Strike against the Darkfall!

Thunderscape, a classic 1990s dungeon crawler with real-time exploration of a vast and diverse underworld and challenging turn-based combat against many fearsome fiends of chaos, is available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

The world of Aden is in great peril. The demonic, corruptive power known as the Darkfall fills the world with monsters, abominations, and evil-inspiring artifacts. The realm is in dire need of defenders, and it's your job to lead them against the forces of chaos. You will explore a dark and dangerous underground to reach for the power you'll need to bring the light to where darkness reigns. A small party of stalwart adventurers seems to stand little chance against the hordes of evil. It's up to you to prove, that miracles do happen in fantasy worlds.

Thunderscape presents you with many time-proven RPG ideas that work together so well, that it's astounding that anyone would want to modify them. You get a party of six brave champions, a large gameworld to explore, lots of items to collect, stats to build, and enemies to slay. While roaming the world, the game progresses in real-time, switching to turn-based combat whenever you approach (or get ambushed by) an opponent. With everything that made dungeon crawlers so successful in the 1990 and some very distinctive steampunk-ish feel, this game is highly recommended to all cRPG fans looking for a challenge!

Set off to explore the world of Aden and save it from the corruptive forces of the Darkfall in Thunderscape, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

kyoudaigames: Hi everyone! Kyoudai Games is very happy and proud to be working with GOG to bring you Thunderscape, and Entomorph is in fact in the works.

Also, there is a copy of the strategy guide in hand we are working to get it to GOG ASAP.

Good to know, and thanks for participating in this thread! I have the Prima Secrets of the Games guide to World of Aden: Thunderscape in my hands, and it's a pretty hefty softcover book, weighing in at 265 pages. I still laugh when I read Peter Olafson's description of the game's first NPC (a humanoid rhinoceros named Theros) as someone who "sounds a bit like Jeremy Irons at 16 RPM."

The opening cinematic still gives me goosebumps, by the way: http://youtu.be/ixDhuOBbhZM

gandalf.nho: Not much time ago the tabletop RPG appeared in KS in a project for a new version and I remember people in GOG's crowdfunding topic discussing these 2 games (Thunderscape and Entmorph)

Crosmando: Same people who are publishing it here on GOG, they are reviving the old tabletop game as a Pathfinder scenario.
Yep, I remember this being cited too, only commented because was the first time I heared about both games
And bought :) As Sisters of Mercy sang: "I want more" :)

Licurg: Anybody else still think GOG is neglecting old classics ? :P
haha lol ... I dont think anything will stop the whiner's on this forum , but maybe this might shut them up for a few days at least .. :p
Will definitely be picking this up at some point. Thanks GOG.
Great addition GOG! Keep the SSI games coming!

timppu: Ok, maybe that's the reason I haven't got this game already, nor barely recognize it...
It was released on the far end of SSI's lifespan, and didn't got a lot of attention by then. It got average marks in France, with reviewers being reviewers : I just dug out my copy of Generation4 where it was featured, and it starts with calling it an "action role-playing game like Lands of Lore and Dungeon Master 2" and goes on whining about the pixelated graphics.
Another magazine (Joystick) explains to us that turn-based combat is "odd", that they "can't fathom the interest of this kind of system in terms of playability or tactics" and that it "lacks rhythm".

If the press was as "modern" as these two in the other countries, it's perfectly understandable it flew under everybody's radar. I only got & played it six or seven years ago myself.

Edit : I know it's SSG and not SSI, but since 1/ I always mixed up the two as a kid and 2/ we already have the Battlecry spinoffs here, how about releasing Warlords II & III, GOG lads ?

Well they don't have CARMAGEDDON 2?! here yet.
Ahh man now I know why I liked this game, it's a min-maxer paradise. I've got two Goreaux's with 3 Strength/Health and 20 Intelligence, with 75 Cast Spells, both with Mana Bolts and Charm. Plus a Human with 3 Intelligence, high stats elsewhere, and 75 in Firearms, PLUS I used gold to start the game with a Zipgun. AND at the forefront of my party I've got two Rapacians with 20 health, 3 Int and balanced elsewhere, with Shields and Swords.

Fun stuff, I didn't remember being able to recruit the minotaur at the start of the game.
SSI?! YES! :D
Gimme more SSI! Now that we've got a RPG let the next be a Wargame please. :)
arn't the dev/pub labels the wrong way around?

Nope. SSI Developed, and Kyoudai Games is the current owner of the IP.
RPG good, hack'n'slash not so good (for me at least ;)). Good thing it's a classic game though, otherwise we'd have half the pages in here discussing why it isn't so and why GOG sucks now :P
Glad to finally see this here. I had the chance to pick up the boxed version for peanuts back in the day and foolishly passed it up. I have EntoMorph already, but hopefully it won't take GOG long to get around to releasing it.

Also, I saw someone mention Veil of Darkness above. Make it happen, GOG.
Yes! More SSI games. I'm all for that.
