Royalty among real-time strategies.

Tzar: The Burden of the Crown, an elaborate and masterfully executed real-time strategy driving its inspiration from the history of medieval wars, is available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

Many people imagine the life of the monarchs to be simple and blissful. There's no higher authority, so there's no one to tell them what to do. They can decide to spend their days feasting, dancing, hunting, and pursuing other frivolous activities. The thing they don't understand is the weight of the crown. Not the actual weight--that's quite bearable, even though many rulers would much prefer a simple felt hat, then a layered construct of fine gold and jewel stones--they weigh no less than regular stones, mind you. The metaphorical weight is far greater. The burden of the crown is the burden of the ages. As it rests on one's head, so does the whole history of a nation: the past, the present, and the future. To tell you the truth, the latter feels the heaviest, today. Excuse your Tzar this moment of chatter, Field-marshal. The battle is upon us, let gods make it the last one.

Tzar: The Burden of the Crown offers the best in real-time strategy gameplay with a believable setting and nice sense of scale, and just a splash of fantasy. The three factions available in the game--Europeans, Asians, and Arabs--differ greatly from one another in terms of gameplay style and available facilities. The main campaign spanning across twenty scenarios grants many hours of challenge and excitement. When it ends the game provides an infinite number of randomly-generated maps, and a solid multi-player mode.

Accept the greatest responsibility and take a nation's fate in your own hands in Tzar: The Burden of the Crown, for only $5.99 on GOG.com

So you became a shithead? ;-)
I am an RTS fiend and I've never heard of this one. What is my major malfunction!?

If I may ask a stupid and somewhat unfair question, can any fans out there tell me if it more closely resembles AOE or Cossacks? If neither are there any noted RTS games it resembles? If it's like Cossacks or Dark Reign I'll save my money, if not it's time to buy. :D
low rated

Closer to AOE than Cossacks, but unique ;P

Ghorpm: I'm first to admit that! It would be better to show the actual gameplay without those ugly artificial effects...

Bloodygoodgames: LOL, if I had just watched the video there is NO way I'd buy the game. Truly truly awful video -- not doing yourself much good in the sales dept GOG with that POS :)
Watch any gameplay videos on the Youtube. This "trailer" video looks like a total mess. The game has surprisingly deep strategy part - many units have a lot of different bonuses when fighting other type of units. eg pikeman has -75% damage reduction vs archers and towers. That makes him a preferable frontliner.

It's definitely not one of those "we are really sorry but you ran out of food/ammo so your units will now rebel against you, you should have known better that they would and took care of it. You are completely $crewed" type of games if that's what you want to know. There is no hidden traps or overdid micromanagement here

TZAAAAAAR!!!
Never heard about this one, but looks interesting. By the comments is like a Age of Empires with some light RPG elements then?
Well I'm going to get it, but I'm not happy about the title. I'm sick of the foreigners putting letters into words where they don't belong! Where did they go to school? Really, what is that 'T' doing in "Tzar"? Thank god the intellectual western world doesn't feel the need to use phantom letters or unconventional letter combinations.

Oh, I remember this one. It got a really hefty marketing push over here, but people still did not buy it, and then it was forgotten by most. I might get it this time around.

Stooner: the video is terrible...
very poor quality, I think someone made a mistake and set compression too high

American doesn't even have a simple letter Ы http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yery
Of course foreigners have to invent all sort of things to write their stuff in such a lacking alphabet!
