The platformer king returns in his 2D glory!

Rayman Origins, a whimsical, colorful, and phenomenally playable reboot bringing the series back to its 2D roots and allowing to visit its fantastic world with up to three friends in co-op mode, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $9.99 for the next 48 hours!

Rayman is an iconic character and his platformer games entertained generations of gamers. As many other platformer series, his adventures also took a turn into the realm of 3D. They were quite successful at that, mind you, but there's something about the run-and-jump genre, that simply makes it work best in two dimensions. Rayman Origins takes us back to the 2D roots of platformer gaming, and reminds us why this kind of graphics and this kind of gameplay is a perfect match. Plus, it introduces a lot of fresh ideas while doing so.

Rayman Origins is an explosion of action, color, fun, and joy. The cartoony 2D graphics pictures a beautiful world full of magic, wonder, and strangeness that will instantly charm its explorers. The fast-paced platforming gameplay paired with perfect controls and masterful level design make this title an instant classic of the platformer genre. The tone of the game is whimsical and lighthearted, but that does not mean it comes without challenge. Luckily, you can bring up to three friends along for the mad chase through the Glade of Dreams in the well-executec co-op mode. Whether you are a Rayman fan looking to be reunited with some of the iconic characters from the series, or a newcomer in the Raymanverse, this game is guaranteed to bring you much fun and joy.

If you've ever enjoyed a platformer game--any platformer game!--there's a great chance you'll instantly fall in love with Rayman Origins. Get it now, DRM-free, for only $9.99 on GOG.com. The half-price offer lasts until Thursday, June 6, at 9:59AM GMT.

yonazzan73: Really? Whenever I start the game the Steam client strarts, connects and then lets me play. And when I quit the game it shows me some ads I didn't ask for and keeps running in the background hoping I don't notice.

Maybe it's not DRM, but it's annoying as hell.

So I agree 100% with you, GOG>Steam by a long shot

Wafflecones: Actually, those "ads you didn't ask for" can be easily disabled in the Steam Settings menu in a couple of seconds. But please, continue acting immaturely by complaining about things you evidently don't know enough about to do so.
.

So I'm immature because I don't want to spend time disabling things I should have been consulted about in the first place?

So, how's this for immature:

Go suck Mr Newell's cock, maybe you don't have a problem with that neither!

Sorry about that, but sometimes you kids, just kill me

No, you're immature for feeling that having to take a couple of seconds to disable ads that a lot of people find useful is a fair criticism of Steam.

Also, I probably wouldn't mind sucking Gabe's cock.

agaiz: To anyone who bought the game already or to GOG: how many tracks does the soundtrack include?
There is a version on iTunes but it's incomplete (all the tracks by Christophe Héral are missing).

tfishell: Is Heral the one who did the OST for Beyond Good and Evil? We're lucky to have that here.
Yeah the same guy. According to Wikipedia he is even working on the soundtrack for a second game:

Wow, I didn't even know that project was still active! Now all I still lack for perfect French gaming happiness is an announcement for Little Big Adventure 3.... =D

hucklebarry: ok, bought ;) The backlog wasn't ready for this, but I definitely support newer games DRM free!

one last question...

Is there any merit to playing these in order (I have all the GOG Rayman games) or do these stand alone?
As far as i can remember the Rayman games are stand alones
each game has its own storyline and its not really conected.
I migth remember wrong about this though since its been some time ive played these games myself but i seam to remember that the games is like the mario games but with cuter grapichs with a difrent take on the storyline each time.

Hmm, really tempted to get this even though i already got it For Ps3.
Included soundtrack sounds great and i cant complain about the price either.

And to think I was wondering why this game wasn't already on this site with the other Rayman titles after that Ubisoft sale a couple weeks ago...

Excellent release! All these game deals in the past month have me spent, so I can't afford to get it right now. The fact that my wallet is bleeding means you're doing well, GOG!
Do not hesitate to buy this game. It's the best platformer I've played in years and it was well worth the $60 I paid for it.
Beautiful and fantastic game. Playing with friends and hitting them is hilarious (though for a first playthrough I'd suggest a max of two players, otherwise it becomes too easy since you can go on as long as one player survives).
Wow! Great release. Wishlisted.
I did not see this coming, not for a few years anyway.

What an awesome week, both new releases were high on my wishlist.

I'll buy this tomorrow when I get the chance. Played the demo on the PlayStation Vita and enjoyed it for the most part. Hurray for platformers! :D
Didn't know the series got rebooted a year ago. Nice addition to GOG
Is this a Steam Code or is it a full standalone installer? I tend to not bother with games if they aren't Steam codes anymore, as I play from multiple locations often.

Can someone answer this question please, as I can't seem to spot what format the product comes in.

GOG offers DRM-free games. Since Steam is DRM, you do not get a Steam code by buying here. Wait for a sale on Rayman origins if you are so inclined.

No GOG game comes with a steam code.
