiting Firefox and opening it back up? I've noticed that this sometimes fixes things.

Ok, without doing anything different than what I was doing till now, the userscript seems to be working properly now on both systems - I don't know why or how, till now it insisted to give me trouble by hidding the reviews if they were long.

Question: Is there any way to fix the userstyle (I mean the issue with the reviews getting hidden at the bottom of the site)?
Reason I'm asking is that the userscript only works when javascript is allowed, but I'm a user of NoScript and often quickly browse GOG without logging in, i.e. the userstyle comes more handy then. But I'm not good with this stuff :(

Thanks so much for your time and help.

I could find no way of getting the userstyle to work without the footer problems. Sorry...

(Glad the userscript is working for you now!)

It's irritating - I've tried a number of things that should work, but don't and as I'm not really good with this stuff, I"m stuck with no explanation and no solution :(

Ah well, one can't always have it all - keeping my fingers crossed that the userscript will still work when I restart my browser.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated :-)

Using position:absolute removes the left column from the layout of the page... which allows the right column to look correct, but since the left column's height can no longer be taken into consideration, the footer can be messed up.
