Never Deal with a Dragon!

Shadowrun Returns, a classy turn-based RPG set in one of the most iconic Sci-Fi worlds where cyberpunk meets fantasy, sporting excellent character development mechanics and a sleek visual style drawing you right into the dark and dangerous Seattle metroplex, is available 40% off on GOG.com, for Windows and Mac OS X. That's $11.99 for the first 48 hours.

People will tell you about the word "Shadowrun". They'll explain that it describes the act of falling off the grid to perform some shady doings for a power that prefers to stay anonymous. Like one corporation trying to silently eliminate some key "assets" of another. Or a high-profile magician in need of some fresh virgin blood. Or the law going after someone that would normally be out of their reach, because of that whole corpo-extraterritoriality thing. Get it? That kind of stuff. But I'll tell you this man, I think that's not where the word originates. I've been around for a long time, and I've seen some things no one was ever supposed to see. I know things that you generally wouldn't want to know. Dangerous, that kind of knowledge, a health hazard if you catch my drift. So, believe me when I tell you: it's not actually "shadowrun". It's "shadow-run". A word describing the true hierarchy of power in our good old sixth world. This whole planet is now being run by shadows whose motivation and goals guys like you and me won't ever understand. I don't even mean the dragons. There's something else out there. Something… different.

Shadowrun Returns, a single player, turn-based tactical RPG taking place in a fan-favorite cyberpunk slash fantasy setting. Enter the amazingly depicted futuristic Seattle metroplex, and embark on your mission to uncover the mystery of a series of gruesome killings. Who knows what you'll discover? In the world of Shadowrun nothing is what it seems at first glance. With deep and involving storyline, top-notch turn-based tactical combat mechanics, and deep skill-based character development system, this vibrant imaginative role-playing game just keeps on giving!

Whether you are a die-hard fan of the pen&paper predecessor, or you're just looking for an extensive computer RPG experience, you can't go wrong with Shadowrun Returns, for only 11.99 on GOG.com. The 40% off release discount offer last for 48 hours only, that's until Thursday, December 12, at 10:59AM GMT.
Great game, but already have it on Steam...

amok: was there not something about future DLC's only being available on Steam? Which again will have effect on modding, as the versions are not compatible?
Yes I remember reading this as well, Microsoft still owns the IP and they where the reason in the first place the game started as a Steam only game if I´m not mistaken.

Edit: Forgot about the update on their Kickstarter page that states that this is no longer true.

Greetings, 'GoG' community!

This is my first post ever on this web-site, in case you wonder why you haven't seen me before.

As is for the release, I'm waiting for the 'DragonFall' edition coming January 2014, I don't see a point in this one alone. I hope it comes to 'GoG'.

got it on Steam, gonna buy here anyway. nice place to have a nice game.
Nice to see it here, but I would recommend people not to buy it. The reason is that Dragonfall is coming in january, and if you get the base game, it's 15 USD to upgrade. If you wait, you can get both for 25. And yes it has me a bit miffed, since I have the base game already xD
So how's the user made content for this release? I've understood that some one has made the original Nintendo Shadowrun as a mod for this, so I'd be interested to know do those work with this, or should I just get this from Steam.

VoxDeNube: Greetings, 'GoG' community!

I was waiting for this release on 'GoG' for some time now, great work!

I have information, that 'HareBrained Schemes' is working on new expansion called 'DragonFall' for this game, so I was wondering about things... will that be available through 'GoG' later as well? They said that they will sell both this game and 'DragonFall' expansion for about 25$ on 'Steam'. Considering they now have DRM-Free contract with 'Microsoft', I figured that 'Campaign Pack' will come to 'GoG' as well, but now seeing this, I have doubts... how it will stack up? Will it be the same case as is with 'Sword of the Stars - The Pit', upgrading your game? Or 'GoG' user's will only get this version?

Also I noticed this game costs a lot more here, than on 'Steam'. Is that a hint, that yes, 'DragonFall' is coming here, or is it just 'HareBrained Scheme' idea of DRM-Free value?

Thank you for your time, reading my post. I hope someone can answer this and clear out my mind.

Keep up the great work 'GoG' team!
You are my favourite video-game distributor of them all!
From their Kickstarter
"We just want to send out a quick update to share some good news. Thanks to a new agreement we were able to negotiate with our partners at Microsoft, Harebrained Schemes is pleased to announce that we are now able to release fully DRM-free versions of Shadowrun Returns and future expansions such as Berlin.

The DRM-free versions of SRR and Berlin will continue to be fully supported. You'll be able to download all game patches, use the Shadowrun Returns editor and experience user-generated content downloaded from third-party sites such as Nexus.

We’re starting work to get Shadowrun Returns available on GOG.com right now - not sure how long that will take but we’ll let you know as soon as we have an answer.

We’re very excited we’re finally able to offer Shadowrun DRM-free to everyone and look forward to making it available!"

Nevermind my previous post. I get it.

I would buy this again right now just to have it on my game shelf if the Linux version was included also. Congrats on a nice release though.
Nice to see it here.

Any information regarding upcoming DLC (like that Berlin thing) and mod support?

See my post, Dragonfall coming in January. It's a separate 15 USD purchase on steam, so probably same here. I'd wait for the combined version for 25 USD instead, if you don't have it yet. Mods no idea, I just saw them on steamworks, but didn't have time to get any of them.
Great to see this here, but I won't be picking it up as I already bought it on Steam (as that was looking like the only way to play it ever). It's great they were able to work out a new deal with Microsoft.

I should be keeping a better eye on my kickstarter backed projects. I had no idea until you mentioned it.
Being now available on GOG should have been a give away to me, I must be tired.
Any way I have a steam copy now from kickstarter, however I must share the love so I'll grab it here as well. Though I haven't had a chance to play it yet, the save system has me a little worried from what I heard about it. A few games lately seem to be using a save point system and not always to good effect either.

VoxDeNube: You didn't answer my question, I already knew the info which you posted to me. It looks like it is coming to GoG, but I thought they are going to release it both together. Now with this here, I'm just wondering how the 'upgrading' will work considering this costs almost as the same as they plan to release on 'Steam' with expansion.
Looking at Steamprices, GoG will sell this game for the same price as Steam has so I would guess they will have a similar deal on GoG as well.

I think I was wrong about the price tag, it costs about the same, I guess it was discounted or something. Now I'm just wondering about the 'upgrading' issue. It just boggles my mind on how it works, I just don't get it. Do you buy this for example 10$ and later pay 15$ more to 'upgrade' it or something? Keeping in mind that 'DragonFall' is actually coming to 'GoG'.
