28. Double-Knot your Shoes

Zombie Shooter, a frantic top-down isometric trigger-happy mayhem with massive levels, filled to the brim with repulsive animated corpses, and sporting RPG-like upgrade mechanics adding an extra layer of depth to the simplest zombie-survival gameplay concept, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99!

While developers get really creative with the name of their game, a down-to-earth straightforward title will sometimes take you a long way. Gamers like to know what they get into. With a game like Zombie Shooter everything is right there in the open. You look at the title screen and every misconception about unicorns, buggy racing, and managing a football team instantly disappear like the morning mist. You'll be shooting firearms at the life-challenged individuals. Hordes of zombies, lots of led, isometric view, and some interesting RPG-like character development and upgrade mechanics. Sigma Team, the creators of fan-favorite Alien Shooter series have done it once again. What a pleasant pastime!

Make sure to pack plenty of heat and stay on your toes, as you experience the fun part of the zombie apocalypse in Zombie Shooter, for only $5.99 on GOG.com!
Fair warning: You would suggest this a great Coop LAN game. This has not such a mode, though.
Now see what you folks did! I'm re-downloading Alien Shooter 2 for a replay. I still want to try Zombie shooter though. Maybe I'll alternate.:-)
I quite like these games. Some good oldschool fun. Doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't, which is a problem with many other titles these days. I have this on Steam already, but I'll probably go for a DRM-free version too. The Steam one is amortised =P

No problem with the price tag from my point of view. Below $10 doesn't even really register at all, unless it's significantly shorter than 1 hour of playtime without any replay value (there are some such candidates…).

There are always sales, and I think they have distorted the view of many people. I don't think you can't go below maybe $5 for regular price. For one, there are always things like billing, server maintenance, customer support etc. that arise regardless of how old, small or short the game might be. And also, there needs to be some payoff for the publisher that makes them feel it's worth their while. The less a publisher thinks their old games will sell for, the fewer of them will be ready to negotiate with GOG.com about a re-release.

As for the zombie theme, I usually really hate it, and yes it's horribly overused. But what I usually hate most about them is when they try to do something oh-so-special with the worn-out theme. One game/movie tries to be very funny, others try to compensate by being terribly serious about it, others turn it into something epicly dramatic… I really prefer this game's approach of "they're zombies; kill them," and nothing else. Also, I think with 2007 the game was released well before the current zombie game abundance.

tokisto: One thing is you pay for an old game that is not being sold anymore or hard to get it (like Entomorph). I´ve paid that for IHNMAIMS in a happy mood. Other thing is call for that price for a game easily avaiable that has been sold DRM-free for ages at a low price. I fully disagree the GOG politics for "fixed prices".

Zeeaire: yes, I agree with that. I only had to comment because in that post it sounded like a lot of older games are too expensive and because of their age or bad quality ( which is often in the eye of the beholder) they should be cheaper. and that's what I'm disagreeing with - generalizing. Maybe it would be too complex to elaborate different prices for each game but in such cases it wouldn't be a bad idea, indeed^^

Yeah, I'm walking right onto the stage and signing autographs after my tasty fly dinner and after zapping through, and myself into the latenight shows ^.^...
No, really, I would appreciate Gex to come here on GOG even though he already keeps my company on psx.
...Couldn't you do your jump n run fellow a little favor and tell them how famous I actually am and that they urgently need a competent stunt gecko like me? I know you can do it, Rayman, heroes like us need to hold together.
After all theres no chance of competing with us, not even for zombies :D
