The Samaritan Paradox, a hand-drawn indie point-and-click in the best tradition of adventure gaming classics, is available 20% off on GOG.com. That's only $7.99 for the first week!

A famous writer has died. His daughter seeks the help of you, Ord Salomon, to find his secret last novel. During the search, questions will emerge. Did her father really kill himself? What is the secret novel all about? What is going on at the island of Fardo? Crack codes, decipher secrets & find a lost fortune in this exciting detective adventure, with retro style hand-drawn art, 2000+ voice lines, 60+ rooms to explore, 20+ characters to talk to, 1 lost fortune to find!

The Samaritan Paradox is set in Sweden in the 80's. Ord Salomon has agreed to help Sara Bergwall find the book her father, Jonatan Bergwall, wrote before he died. During the course of this treasure hunt, he learns that Jonatan was investigating the weapons industry, and more specifically some covert affairs with foreign dictatorships. But more questions arise. What is the book about, and why does Sara want Ord to find it for her? Did her Alzheimer's-stricken mother know the secret before she grew too demented to share it? And how did Jonatan actually die?

If you're in the mood for some classic point-and-click adventuring and you value traditional approach to that genre, you can't go wrong with The Samaritan Paradox, for only $7.99 on GOG.com. The 25% off launch promo offer lasts until Friday, April 25, at 9:59AM GMT.
Gotta love the point and click. So much in the queue.

Me too. :D
looks nice. can't do much wrong for that price, i guess *bought*

ps: great that there are more and more FLAC soundtracks.
On the wishlist you go. A bit of bad timing with all these higher profile adventure games being released.
Interesting. Hadn't heard of this title before now. I'll put it on my wishlist and read some reviews first before throwing my money at it :o

Novotnus: You can check out this nice demo:
http://faravidinteractive.wordpress.com/2013/12/10/new-demo-available/
Alright tried it.
If the demo is indicative of the quality of the complete product it's pretty much what I expected, an average to above average AGS game.
The graphics are nice, the voice acting is so-so and the writing in the demo is pretty average.
It's not terrible, but it's also not a Wadjet game.
Thanks for the link!
wadjet eye games are usually AGS games ;)
It's $8.99 on Steam instead of $7.99 here. I'm buying it immediately just to encourage publishers to offer better deals here.
intriguing... this came out of nowhere... im in!

Impaler26: Another point and click adventure? How original! :D
Lately we're drowning in those adventures, i would prefer to see more RPGs come to GOG.
Well, considering that many RPGs are nothing more than an adventure game mashed together with a stats-based tactical combat game, you could just roll your own RPGs by getting one adventure game and one tactical combat game, and then each time you solve a puzzle in the adventure game you have to go fight and win a battle in the tactical combat game before going back and working on the next puzzle in the adventure game. Also, set up a kitchen timer to random times and every time it goes off, random encounter!

With M adventure games and N tactical combat games, that's M*N different RPGs. If GOG releases an RPG, you only get 1 more RPG, but if GOG releases and adventure game you get N more RPGs.

(Now quality RPGs might be a different story, but your comment only mentioned quantity. Considering the size of most people's backlogs, I don't think quantity is really that much of an issue.)
Is this an AGS (Adventure game studio) game?
high rated
Thanks GOG! Great to see it here, thanks for your help and positive trust in Screen 7. Yes, don't worry, Remi is firmly secured for two more games part of the "Devil Came Through Here" Trilogy ;) But also very pleased to publish Petter's game, he's been a good friend from the AGS community for over a decade now. I owe him this much. Thanks folks for buying the game DRM-free from GOG! Like, the way we bought games when I first met Petter... Man, the internet barely existed at that point. What was GOG then? Great New Games presumably? Hahaha!! Well, rather like it is today then. Thanks for that! :)

Hope you folks enjoy the game.

Just played the demo, liked it and bought the full version. So what if there aren't any reviews, I'm trusting my gut instinct on this one and my instinct tells me this is a good game.

It's 4 AM here but I need to find those Swedish kronor!

Off now.
I can't buy it this month (Dark Souls 2 is not free, lol) but when I'll play it, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it a lot, my guts tell me that this game could easily kick the asses of Moebius/Broken Age/Broken Sword 5 altogether :)
