In the dark, not alone.

Penumbra Collection, a set of three gripping horror games with a thick atmosphere of overwhelming terror and rich, interactive environment, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the next two days!

Cold sweat running down your back, heart racing, you feel your hands tremble as you rest them on your keyboard. This is only a game--you tell yourself--I can play it, I can get through this. But the dimmed lights, and the silence of the night, make you feel like the real world does not exist anymore. It's only you, and the dark mystery before you. You can almost smell the damp, frowzy corridor as you progress slowly towards the half-open door. The darkness behind it swirls and creeps as if it was more than just the absence of light. It's only a game, you tell yourself once more--but the fear is real. It does not come from the screen. It originates deep inside you. It was always there, and the game it's just a trigger. Deep inside you suspect that dark things do exist in this world. The most frightening thing is: you start to believe it.

Penumbra Collection features all three episodes of the sensational horror series: Overture, that began the story of lethal terror and insanity, Black Plague, which picks up the tale where the first game abruptly ends, and Requiem, providing a chilling conclusion to the series. You will face unspeakable nightmares in eerie settings that will send chills down your spine while you unravel their dark and unnerving mysteries. From the masters of gaming frights, that later developed the memorable Amnesia: The Dark Descent, comes this modern horror classic. If you're a fan of the genre, your collection simply won't be complete without it!

There's more terror in the world than we can possibly imagine. Turn, and face the darkness creeping behind your back in Penumbra Collection, for only $4.99 on GOG.com. The 50% discount offer lasts 48 hours, that's until Thursday, August 1, at 9:59AM GMT.
Very nice addition to GOG and 3 very good games.

I bet they'll sell well here, especially looking at Amnesia, which many said was "released on GOG too late', yet is now sitting at the top of the best seller pile :)

Hope the Penumbra Collection does the same thing. I'll pick it up eventually, even though I've already played them as I'd like to have a second copy on GOG.I
AAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW YEAHHHHHH

For anyone who liked Amnesia, you HAVE to get these games, they're fantastic. They aren't quite as scary but the location and plot is much better.

Ignore the "third" game, it's just an expansion pack with physics puzzles, no actual plot.

Hillsy_: Nice price, not a fan though. I wouldn't walk around aimlessly without any kind of makeshift weapon at hand.
In the first game you get weapons and if you're stealthy enough, you can become the hunter rather than the hunted. I really liked that aspect.

Considering these have been sold DRM free elsewhere for a while (and at least one of them have been in a bundle before), gog is again a little bit late to the party.

Can argue with the price point, though, as GG list base price for the collection at £17.99 (~$27?)

Yeah, of 50% off in the sale I went ahead and bought these straight off!
I'll shamelessly copy my question that I asked about Amnesia:
1) How difficult is this game?
2) How is the level designs? Is it something more like a maze where you will get lost constantly or is it rather small and uncomplicated?
3) Is there a lot of backtracking here?
4) How about quick time events?
And add two more:
5) How many fighting is in these games? From what I've seen you can actually get a weapon here (somebody mentioned the first part)
6) Is Amnesia anyhow related to this series? Should I play them first or it doesn't matter at all?
Late to the party or not I've never bought thsese games and I will be clad to do so now. Thanks GOG.

Ghorpm: 4) How about quick time events?
No QTE there.

It's the short-term bestseller pile, though. On the grand scheme of things, it's well in the bottom 100 games in terms of numbers sold.

1) Overture is a walk in the park if you're like me. There may be an annoying puzzle or two, but that's par for the course. I haven't played Black Plague or Requiem.
2) It's pretty linear. Tunnels collapse, you fall down rabbit-holes and doors get stuck when you pass through them.
3) See above.
4) None.
5) You can fight in Overture at least, but the combat mechanics are bollocks. The enemies can attack on the move and their hitboxes are tiny, whereas you are forced to stand still while clumsily waving a hammer at the vague direction of whatever you want to hit, and your hitbox spans several postal codes. Combat is largely optional, but killing enemies does make things easier if you can make the mechanics behave themselves for a goddamn minute.
6) I think there is no relation between the series.

LOL - now I don't say this often but that was a dumb comment.

It's been on the site for less than a week and has already outsold almost 40 games, some that have been on the site for months. From seeing how well it continues to sell at many many sites, I'd say it will continue to go up the best seller list here as there are hundreds of thousands of gamers who still don't own it.

The cylinders make an appearance in both the Penumbra series and Amnesia.
Wow that was fast! ...kinda. But good to see anyway they released this so close to Amnesia.
tempted to pick this up. i was late to the party as well..
Nice move, GOG :) Another good horror I already have and I bought again to have it here :)
Now: time for Machine for Pigs!
and deadly premonition :)

1) Amnesia has been available elsewhere for a year and a half, including a couple of Humble Bundles, deep Steam discounts and the developers' website (DRM-free, IIRC). People who want the game have had ample opportunity to buy it for peanuts, myself included.
2) The fact that it sells well at many many sites does not automatically mean that it will sell well at GOG. In fact it means that people who want the game likely own it already in one form of another.
3) Yeah, surely there are hundred of thousands if not millions of gamers who don't own it yet, but, as I said, they have had a fair share of opportunities to buy it from pretty much wherever they want. Perhaps they don't own it because they never wanted it in the first place?
4) I'm curious: how high up the bestseller list you think it will rise? I can't imagine it in the top 50, for instance.
I bought it a few years ago and never had a chance to play it... But I guess I will buy this one again here (together with Amnesia) because of the additional stuff - like walkthroughs and DLC (in case of Amnesia). Thanks gog for great addition to your catalog!!
