Strike against the Darkfall!

Thunderscape, a classic 1990s dungeon crawler with real-time exploration of a vast and diverse underworld and challenging turn-based combat against many fearsome fiends of chaos, is available on GOG.com for only $5.99.

The world of Aden is in great peril. The demonic, corruptive power known as the Darkfall fills the world with monsters, abominations, and evil-inspiring artifacts. The realm is in dire need of defenders, and it's your job to lead them against the forces of chaos. You will explore a dark and dangerous underground to reach for the power you'll need to bring the light to where darkness reigns. A small party of stalwart adventurers seems to stand little chance against the hordes of evil. It's up to you to prove, that miracles do happen in fantasy worlds.

Thunderscape presents you with many time-proven RPG ideas that work together so well, that it's astounding that anyone would want to modify them. You get a party of six brave champions, a large gameworld to explore, lots of items to collect, stats to build, and enemies to slay. While roaming the world, the game progresses in real-time, switching to turn-based combat whenever you approach (or get ambushed by) an opponent. With everything that made dungeon crawlers so successful in the 1990 and some very distinctive steampunk-ish feel, this game is highly recommended to all cRPG fans looking for a challenge!

Set off to explore the world of Aden and save it from the corruptive forces of the Darkfall in Thunderscape, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

Mivas: I wonder how many people demanding a constant stream of classics will buy this day 1.
Wanting more classics does not mean wanting to buy every single one of them. People still have different tastes. Some likes RPGs, some don't. Getting more games means getting more choices, and that's what people want, not to instabuy everything that's older than 10 years. One can say the same about the people who wants modern games. You might snap up Hammerwatch on release, but does that mean you'll grab Wargame: European Escalation?

Anyway, I've never heard of this one. Looks interesting, and it's also cool to see a new company onboard. Interesting story behind the rerelease too.

xep624: How come I never heard about this game? Looks like Black Crypt, although the graphics are nicer...
Probably because it was released when SSI was already in decline. This game and Entomorph was their try to establish their RPG knowledge with their own setting, after they lost the TSR license. They were not really advertised, and afaik not too great successes either. Wishlisted for now.. GOG gief us the two Dark Sun games!
Want more SSI titles. :)
I hope Entomorph is coming up I won't get this before the series is complete;)
Ummm... YAY!
Me wantee, me can't have-ee atm but me wantee!

Good to see some SSI appearing :)
Neat. I'm going to give this a go. I was expecting more extras though.

I know. I'm just curious if their fascination with new games means they are all talk and no action given their "New = Bad; must immediately diss it vs. Old = Good" binary view.
Been wanting to see Thunderscape on GOG since I joined the service years ago. I have owned the game on CD-ROM since 1995, when I'd play it on a Pentium 133 MHZ with 16 megabytes of RAM, a 2 gigabyte hard drive, a 4x CD-ROM drive, and a 17" monitor. It was indeed an attempt by SSI to start a new fantasy role-playing world as they were losing their grip on the D&D/AD&D license, and sadly it failed, but this game sure had a lot of potential, and it did measure up to that for the most part. I still own the original manual and the excellent play guide written by Peter Olafson, whose sense of humor made it read less like a technical manual and more like a tongue-in-cheek fantasy novel. Thank you for acquiring this game, GOG; I'm off to order it now.
SSI f@#k yeah! :)
The game that is the only reason I have D-Fend + DosBox installed separately. This is so getting bought!
Am I the only one that sees GOG's classic releases are only dungeons set RPGs? I'm not interested!

GOG, any chance of getting that guide as an extra? Please?

The 3 books as scanned pdf's would be cool too.

All RPG's except perhaps a few in the 80's and early 90's were dungeon crawlers.

Well, there was a time when GOG only seemed to release RTS games, in which I'm not interested at all. I guess it's our turn now. This thing is all about personal preferences.
