28. Double-Knot your Shoes

Zombie Shooter, a frantic top-down isometric trigger-happy mayhem with massive levels, filled to the brim with repulsive animated corpses, and sporting RPG-like upgrade mechanics adding an extra layer of depth to the simplest zombie-survival gameplay concept, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99!

While developers get really creative with the name of their game, a down-to-earth straightforward title will sometimes take you a long way. Gamers like to know what they get into. With a game like Zombie Shooter everything is right there in the open. You look at the title screen and every misconception about unicorns, buggy racing, and managing a football team instantly disappear like the morning mist. You'll be shooting firearms at the life-challenged individuals. Hordes of zombies, lots of led, isometric view, and some interesting RPG-like character development and upgrade mechanics. Sigma Team, the creators of fan-favorite Alien Shooter series have done it once again. What a pleasant pastime!

Make sure to pack plenty of heat and stay on your toes, as you experience the fun part of the zombie apocalypse in Zombie Shooter, for only $5.99 on GOG.com!
Pass for me. Played it before and it's a bit too mindless for my tastes, it's just the S.O.S. level after level.

Bah ! You don't really have the third nostril !
This is great news for me cause I like sigma team's games, I own them all all ready.
Since I all ready purchased this game else where, you think the devs would be willing to give me gog.com code for it?

Grogger: $6 for this, they should be happy to get $2 if they're lucky. Not so long ago I purchased the entire Space Quest collection box for $6 which was ok, though things like this at that price are, sorry to say pathetic.

It's rather sad to see so many old, and lets admit it crappy games, taking their chances and trying to sell for $6 on GOG when making any money at all in this day is far beyond even the most optimistic expectations, hell even $2 is pushing it for games like this today.

It's also unfortunate that it degrades the overall quality of the GOG catalogue, things like this being so grossly overpriced will probably only serve to make most GOG users roll their eyes and anyone new to GOG, if that's the first thing they see may presume the whole site is full of old crap at exorbitant prices.

I want to make it clear I'm not saying it's because of this game and it's price alone, it seems to be becoming more and more of a trend on GOG for developers/publishers to "release" old crap at ridiculous prices. Frankly a lot of the things like this are barely worth $1 from a value point of view, from a personal point of view I'm not sure I'd pay $1 for some of the overpriced nonsense lately, hell some of them even put up a price of $10 which is beyond insulting.

I really think GOG should evaluate the quality and value of things and cap the price appropriately both for the sake of GOG's users and GOG itself.
well, you may refer to it as 'crap' but there certainly are other people who doesn't think like you about this game or whatever games you are thinking of when using that expression.
and in my opinion most of the old games are 100% worth the price. You have to consider some of the games are hell of a trouble to get working on newer operating systems, and GOG makes it possible for all the people who won't get them running on their pc, to( re-)experience the fun they undoubtly still offer for them. and then again, it's not okay to claim the price to be an insult, as some people may love that game and are indeed willing to pay that price.
I won't buy 'Zombie Shooter' for that price, cause this isn't the kind of game I'm fond of, but I'm sure lots of people will find it an reasonable price and out of that subjectivity I won't complain.
for example ,whereas you may think 5,99 $ is too much for lets say 'Entomorph' (I'm playing it right now) I think it is a very decent price and I would have even paid more for it cause I'm extremely thankful for beeing able to play it. At that moment the release date or how much other people like it is of no object to me. and that's the way others will possibly think about this game, too.
I've got it from an Indie Gala bundle.
This is a cool little game if the you don't mind a mindless shooter game packed with adrenaline.
Most likely different scenery but otherwise the same as alien shooter.
That was a fun little game, so this will probably be fun too.
Waiting for a sale though, have a backlog that's way too massive.

One thing is you pay for an old game that is not being sold anymore or hard to get it (like Entomorph). I´ve paid that for IHNMAIMS in a happy mood. Other thing is call for that price for a game easily avaiable that has been sold DRM-free for ages at a low price. I fully disagree the GOG politics for "fixed prices".
I would describe this game as "basically OK." If it were a decade older then its is, and hence a "classic," it would still be "basically OK." I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for $6, but when it goes on sale, it would be an OK purchase if it's the kind of game you're interested in.

But god, I hope the zombie fad crawls into a corner and dies sometime soon.

yes, I agree with that. I only had to comment because in that post it sounded like a lot of older games are too expensive and because of their age or bad quality ( which is often in the eye of the beholder) they should be cheaper. and that's what I'm disagreeing with - generalizing. Maybe it would be too complex to elaborate different prices for each game but in such cases it wouldn't be a bad idea, indeed^^
Well Hell, bought this for $1 from ShinyLoot just a few days ago in their December sale. So I guess this will be pretty far down on my GOG acquisition queue.

Grogger: *snip*
The concept of "sale pricing" is apparently beyond you.

Your buying habits broke it, now you have to pay for it.

fronzelneekburm: I wonder how many of the 14 people that rated this game actually played it. Let's not turn this into another "Slender - The Arrival", people, please! That being said, I'm not particularly excited about this release either.
I guess most of them did. I rated and gave 2/5, because it's mindless fun, but it was so buggy that I had to quit after a few levels. But even if it would've been stable I wouldn't have given more than 3/5. Let's face the truth, it is an average game at best (and it is an exact copy of Alien Shooter, even the level design is the same).
I like Alien Shooter 2 okay. Weapon upgrades and hidden areas. I'll have to give this a try.
Nice to see ZS on here, hope to see ZS2 and AS series on here sometime also. Sure I own them already thanks to my buddy but for anyone who hasn't played them Ide say check them out. Yes I beat ZS in 4hrs (so says Steam at least) - its a mindless shooter sure but I'm sure you'll have fun with it.

*edit* Correction I see who already have Alien Shooter - my bad =P
