Shaping the future of the fleet.

Wing Commander: Academy, a classic space combat sim that puts you through rigorous training of a Confederation fleet pilot, is available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Do you have what it takes to be space pilot? Do you think you can handle the Kilrathi, a fierce race of feline space warriors, hell-bent on destroying humankind? If you think you can handle the challenge, there's a chance that you might be what the fleet is looking for. Enlist now, and you'll be promptly transferred to our nearest training facility. You think flying a simulator is beneath you? Well think again! This is no ordinary training. We made damn sure you'll fail, and fail again until you learn from your mistakes. Hell, after we're done with you, you'll welcome fighting the actual Kilrathi as a nice change of pace.

Wing Commander: Academy delivers the excitement and challenge of space combat that has always been the trademark of the Wing Commander series, but this time you will be presented with missions you would never thought possible. You will participate in training simulations that mix and match conditions to prepare future Confederation pilots for just about anything. In the insane Gauntlet mode your task will be to withstand 15 waves of enemies, each more difficult than the last one. There's also a diverse mission creator at your disposal, presenting you with unlimited scenarios that will test your skill. Oh, and yes--this is the 600th game in GOG.com catalog, and yes--you can take it as a confirmation of even more Wing Commander titles coming our way in the future.

The Kilrathi menace won't just go away. Answer your destiny's call and take your part in securing the future of mankind in Wing Commander: Academy, for only $5.99 on GOG.com!

Valts007: WC Armada, The Darkening and Prophecy is still missing.
I have a feeling they'll be coming soon ;)

Yes, I know :) , though I am not WC fan and never played.

Trilarion: Nice, but could have been appeared a bit earlier.
release date: August 27, 1993

Yeah, tell me about it. GOG is like 20 years late with these games. :)

Crosmando: I wonder if "The Kilrathi Saga", the Windows port/enhancement of the first three games, will come to GOG in time...
Not much overhauled aside from the first two having windows native ports, but it creates more problems then sovles, imo. WC1+2 from the Kilrathi saga are just like Interstate 76, meaning they need a special fix to run them, and the WC3 windows version in the Kilrathi Saga is no better. Just as fickle, I prefer the DOS version.

Edit: Also.. I almost read the release as Armada xD Dang.

One step closer to Wing Commander: Prophecy, the last of the FMV Wing Commander games starring Mark Hamill.

and if it comes, I'd suggest grabbing this: Movie Pack

Just scroll down for the upgrade packs to have all the cutscenes in their high definition glory. Of course only if they won't be included in the GOG release.

So weird seeing Mark Hamill being a badass in this series, he's the ultimate nice guy in reality and luke skywalker, than again he did play the Joker.

Don't forget the movie where he had eye (IIRC) transplant and got all murderous and stuff.

He is a great actor, I am sure he would have made an even more "in your face" career if it wasn't for the SW trilogy.
Not that interested in the game itself, just wanted to say happy 600th game! I expect some kind of surprise when we reach 666 though :P
Thumbs firmly up!

I must be in the minority that never liked Luke Skywalker. Screaming at Darth Vader to finish the punk off.

I would have loved to play WC back in the day, but at the time they came out I didn't have a computer or the money for a computer. So, eventually I will have to purchase the WC Series.

I have cash.
I have plenty of room on my shelf.
I have 2 cards issued by 2 major card companies that worked here flawlessly just weeks ago.
But you just don't want my money any more - so sorry - no deal.
Credit card + PayPal = happy tburger

Lovely news. :D

I will be picking this up a little later on for sure as I will the others when they release.
A bit sad that the only "bonus material" for the game is the manual...

Also, you should include the game in the "Wing Commander Series", so that users get a discount when they buy it together with the other games in the series.
