Shaping the future of the fleet.

Wing Commander: Academy, a classic space combat sim that puts you through rigorous training of a Confederation fleet pilot, is available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Do you have what it takes to be space pilot? Do you think you can handle the Kilrathi, a fierce race of feline space warriors, hell-bent on destroying humankind? If you think you can handle the challenge, there's a chance that you might be what the fleet is looking for. Enlist now, and you'll be promptly transferred to our nearest training facility. You think flying a simulator is beneath you? Well think again! This is no ordinary training. We made damn sure you'll fail, and fail again until you learn from your mistakes. Hell, after we're done with you, you'll welcome fighting the actual Kilrathi as a nice change of pace.

Wing Commander: Academy delivers the excitement and challenge of space combat that has always been the trademark of the Wing Commander series, but this time you will be presented with missions you would never thought possible. You will participate in training simulations that mix and match conditions to prepare future Confederation pilots for just about anything. In the insane Gauntlet mode your task will be to withstand 15 waves of enemies, each more difficult than the last one. There's also a diverse mission creator at your disposal, presenting you with unlimited scenarios that will test your skill. Oh, and yes--this is the 600th game in GOG.com catalog, and yes--you can take it as a confirmation of even more Wing Commander titles coming our way in the future.

The Kilrathi menace won't just go away. Answer your destiny's call and take your part in securing the future of mankind in Wing Commander: Academy, for only $5.99 on GOG.com!
Stop teasing me GOG...release Prophecy and Darkening NOW!!!! grrrr
Wooo! Heck of a game for a 600th! \o/

tburger: Well I'm rather reluctant to set up yet another account - especially under this, say, abnormal circumstances. But if this will be persistent - well I'll probably go for this option.

Shaolin_sKunk: I may be wrong but I'm fairly sure Foxhack means to select the Paypal option here on GOG then there'll be an option below logging in which will allow you to enter your credit card without creating a Paypal account, although you still have the option to do so at the same time.
Doesn't work for me. It seems PayPal Poland allows me only either to pay from exisiting PP account OR create new while paying. I can enter card number etc but they require me to enter all valid information to set up new account :-(

Foxhack: snip
Thank you. Doesn't look bad - but I still hold a bit - hopefully gog will get round the card problem soon.

Barry_Woodward: Vote for the rest of the series on the wishlist!

Super Wing Commander (1994)
Wing Commander: Armada (1994)
Privateer 2: The Darkening (1996)
Wing Commander: The Kilrathi Saga (1996)
Wing Commander V: Prophecy (1997)
Wing Commander: Arena (2007)
Super Wing Commander was only released on 3DO and the Mac sadly. So even if I vote for it, I won't be able to play it :p

G-Doc: We're experiencing problems with accepting payments via some of the card providers. We're working on fixing that. Tburger is, sadly, one of the people affected :-(
Ok, my Mastercard seems working again (just bought Wing Commander: Academy) so likely it was random issue and coinciding with Visa Electron issues. Me happy again! :-D.

Good to hear that!
(Of course this doesn't mean we'll stop working on a fix for the Visa Electron issue.)

You could've used your CC to pay via PayPal, you know... probably even without creating an account...

I didn't know about this option but I tried it today and I only could set up new account within payment process - and I don't want it.
That is when I tried I was redirected to PP site and had: pay using your PP account OR set up new PP account while paying.

Oh, I checked, you can't pay via paypal without an account on GOG.com. On some stores you can, but you can't with this one.

Anyway, if missing on promos is big deal for you, setting up a PayPal account takes few minutes and is free.

Crosmando: I wonder if "The Kilrathi Saga", the Windows port/enhancement of the first three games, will come to GOG in time...
avatar
F4LL0UT: I don't know about WC3 but there's really nothing better about the Kilrathi Saga versions of WC1 and 2. The main upside were native compatibility for Windows and a digitized soundtrack recorded from an MT-32 (that the soundtrack was composed for), with DOSBox and MUNT you get these advantages as well and DOSBox is far more compatible with newer versions of Windows than the Kilrathi Saga ports.

The biggest downside of the Kilrathi Saga versions is that they don't support the expansion packs (which are included in the GOG release) so GOG is already offering the best versions of these games.
Wrong. Kilrathi Saga versions of the expansions are available as free downloads.

Dang, indeed. I remember asking for the addons in like 2004, 2005 and someone at some WC forums told me that there never was any addon support for the Kilrathi Saga versions. But you're right it seems, the addons were released for the Kilrathi Saga as early as 1996. >.<
