Re-charge and go!

Re-Volt, a dynamic racing game with tons of fun and excitement that only RC toy cars could possibly provide, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99.

Go through the pipe, use the cardboard ramp to jump across the puddle, zip through the hole in the picket fence and take a sharp turn to fit on the sidewalk. Look at your opponent, he didn't make the turn, and now his car tumbles into the storm drain. Oh no! The battery runs low, and the finish line is still fifty feet away. Time to use the boost, you were saving through the whole race! Wooosh!!! Damn that pidgeon, why did he had to be in the way. Nevermind, the finish line. So close. Battery failing. So slow. Oh no, the buzzing of a tiny engine just around the corner. Get pass the finish line. Now. Victory!

Re-Volt will make your inner child squeal with joy! If you ever got to play with RC cars (or, really, any other type of toy cars as there is no limit to child's imagination), you will find the same whimsical excitement in this fantastic, colorful game. With many types of RC cars to choose from, a great selection of imaginative tracks improvised in some of the most unexpected places, and dynamic gameplay nicely conveying the "light" physics of toy cars. If you're looking for a racing game packed with tons of fun, this classic title is a safe pick for you!

Batteries and plastic can easily prove to be far more exciting than gasoline and metal in Re-Volt, on GOG.com, for only $5.99
This is a great racing game. Never played the PC version but played it a lot back in the day on a console (don't remember which console).

tinyE: Anyone here still in love with RC Pro Am of the late NES? Ever throw your controller against the wall after hitting an oil slick with a foot to the finish and a huge lead? Good times.
YES! Loved that game. And its cousin, with the boats. Cobra something or other.
Re-volt?

RE-VOOOOOLT!!!!

OMG thanks GOG, I love you guys!! I can't describe how awesome this 5th birthday celebration is going, first you bring us Kyrandia and now Re-volt? You keep completing my wishes from the community wishlist like that and by end of the month we'll have Grim Fandango.
Sweet, gonna have to buy soonish :D

I've been waiting for a ps1 version to release on psn (had no idea it was on pc and dreamcast etc). And the PC version is apparently the best version so i'm happy.

That said, never played a racer on a keyboard before, gonna take some learning.

tinyE: That's odd. I can't type it in to get it, but it's there because I bought it and that's how I get to it. Still, I should be able to type re-volt in the box and get it, but no.

Dr_Worm: In most search engines, a hyphen denotes something you don't want in your search results. So I think the GOG forum search thinks you're looking for "re" and filtering out "volt" results in the process.

EDIT: If you search for "volt" you'll find the forum.

EDIT 2: But if you search "re-vol", Republic: The Revolution shows up (like it's ignoring the hyphen). Intriguing.
Thanks, found it.

Alternatively, try hook up some Plug n' Play Joystick/controller and play Re-Volt - it's quite different from keyboard playing but just as fun!
Perfect release.

I hope we will get Rollcage at some point too :)

vulchor: I'm curious as to how GOG made this compatible with Win7 and 8? Did they use the 1.2 patch made from the folks at http://rv12.revoltzone.net/?
avatar
Lashiec: Two questions though. Did you use the unofficial 1.2 patch? And does it include the CD audio from the original version?
Any info on these two questions?

Thiev said in the game's forum that GOG version is 1.2. It seems to be the latest beta though and not the latest alpha. Thiev also said that the situtation does seem to warrant a closer look, and people will talk to people.

As for the CD-Audio, I think the music is in mp3 format in the directory music, going by this post.
Instant buy! :)

Edit: Of course - thank you GoG! :*

Very true, gonna have to invest in an xbox controller some time I guess XD

I actually got used to the keyboard quite quickly, its not too different from playing with the old ps1 d-pad controller. Both are all buttons.
I bought the Dreamcast version off eBay about a week ago, now I learn that some of the recent patches help bring some of the console features like split screen multiplayer, I'm kind of regretting the fact I didn't wait.

Needless to say, I picked up the PC version very quickly.
Many thanks to GOG for bringing this here

It's amazing how so many years later the remaining small community for this game is still alive and active so you can always find an online game to play with other people
FUCK YEAH! such an awesome racing game, great for playing locally with friends!

This game got me so bad, and I've never been much into racing games. This, and IGNITION too. :)
