Board the groove train to transcendence!

Dyad, a psychedelic arcade abstract shooter that aims to mesmerizing the player, with its rhythmic pulse and vibrant colors, quite possibly to the point of inducing some transcendental experiences*, is available on 10% off on GOG.com. That's only $13.49 for the first week.

The purple grass was warm and fuzzy. A tingling sensation moved up from my bare feet to the top of my head, and did not stop there, going ever higher towards the lime-green shiny sky. It felt as if my consciousness stretched itself way beyond my body, reaching for some distant central point of the universe, connecting it with the planet core, way beyond the Earth's surface. I was no longer a point in space. I was a string, and I was vibrating to the sound of the Cosmos in perfect harmony with all the other strings, going through every object around me. The space, the time, and the I--absolute unity. So, I played Dyad yesterday. What's your plan for the evening?

Dyad, an abstract tunnel shooter game with eye-candy graphics and intriguing interactive music, isn't the most challenging game. It sort of just flows, allowing you to experience its hypnotic beauty and immerse yourself in a peculiar state of relaxed alertness. Its 27 different levels, three game-modes, and collectible trophies provide you with many additional challenges, but mostly, this is a perfect game to take the edge off after a long day and forget about the world. Also, it's really groovy, and you just need to check it out, dude!

Move over, Lucy! There's a new Diamond in the Sky, and it's called Dyad. It's high time you got it on GOG.com, for only $13.49. The offer lasts until Wednesday, May 1, at 12:59PM GMT.

Nice to see Dyad here. Good job.
The guy who made this game must've puffed the magic dragon :P

I played like 8 first levels last night. I wouldn't call it a shooter and neither a racer, but it's a definitely an arcade game. And, to me, getting the trophies for some of the levels is a challenge indeed.
Overall I like it, though it's not anything that spectacular. Music seemed very simple at first but soon I realized it was very important part of the whole experience or even the gameplay (at some levels). I hope for much more fun and some interesting levels further ahead.
Lastly, the remix mode is something very cool and relaxing :)
Looks pretty cool. Thanks for another unique release GoG.
Question for those who've played this: do you find it's actually any good for getting into a 'trance' state? That's the main reason I play this kind of thing, but some of them require a little too much attention to the 'gameplay' to properly zone out.

(On a side note, anyone else remember 'Tranquility'? I miss that game...)

I found it quite enjoyable. You have to pay some attention, but once it burns itself into your subconscious you can zone out nicely.

EDIT: HEY GOG.COM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tranquility_(video_game) THIS GAME WAS AWESOME AND DESERVES SAVING

I am not sure what you mean by "trance" state ^^ But i think the "remix" mode is what you want here.
Once you unlock a certain level (which is really easy compared to getting the trophies) you can use a "remix" mode on a given level. That allows you to customize some audiovisual settings and play current track without any restrictions or "things to do". Also for many (if not all) of them you can turn in an "infinite" mode so the flow never ends. I am certain that you would appreciate that ^^
It's certainly weird and fancy experience but I have no idea if it is enough to "properly zone out" ;)

Anyway, you may also try to look at other games:
(a) Memory of a Broken Dimension
(b) Nowhere
Also if you try them out, please send your opinion, I am kind of interested in them :)

If you want the same game, only for free and with amiga-mod music, then Tsunami 2010 is for you: http://www.ainc.de/Games.htm

That's... not really the same game? It's inspired by the same Llama-obsessed source, but being in the same genre doesn't make two games the same.

Admittedly I'm using the words loosely, but the options you describe make it sound like they're at least trying to cater to someone like me, so I'll check this one out. Thank you!

That would be great. Sadly, I'm not sure there's much they can do now with the servers shut down. :(

So when I first saw this game released I just thought it reminded me of something. The presentation on "This Week on GOG episode 24" was superb. To be honest I am left wondering if there is a way to confirm if it was the Enigmatic T who did the voice-over skunked out voice during the "This Week Promo" segment?

Anyways, my comments are geared to Good Old Gamers out there. If you did happen to see the promo or a trailer of the game I am quite sure you were able to pick out exactly what I did myself. This notion of "I remember this game". Granted, I will be honest, I did not remember the name of the game, I had to google for the name. I just knew, I knew of this game that used to gobble my quarters but I really could not remember the name.

So how did I find the name? Yeah, this was my Google search term "video game 80s vectors" and yeah, I so did luck out. Tempest was right there. I tried some other iterations and I would have wound up with Battlezone most likely. :)

I am only posting this comment because I do wonder how many other Good Old Gamers out there are wondering, if maybe, just maybe, some game long ago, reminds them of this.

Too bad the publisher didn't think of making a Tempest 2 with this game.

BTW, this is a video of what we Good Old Gamers used to remember. It is from an actual arcade game cabinet play.

Yeah, this is what was awesome, way back when, and yeah we used to put in quarters in the cabinet to play it : D

Not sure how I missed this game till now, is my cup of tea. Anyway a heads up for others as I always check before I buy now, this will be getting a Linux release soon so you may wan to look at a direct purchase from the developer to get all platform versions.
