The future is furry!

Inherit the Earth, a classic point-and-click adventure game set in the post-human times when animals take over, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99

Is there a place for humankind in Earth's future? Many would argue that the planet is ours and we will inhabit it for as long as it can nurture life. This might not be the case. In this amazing story, humans are but the stuff of legends, a thing of the past long gone. Animals are the new rulers and they starting to resemble us in many ways, taking on our merits and flaws as a species. There is much uncertainty about the fate of humans and the origins of the animals civilization, and there are many secrets to uncover. One unwilling adventurer will face all the mysteries he wouldn't even dream of as his quest to clear his good name takes him on an unexpected journey.

Inherit the Earth tells an intriguing story of mystery and magic by the means of classic point-and-click adventure gameplay. It sports excellent pixel-art graphics that makes the future world vivid and the anthropomorphic characters believable. The quest that lies before Rif of the Fox Tribe, our main protagonist, is involving and it will keep you entertained down to the last click. If you enjoy point-and-click adventures of the 1990s, make sure not to miss this original little gem.

Venture into the woodland future and witness the adventure of our furry descendants in Inherit the Earth, for only $5.99.

RS1978: Thanks for your advice, but this fixes only the size problem, but not the color scaling. I've tried the usually other options (running in 256 colors, disable desktop themes etc.), but no one works. It would be a great thing if we could get the original dos cd release from the game as an additional content.
I know of that problem and I thought we fixed it. What OS/GPU do you have?

EDIT: Nvm, I see what went wrong. You downloaded German version, right?

mitsadoor: Isn't 6$ too much for this game?
Of course it is.
Wow, I figured this one would show up sometime as a freebie.

Hoooooly mother of gaming, it's finally here! Thank you, GOG! Now all I need is Heimdall 1 + 2 and Universe and I can die happily.

Novotnus: Damn you, GOG! I know I'll buy it... and later this month I'll play Don't Starve. In real life.
I wish I could play Don't Starve in real life. I'd have five fridges filled to capacity with food, almost no spoilage, and no electric bill to worry about. Might actually be able to retain my sanity better, too.

No free rides!

Didn't you answer your own question already? ;)

Anway, it's $13 or even 11 euros on the publisher's homepage, so I guess GOG made a good deal here. Besides there aren't any price points below $6 on GOG at the moment.

Bloodygoodgames: LOL. I know the feeling.

I had $7.22 in my bank account. I now have $1.23.

Ah well, I do live in Thailand. It's amazing how much food you can buy for a dollar and packets of dried noodles are very cheap :)
Well, I live in Poland. I don't want to compare prices and taxes here with my earning, because that's the way straight into a deep depression :)
I knew I should've moved to Asia when they still wanted some English speaking Poles there :)

And a deerclops. And the devil himself stealing from you when you hunt for food :)

Yes, and I'm using Windows 7 64 Bit with a GTX 260 (a little bit outdated, I know, but for this game it should be enough).
DAMN! For a second I thought that said "Inherit the Wind". I was all excited to play the little known FPS based on the Scopes Monkey Trial. Denied again! :-(
They tried a KS for a sequel some time ago, but failed, but I guess they heared the backers about trying to get more exposure first and put the older game in sites like GOG

Leroux: Screenshot from the publishers homepage

Can anyone from GOG confirm that it's not possible to run the game in a true, fully scaled fullscreen mode without the window frame or huge black borders?

Thiev: right-click 'itewin.exe' and under compatibility tab check 'run in 640x480'
That should fix small window problem in fullscreen
I tried the demo from the publisher's homepage and I didn't notice any difference in the colors when running the game in fullscreen, but when I check 'run in 640x480' under the compatibility tab, the aspect ratio is not quite right, the image is stretched a little to fit the screen (when in other games, I'd automatically get the preferable small black borders on the sides in order for the game to display the correct ratio). But what's even worse, while the image fills the whole screen, the mouse cursor still has access to a restricted and smaller area only, meaning e.g. I can't point the cursor to the leftmost end of the screen if I want to leave or pick up items in that range. Has that been fixed in the GOG version or can I expect the same issues I have with the demo there?

No problems with the cursor here. Can move it in any direction. There are small borders on both sides too, so I assume the aspect ratio may be correct.

There is a new version (2.0.0.7) on server which should have color issue fixed. Or, if you prefer, I can tell you how to fix your game, but it involves editing windows registry ;-)

Please re-download the game. I apologise for that slight trouble.

hunvagy: Well they also made this: http://www.mobygames.com/game/halls-of-the-dead-faery-tale-adventure-ii

Now this I'd love to see here.
But wasn't that game unfinished?

I'd love to see it too, but just because I loved the original Faery Tale Adventure on Amiga. No matter that 95% of the game world was empty in that case, but it was still a very charming game, and very exciting to find in the middle of night some isolated hut or dungeon at the end of a road...

Somehow the original Faery Tale Adventure always reminds me a bit of Ultima 7, even though the latter is certainly a more advanced and a better game, and quite different game overall.
