Is this title compensating for something?

Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude: Uncut and Uncensored!, an unruly adventure game brazenly showing its sexy 3D bits, available on GOG.com, for only $5.99.

The legendary leisure suit got passed on. Meet Larry Lovage, the young man destined to carry on the heritage of his uncle, the legendary womanizer and the God's gift to womankind--Larry Laffer. Ok, that might be a bit of an exaggeration. Larry Lovage, the hero of Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude: Uncut and Uncensored! is just as well suited to wear the leisure suit, as his uncle was a unstoppable love machine. But that won't stop him, oh no! There are still some hot chicks in the world that never heard the name Larry Lovage. It's a good thing--they won't know what's coming.

Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude: Uncut and Uncensored! takes the fan-favorite Leisure Suit Larry series for a spin in the realm of 3D. Gameplay-wise it's much different from it's predecessors, but the naughty humor is still there, no worries. Once you wrap your head around its concept and the main character who is Larry Laffer's nephew, it will offer you many enjoyable and playful mini-games.

If you wonder what happens when Lovage hits the streets, get Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude: Uncut and Uncensored! for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

SmallDickie: Eeeaaahhh its useles.. You dont get it. Enjoy Magna Cum Laude. Congratulations GOG for this game! I will end this drable here. Its pointless.
Nobody said we enjoy it or rather enjoy it as a good game.
Still, it's a piece of the series' history - dark times in that history - and if somebody wants it as a collector item, why should we stop that person?
I'm glad GOG released Ultima 8-9 and Might & Magic 9, and I gladly even bought those games.

And I agree also that the second and third Matrix movies were not up to the first one. It seemed as if the first one was made by some young guns who had a fresh vision, but by the second and especially third part, pee had already risen into their heads and they thought they are as famous as John Lennon, who in turn thought he is as famous and important as Jesus the Christ.

I actually feel the same about Terminator 2. Terminator 1 was a breath of fresh air in its time, while the sequel was a politically correct megalomaniac corporate version of the same. Quite professionally made, though (but maybe that is part of it).

The girl was 17 years old, which makes her underage but not exactly a child.
In America, pretty sure that still falls under child protection/child porn laws, as far as I know.

In other countries, in UK for example, age of consent is 16?
SmallDickie: The Leisuire Suit Larry series is made up of six games
Leisure Suit Larry's Casino (the 1998 version, not the nick pick's version) by Al Lowe is actually a pretty good Leisure Suit Larry game in its own right. But not an Adventure game. The Larry Pinball game isn't too bad (that was originally part of Take A Break Pinball but given as a bonus in the LSL collections). Laffer Utilities while not really a game, was kinda funny IIRC.

For various reasons I'd missed out on most of the LSL games in the 90s but I was more than familiar with the character and the games themselves as a Sierra and Al Lowe fan. When I played this on the PS2 I was really expecting something.. different.

I can't even call this a Leisure Suit Larry game. You're not the same Larry, Al Lowe had nothing to do with the game, and of course the PS2 version was terribly censored. The minigames were frequently frustrating or dependent on luck.

While I actually found the storyline rather interesting and did enjoy the interactions with the characters.. I just felt that this might've been better labeled as "Co-Ed Adventures" or something rather than an actual entry in the series. I heard the follow up was even worse, too.
Ah, so this is the famous reject from the school of Adventure games?
Oh man this game is bad. I remember only playing it further to see the chicks get naked, since I figured out very quickly that that was the only thing the game had going for it--but it SO wasn't worth it. All Magna Cum Laude did was fill me with immense shame. It's like a dark blotch on my video gaming history that I can't tell anyone about. Fellow males, I suggest you steer clear of this one and enjoy what little dignity you might have left.

If you want to see a real turd amongst erotic comedy adventure games, a thing that'll make you WANT to play MCL and call it a masterpiece, check this out.
Fun Fact: in this game, you can edit every background and sprite with MS Paint. Me and my friend took a little time to replace the protagonist's face with the face of our another friend to mock him :)

You are doing a mistake treating the US as one entity in that regard. The age of consent is actually 16 in most states in the US as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_North_America#State_laws.

Actually the Guy Game probably had problems with the US Federal Age of Consent Laws which is set at 18, and deals with international and across state boundaries issues.

Of course age of consent might not be the right description for the law, maybe its related specifically to federal child pornography laws? Do child pornography laws even mirror age of consent laws (which are generally based on actual sexual acts).

Of course Guy Game hit the problem that it would be illegal in some states, and possibly legal in others?
