There's a man who leads a life of danger.

Secret Agent, a classic Apogee platformer from the EGA-era, with elaborate level design and a licence to kill, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99

You are Agent 006½, the agency's top man specializing in impossible missions. This game tells the story of three such tasks. Over the course of three episodes--The Hunt for Red Rock Rover, Kill Again Island, andDr. No Body--you will infiltrate enemy bases, eliminate designated targets, avoid detection, and steal top secret plans. Well, either that, or you'll run, jump, and shoot your way through in a flashy, camp environment full of platforms, traps and puzzles. Might be more of the latter, than the first.

Secret Agent is a run-and-jump platformer as classic as they get. Released in 1992 by Apogee Software it uses the previously tested mechanics and engine of the Crystal Caves but adds spy pulp-novel setting to the picture. The game sports large, cleverly designed levels filled with traps and puzzles. There are secret bonuses to find on every stage and a varied cast of enemies--ranging from ninjas to robots--to either avoid or eliminate as you carry out your secret mission.

The odds are you won't live to see tomorrow, but isn't risk the spice of life for a Secret Agent? The licence to kill is now only $5.99 on GOG.com!
I remeber playing this at kids club when i was a kid! Got blasted with nostalgia when i saw this

RafaelLopez: It's amusing how the main character looks like Duke Nukem.
He kind of looks more like Mylo Steamwitz.

FoxZero: I'll have to get this. The little guy looks like Duke!
I shall call him...mini-Duke!

Mini-Duke, "Damn! Those *DVS* bastards are gonna pay for shooting my *sports car*."

RaggieRags: We need a shareware bundle. :-)

Anyone remember those shareware CD-ROM discs, with hundreds of shareware games in them? One of those things was the first CD-ROM disc we owned. So many hours of my youth wasted.
I regret nothing!!
I thought this was No One Lives Forever for half a second :(
HNNNNGGGGG. Ouch. GoG just threw the Nostalgia Spear right through my heart and transformed me into a 7 year old child again. I absolutely adored this game way back when and I'm so glad to see the complete series here!

This can only mean good things! Next up will definitely be Crystal Caves but after that? Cosmos' Cosmic Adventure?

I think Cosmo has not aged well, sorry - the visible screen just is too small. Crystal Caves, however, has. :-)

Since a few comparisons have been made, of the recent slew of retro platformers to be released here, what would your all picks be for the best of them? I'm actually thinking of getting one of them but I don't want anything REALLY hard and I've heard a few of them can be.

:) Thanks but I was actually refering to the recent rash of them. DK is a classic but (while I don't personally have it) I've certainly played it enough and it seems to pop up wherever you go. Some of these other, like SA and Hocus Pocus, I've either never heard of or barely heard of so I was more interested in a take on those.
My second favourite platformer after Commander Keen! I'm not big into platformers these days, but I'm still tempted to buy it. Maybe if it goes on promo someday...

Ummm, Keen is on here? Where? And I agree it's a great game.

I never sait it was on here. Just my favourite platformer overall. ;) I wish it was, though. I played that game to death back in the early 90s, when I was a kid. I felt very smart when I figured out how to break the final machine in the fifth instalment. :D
Hocus Pocus is the best (so far) platformer on GOG right now. After 5 mins getting used to the feel of the controls the game is a lot of fun.
