RAWR I'M A DRAGON AND I TELL DRAGON STORIES

Dragon Lore: The Legend Begins, a classic point and click adventure with a dash of action, is now available for just $5.99.
Did you hear that sound? It sounded like a human. I'm a fan of humans, overall, because they're delightfully crunchy with a scream-filled center. And sometimes those humans are worthy of actually being a partner, a Dragon Knight to follow in battle and rage against the evil that infects the land.

Mostly, though, it's that awesome crunch when you bite into them that I love.

Things have apparently gone to pot since my human was betrayed and killed and I got banished. I hear that there's orcs running around and slaughtering peasants. Slaughtering peasants is pretty dumb. It's not much fun if they don't crunch when you bite into them. I suppose that slaughtering peasants is better than nothing, though, which is what I've been doing. I'm bored, but as I wait in my cave, hearing what seems to be a human, at least I have two things to look forward to. Either he's worthy of being a Dragon Knight, a scion of a bloodline that means he will rise to the challenge and help save the lands above and someone who will help lead me to restoring justice and resuming my place as one of the mighty and benevolent protectors of the Father's dream made reality--or else he's just some dopey guy with a sword and hopefully enough armor to make a proper crunch when you bite.

So which is it? Which are you? Are you worthy to lead something as mighty and powerful as a Dragon?

Or do you just go crunch?

Hengst2404: Ah yes, this marks another GOG entry of a game I bought but was never able to get to run on my PC. There have been a few on GOG that I never could get to run, for instance Strike Force. I have always remembered this one though, so I must have it!!

Anybody remember the days where buying a game and getting it to work were not always a hand in hand proposition? Remember writing config.sys and autoexec.bat files and boot disks. Good times :)
That's why you quite fast learned how to poke the DOS shell to have an autoexec and a config with built in options to optimize your boot. I remember at one point I managed to make 620 Kbyte free base memory, with XMS and EMS, mouse and soundcard drivers xD
this is what people get for asking for old games....

Where were you when I was growing up??? I never got to that point I was look to get 520 at times. I need to learn how to do that today just for my own personal edification!

LoadHigh and LH are your friends. Stuff everything in the upper memory, no cluttering of the conventional memory :) Technically you can still do that in dosbox for fun's sake, but it won't have an effect.

Different mouse, cd and sound drivers. I did have the luck to have a sound blaster compatible card that didn't require drivers (or had very lightweight ones).
I had never heard of this until today but it looks a lot like Lost Eden, which is no surprise as it's be the same team. I'll give it a try and also hope Lost Eden isn't far behind. I'd say this should be a great game if Lost Eden is any indication.

Yes, this is the only reason I remember this game, I could never get it to work on DOS.

Not sure, I'll buy it anyway though, that kind of graphics hurt my eyes these days and it's not really my cup of tea anyway.

Yep. I remember setting up a boot menu to select the config that DOS loaded. One of the games I had to make a separate config for was SimCity 2000.

In my opinion, Dragon Lore is far better than Lost Eden. Lost Eden is great but it is very short and repetitive.

Dragon Lore was highly underrated at its release. It is a fabulous game with a good plot, a great soundtrack, beautiful environments, colourful characters...

You have to decide which way to behave to please a majority of Dragon Knights. If you are violent, dark knights will support you. If you are nice, others will. This concept is very interesting.
Wow, that intro sequence looks great! :D I remember drooling over the box on this one at Babbages back in the day. Unfortunately I didn't have one of those fancy CD-DROM drives yet so I missed out.

I'm seriously tempted to get this.

Yeah once you got to later parts of Lost Eden it did get kind of repetitive. Still a great, atmospheric game. If this is better than I'm sure I'll love it. Cryo may have made some mediocre games but they also made so many really unique, memorable titles too.
AHHH!

This is one of the first games I played as a kid with my dad. I still have the strategy guide. I think I read the strategy guide more than I played the game (it had a written story of the game instead of just a point A to point B guide). Instabuy.
I vaguely remember seeing this game on store shelves, I think. Looks pretty cool, and always happy to see more classic adventures.

Dragon Lore is one of these memorable games ;) You should give it a try.

It looks like a RPG but it remains a fantastic adventure in an immersive world. I usually do not like RPGs and I loved Dragon Lore.

As for its sequel Dragon Lore 2, I found it rather bad.

Yeah I'm going to pick this up, thanks for the advice.
