The Last of The Dreamers is you.

Omikron: The Nomad Soul, a remarkable action-adventure game full of unique gameplay ideas and featuring a groundbreakingly complex alternate reality, teeming with life and waiting for you to explore it, is available on GOG.com, for only $9.99.

A fair warning: when you play this game, your very soul will be sucked into a strange realm where the glorious city of Omikron is troubled by demonic forces. The essence of your being will be trapped in this different dimension, doomed to inhabit one body after another, until you manage to find release. You'll have to explore the mysteries of Omikron, uncover the evil plot pushing it towards ultimate darkness, and fight your way through many dangers. You're the only hope of the Omikronians, and even your own fate is at stake. Sure, you might not believe it, but let's suspend disbelief for a moment. What if it's all true?

Omikron: The Nomad Soul, came way ahead of its time, with its lush and complex virtual world, diverse gameplay mechanics, and original immersive storytelling. It succeeded in creating an illusion of stepping into another world and obliterated the barrier between the virtual reality and our own. The project was so fresh, imaginative, and ambitious that David Bowie himself was more than willing to take a prominent part in the production. You can even meet his lookalike in the game and listen to him performing!

A brave new world awaits you in Omikron: The Nomad Soul, for only $9.99 on GOG.com. Just be advised, we take no responsibility for whatever happens to you in the other reality.
FUCK YEAH, this game is from a era where 90% of my gaming knowledge came from PCGamer and PCZone magazines. Read all the reviews, previews and played all the Demo's of games between 1997 and 2000. Had no internet or means to buy most games(small town, South Africa). And now I can enjoy all the games from that era in all their glory.

The Nomad Soul and System Shock 2 was the 2 games I looked forward to the most to see on GOG. THANKS!!!

Strijkbout: I do agree in case of the none Bowie songs and ambient music, I think that could be included.
If you think people are complaining now, can you imagine the screaming fits if they included the soundtrack for a game known for David Bowie, but cut out the David Bowie? I think they made the right decision.
Maybe there's chance for non-Bowie soundtrack, but it still depend on the materials provided by the publisher. In certain cases, GOG couldn't even bundle a single extra because the publisher didn't provide them any.

What I really find something to complain about is when the music isn't even in the game itself, like in Pinball Illusions.

XYCat: too bad it doesn't come with the soundtrack

tfishell: A "partial" soundtrack would at least have been nice, as I'm guessing trying to get Bowie's music would have been tough nuts.
This game is actually a bit interesting case because the whole Bowie album Hours... actually came out as part of this game's soundtrack before it hit the stores as a regular music record. So i'm not really sure how the rights and publishing of omikron's soundtrack should be handled.

Iain: No it is proper widescreen, not stretched 4:3, looks really nice :)
avatar
kalirion: You sure its not cut off then? Easy way to check is to take a screenshot at a widescreen resolution and compare it to a screenshot of the same spot in 4:3. Often you see that in 4:3 you see more area vertically (think of the lazy way some people turn 4:3 movies into widescreen by simply cutting off the top and bottom of the picture). I almost NEVER see a game that old with proper widescreen support.
There are two ways to do "equal" widescreen and 4:3 images without stretching:
1. cropping the 4:3 image to make the widescreen one
2. cropping the widescreen one to make the 4:3 one

Neither is wrong, they're just different in which one you start with.

This is the only game Quantic Dream ever made, isn't it?

Fahrenheit?

Wikipedia says they've made five so far, of which Fahrenheit was already here on GOG.
Yes! I'll finally get to play this!

I was being cheeky bastard, implying that Fahrenheir/Heavy Rain are more movies than games :-)

Certainly compared to Omikron.

Oh.

Anyway, now I can happily delete my pirated copy without being worried I might lose access to this gem anytime soon.
What kind of game is this, exactly?

Is it like Deus Ex, where you just get to run around exploring big-ass levels?

I think it depends on how they named it in the extras. If they could find a way to say "Non-Bowie music" without actually saying that, something like "ambient music" or "partial soundtrack" or etc., I think people wouldn't be as caught off guard and wouldn't bitch as much. (Maybe)
