They say that magic of blood is the ultimate kind of magic. It pleases the mighty dark spirits of the Deadside, giving its user power that no human being should ever wield. But the human soul is easily corruptible by such temptations. There are always those, who would reach for the forbidden fruit. They will kill to taste it. They will kill again to keep it. But the Man of Shadows, the traveler between the worlds, stands guard. His destiny is to maintain balance between the Deadside and the Liveside. By the power of gruesome voodoo artifacts, he's implored to stop all strife--by any means necessary.

Shadow Man is a third-person perspective action game that will amaze you with its dark story and aesthetics. You will explore two overlapping worlds, held together by the power of eternal magic. The nonlinear gameplay will take you to numerous impressive locations with many terrifying enemies to defeat and clever puzzles to solve. If you enjoy action games with deep and unique setting, solid gameplay, and dark mood, you can't go wrong with this comic book-inspired classic!

Start your fascinating journey through the dark realms of bloody magic and madness in Shadow Man, for only $5.99 on GOG.com, today! Special bonus codes for the comic book and $5.99 discount for the official Valiant Comics t-shirt will be e-mailed to you. This special offer lasts until Tuesday, September 24, at 9:59AM GMT.

Yeah but you have "tryk" and "træk". You've no idea how difficult it was for me to remember which is pull and which is push. I found, however, a perfect solution: tryk in polish is a word for a young ram and when it attacks you it will definitely push you so finally I was certain which is which ;)
Looking at the gamecard, this game really doesn't screenshot too well. The graphics look pretty whack on the video too. But I guess that's late 90s 3d for ya

I'll still be picking it though, due to my vague memories of it being pretty cool.

for me it was always enough to start the game and find myself in that awesome starting location in the graveyard - the late autumn sun, the calm sounds of nature, and the certainty that things will get ugly soon :) just perfect!

In my opinion it is not very hard. Although there are sometimes many enemies, you cannot die, because you are already on the dead side. Sounds logical, doesn't it? Instead you restart at a specific point in the level. But it was very rarely that my life bar was empty.

Another point are the platform sections. They are good, but if you fail, you normally die, because you fall into lava or something. But luckily the game has no checkpoints and you can save and load where ever you want.

I really liked the growing powers of the character. You collect dark souls and the more you have, the more "soul gates" you are able to pass. Also you get some nice tattoos, allowing you to touch fire, walk over lava and so on - so you get to areas in already visited locations where you were not able to get to before.

All in all a very well balanced game that never gets boring (OK, maybe sometimes when you cannot figure out where to go next, because the paths connecting the different areas can be a bit confusing). The control of the character is - compared to todays standards - a bit difficult, but you get used to it quickly.

Edit: Ah, I forgot another cool thing: You can equip both hands and use them independently. So you can fire your standard (and later very powerful) shadow gun and a voodoo weapon for special enemies, or use a voodoo shield, etc, etc. That gives some variety for an individual playstyle.

Screen shots can be tricky with this one due to the fact its a dark game so you have to up the gamma so you can actually see clearly what is there for screen shot only type purposes.

I love the temples you visit in this game, there are a lot of nice visuals. Another thing I like is the more powerful you become as Shadowman his eyes glow brighter and once you get nearer the end of the game the green glow off his eyes leave small burning trails.

When your ShadowGun becomes more powerful it gets a bit louder and the projectiles also get bigger leaving longer whispy trails, full of nice touches.

You also get a good variation in the different monsters depending on what area you are visiting.

One of my favourite moments in the game is near the beginning at the Marrow Gates and you meet Jaunty for the first time, then a little later when you see the asylum in Deadside in all its glory as the cutscene pans round it, very imposing.

So much depth and atmosphere to this game. If you like your arcade style adventure games with a good horror element then this is definitely a game that should be in your collection.
Excellent release, added to wishlist!

JudasIscariot: So what is the difference between using that double s and just writing " ss " in a word?
Since I am lazy (and have not much time, today)...put this in google-translator and have a good laugh (because I'm sure, whatever GT gives out, will make not much sense ;)

DukeNukemForever: Regarding pronunciation the ß sounds more sharpen.
Definitely not:

"In der gesprochenen Standardsprache ist die Aussprache der s-Laute und der vorangehenden Vokale in Fällen wie dassdas, GrießGries(gram), fasstfast oder bissbis identisch."

Barry_Woodward: Did Night Dive Studios have anything to do with this release? I know they're not listed as the publisher like System Shock 2 and I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, but last I knew they were in talks with Valiant Entertainment.

https://www.facebook.com/NightDiveStudios/posts/256186831190078
nope, it's released by Valiant themselves here. More than likely Night dive has the rights to take this release and screenshots and publish them on Steam.

Oh, you remember me, why I am glad being a native speaker and do not have to LEARN that :-)

I can't make heads or tails of what GT spits out.

So no laziness for you! :P
