With traditional animation techniques and full 1080p resolution, this might be one of the most enchanting games ever to grace your screen. Let the adventure begin, get Dust: An Elysian Tail, for only $7.49 on GOG.com. The 50% off release discount offer lasts until Thursday, November 14, at 10:59AM GMT.
Wow, that 2D is gorgeous.

rampancy: It's not available in Korean? Odd, as there's Hangeul on the main title card...
That was my exact thought when I first opened the game card.

tinyE: How is it on specs? No rush to answer as I can't afford it right now so anytime before Christmas would be fine. :D
I can't run it, so I think it would be safe to assume you can't either. :P

I think this is the 3rd game in the last two weeks where I posted that I was interested but requirements were too high. I guess I should start getting use to it.

Noogy: Hey all, Dean Dodrill here (the developer of Dust:AET).

I'm thrilled to finally have the game available on GOG :) I'm a huge fan of the service, and a GOG release has always been the number one request from PC users since it was available on the platform. I hope you enjoy the game!
Very cool. I was already set on purchasing the game here as soon as I saw the announcement, but reading your post made me feel even better about it. :)

I have one question though: Where do you set the game language? I couldn't find a language option in the settings, the game just automatically chose my system language. I'd rather have the game completely in English though; is there an easy way to achieve that?

The game chooses language based on your OS setting. Right now there's really no elegant way to set it to English, but a temporary solution is to rename/delete whatever language folders you are using (for example, de, es, fr, etc). Adding a manual option is something I'm looking into for the future.
Well I guess I should have read the whole thing.

Wasn't there a really old whacked-out CD game in the 90s called Dust: Tales of the West or something like that? I really thought this was that game. I don't think this game has anything to do with that, unless it's from the same people or something. Anyone remember what that game was?

I have no idea what kind of voodoo you used on Microsoft, but from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you, so much, for making this phenomenal game, and thank you for bringing it to us, here, DRM free.

ErekoseDM: glad i waited to get it on GOG for this one ^_^

jamyskis: I'm pissed that I didn't wait. I saw that Microsoft had published this one on Steam and thought there was no chance in hell of this being released DRM-free, so I picked it up in a Steam sale. Will no doubt get this again at some point, although I bet it'll be in a bundle soon anyway.

But yeah, I feel like a fucking idiot now. The one time I decide to buy something from Steam and it proves to be a wrong decision.
Yup, same thing here. I was hoping that it would come here, but with Microsoft as the publisher, well... I broke down and got it a couple weeks ago on sale at Steam. Dust will have to wait for later (I will get it here).

That said, I highly recommend it. It's definitely one of the best games I've bought this year.

gandalf.nho: Looks very nice, someone already played? It's much difficult?
I haven't beat the game, and I'm hardly a beat-em-up expert, but so far I'm finding the normal difficulty to be a bit too easy. I died once (not counting a certain side quest), not because it was hard, but because I simply wasn't paying attention to my health.

Of course, I'm also keeping my two damage stats as high as I can and only upping health and defense as needed to top up the others, so... the sheer damage that I output right now relative to the enemy levels might be why it seems too easy and it might get harder later when I get to the max for those and the enemy levels catch up.

Tough mode will punish you for every mistake you make, a single hit from an enemy does a lot of damage, and you get almost no healing from save points. Hardcore mode lives up to its name and will curb stomp you if you don't play flawlessly, there are no invincibility frames when hit and you get no save point healing at all.

This is a very fun game. I only wish I knew a PC port was in development before I bought it on XBLA last winter...
Not long ago I bought this on Steam... :(

Anyway, the game is really good, totally recommended for people with good memories playing Valkyria Profile... ;)

Thanks for the quick reply and for providing a workaround! Games choosing languages based on my OS setting is one of my pet peeves, unfortunately, as more often than not I prefer to play the original version and would like to make the language choice myself, and especially in cases, when the games are not fully translated and end up mixing two languages (e.g. one for speech and one for text). So it's good to hear that you're working on a more comfortable solution! :)
Great to see that here.
Instabought and have been loving this. Hoping we see more from this developer in the future?

Yes, it was called Dust: A Tale of the Wired West, and it was an awesome western themed p&c adventure game. It was made by the people that did Titanic: Adventure out of Time and Redjack, I think both were a bit more well know than Dust. They went out of business years ago, so no, despite the similar sounding title this release is completely unrelated.

Watched some gameplay vídeos and it looks very nice. Just wondering how it works with a keyboard and mouse.
