The platformer king returns in his 2D glory!

Rayman Origins, a whimsical, colorful, and phenomenally playable reboot bringing the series back to its 2D roots and allowing to visit its fantastic world with up to three friends in co-op mode, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $9.99 for the next 48 hours!

Rayman is an iconic character and his platformer games entertained generations of gamers. As many other platformer series, his adventures also took a turn into the realm of 3D. They were quite successful at that, mind you, but there's something about the run-and-jump genre, that simply makes it work best in two dimensions. Rayman Origins takes us back to the 2D roots of platformer gaming, and reminds us why this kind of graphics and this kind of gameplay is a perfect match. Plus, it introduces a lot of fresh ideas while doing so.

Rayman Origins is an explosion of action, color, fun, and joy. The cartoony 2D graphics pictures a beautiful world full of magic, wonder, and strangeness that will instantly charm its explorers. The fast-paced platforming gameplay paired with perfect controls and masterful level design make this title an instant classic of the platformer genre. The tone of the game is whimsical and lighthearted, but that does not mean it comes without challenge. Luckily, you can bring up to three friends along for the mad chase through the Glade of Dreams in the well-executec co-op mode. Whether you are a Rayman fan looking to be reunited with some of the iconic characters from the series, or a newcomer in the Raymanverse, this game is guaranteed to bring you much fun and joy.

If you've ever enjoyed a platformer game--any platformer game!--there's a great chance you'll instantly fall in love with Rayman Origins. Get it now, DRM-free, for only $9.99 on GOG.com. The half-price offer lasts until Thursday, June 6, at 9:59AM GMT.

Zoidberg: Interesting release for a kind of boring game.

Art is pretty good but it's not the -most- important in a game.

Silverhawk170485: Are you serious or just trolling?
What's important for you in a game?
Rayman Origins has all, a good Jump&Run must have. Precise controls, a good leveldesign and a medium difficulty. If you like a hardcore difficulty you only have to collect all gems hidden in the levels (which isn't easy), then a secret world will open with hardcore levels.
No, I'm serious. Totally not trolling. I was quite happy buying it and quite happy at first.

But I quickly got bored by mostly everything. It's always the same. *shrugs*
So, a friend of mine and I played through this whole game coop on the PS3. Is there any real benefit to getting the PC version? Is there some form of online coop or something so I can play with people around the world and/or you lovely folks, or is it all local?
Thank you both for the response, I will indeed hang on for a Steam sale then :)

It's all local, don't think there is any reason to buy it again if you have it on a console.

The reason to buy it again would be for the awesome soundtrack, if they include the entire thing. Here in the US, I cannot find a copy for sale anywhere, except Amazon.com, which only sells a small part of the soundtrack. Can anyone confirm that the entire game's soundtrack is included?

Well, I can tell you one thing: there's 36 tracks included in our soundtrack which is the same amount of tracks as included in the collector's edition of the game :D.

GOG is talking me into buying a second copy of this game (already own the Steam version)! Did they offer you 30 pieces of silver to tell me that, Judas?

=p

*Spends 9.99 USD*

The answer remains between me and the silver :P
7 mins left... To buy or not to buy? :>
Good job. Keep bring more good Ubisoft titles like that one.

Crosmando: Obviously GOG.com themselves consider them to be DRM, or they wouldn't have removed them.
avatar
JMich: They have? When did that happen? And why do I have 3 Heroes V cd-keys on my account?
GOG doesn't consider cd-keys as DRM, and most of GOG's clients (aka those who haven't complained about it) don't consider it either.

Oh, and just to say it again, Assassin's Creed: Revelations is DRM free. You need to install UPlay and nothing else. Play offline, no need for serials, no need for accounts, no need for anything. Same with Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Update: Jamyskis tells me that AC:B does require a one time online activation, post here
MichaelPalin on the other hand was able to install and play the game while his network connection was disabled.
There are ways to install ACB, play it without activation and more importantly to those who are concerned about being able to play their games long after any activation servers are gone, it can be copied over to another computers and continue playing offline.

ACR can also be installed and played without activating the game itself, but first you must have been logged in at least once to Uplay, update the client, then find a newer crack for the client and hope that it still works with the ACR. If you need to play the game on another computer it also needs the "login once, update and find a new crack hoping it will work for your game"-procedure. Any huge changes to the client may force the crackers to find alternative methods to bypass the DRM and I would not bet on them to care to include support for all previously released games on that service when they are competing each other who gets to release crack for latests games first.

Choose UbiDRM, if you don't care that casual gamers can pirate your game when it is new and only wish to prevent anyone from being to able to enjoy it years after you have closed the servers regardless if they bought the game or not.

JAAHAS: snip
There are ways to crack almost anything. I was quoting the Ubisoft support articles that say you don't need to register the game at all. MichaelPalin had that experience, since he installed and played with his network card deactivated, Jamyskis had to do a one-time online activation.
So we weren't talking about cracking the game, but whether it needed activation or not.
When Uplay/Ubisoft games get a patch, do they need to be updated via the client, or do they have some kind of launcher with an autoupdater? Cause the whole "one-time activation" sounds OK, but if you had to keep reinstalling and using the Uplay client every time you want to patch it, it kinda removes the "one-time" thing.

The UPlay client is needed even for the one-time activation games. No idea about the patching, since I haven't played any game that required patching after installing.
