In the dark, not alone.

Penumbra Collection, a set of three gripping horror games with a thick atmosphere of overwhelming terror and rich, interactive environment, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the next two days!

Cold sweat running down your back, heart racing, you feel your hands tremble as you rest them on your keyboard. This is only a game--you tell yourself--I can play it, I can get through this. But the dimmed lights, and the silence of the night, make you feel like the real world does not exist anymore. It's only you, and the dark mystery before you. You can almost smell the damp, frowzy corridor as you progress slowly towards the half-open door. The darkness behind it swirls and creeps as if it was more than just the absence of light. It's only a game, you tell yourself once more--but the fear is real. It does not come from the screen. It originates deep inside you. It was always there, and the game it's just a trigger. Deep inside you suspect that dark things do exist in this world. The most frightening thing is: you start to believe it.

Penumbra Collection features all three episodes of the sensational horror series: Overture, that began the story of lethal terror and insanity, Black Plague, which picks up the tale where the first game abruptly ends, and Requiem, providing a chilling conclusion to the series. You will face unspeakable nightmares in eerie settings that will send chills down your spine while you unravel their dark and unnerving mysteries. From the masters of gaming frights, that later developed the memorable Amnesia: The Dark Descent, comes this modern horror classic. If you're a fan of the genre, your collection simply won't be complete without it!

There's more terror in the world than we can possibly imagine. Turn, and face the darkness creeping behind your back in Penumbra Collection, for only $4.99 on GOG.com. The 50% discount offer lasts 48 hours, that's until Thursday, August 1, at 9:59AM GMT.
I'm not interested in these because I have them and Amnesia already but it's nice to see them together on GOG. Hopefully we'll have A Machine For Pigs here closer to the release date and I'll buy it here.
FINALLY the Rock as come back......OOOPS wrong thread.

Finally, great addition. Now I can 86 my bug laden hard copy and since I got Amnesia only to find out it doesn't run on my system I can remedy my lack of good horror games.

All I need to do now is go beg someone for it. :D

tarasis: Nice release and great price. I already have it through buying it or a bundle (no idea which anymore) so it would be a bit daft buying it again here ... Except this way I'd get the PC version rather than the Mac version. Curses.
I'm the opposite, I have the PC version from the developers, got it cheap with discount after buying Amnesia from them, but didn't have the Mac version. So I'll get from GOG and get the Mac version. I run a bit of everything (when it comes to operating systems) around here.

Matthew94: AAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW YEAHHHHHH

For anyone who liked Amnesia, you HAVE to get these games, they're fantastic. They aren't quite as scary but the location and plot is much better.

Ignore the "third" game, it's just an expansion pack with physics puzzles, no actual plot.

Hillsy_: Nice price, not a fan though. I wouldn't walk around aimlessly without any kind of makeshift weapon at hand.

Matthew94: In the first game you get weapons and if you're stealthy enough, you can become the hunter rather than the hunted. I really liked that aspect.
Thanks for the info. The strange thing is...I played The Dark Descent and the first two Penumbra games when they were released...don't remember having a weapon in any of them (0_0) Just watching the patterns of the monsters and trial and error gameplay. Maybe I'll give the first one another shot.
Razzafrazzin, and here I was all caught up on my GOG purchases. Sigh, into the shopping trolley it goes...
My 'games to play around Halloween' is starting to beef up a bit ;)
Very nice release, added to wishlist for the time being.
Penumbra collection on GOG oh yeah! :D
breddy gud, but it makes no sense it's another ONLY release of a game that requires no compability work whatsoever.

After so long "slowdown" during summer sale and that, I expected some blast.
Yeah well. Typical case of "already have them, buying them again". These games are models, of how videogames should be. At the very top of the very best of computer gaming. At least of computer gaming as I like it.

xxxIndyxxx: nice release even though it is a bit late to the party or is this already considered an old classic?

AlKim: I consider the first Penumbra an old game already. Maybe it's because it looks like shit, maybe because I was in upper secondary when the tech demo was released; seems like it was such a long time ago.

Anyway, I played Overture about a year ago and it bored me to tears, to be honest. Is Black Plague any better?
Even if you didn't like Overture, but enjoyed Amnesia, then I would still recommend giving Black Plague a go. I also found Overture a bit on the tame side, and thus wasn't in any hurry to play Black Plague. But I regret ever waiting...

They got rid of the combat, had enemies that were much scarier (in my opinion), added some very Lovecraftian story elements, and just created an all-round entertaining and immersive experience.

It still has tie-ins to the original game. So for those who did like Overture, you'll enjoy the references that FG makes.

The collection is an insta-buy for me. Almost only because of Black Plague... and somewhat because I never did try Requiem...

I personally enjoyed Black Plague a lot more than Overture. But it's the same style of gameplay (just without the killing dogs thing), so if that's what you didn't like about it then you probably won't like Black Plague either.
Awesome! I just *love* Penumbra, I like it much more than Amnesia. Haven't beaten Black Plague yet, though, so I might eventually grab the GOG copy just for that.

Edit: Ah shit, five bucks? Oh my... I don't think I can afford another game this month - but that deal is epic for the whole collection.

I just hope that I've been paid by 10 AM the day after tomorrow... less than €5 for probably the best horror games I've ever played would truly be a shame to pass on.
