If there's a thing more fearsome than a dragon, it's a dragon with a jetpack!

Divinity: Dragon Commander, multi-layered real-time strategy game with a fantastic setting, epic scale, amazing gameplay depth, and many original ideas, is available on GOG.com, for $39.99. You can also get the extensive Divinity: Dragon Commander Imperial Edition for a little more, that is $44.99.

What is Divinity: Dragon Commander? Let us put an image in your head. A giant army rushes into battle. First, the scouts, agile and fast, with their bows always ready. Then the cavalry, blazing on their relentless mounts. Then, the heavy infantry--warriors of all the shapes, sizes, and races with their plate armors sounding with every step like the bells of doom. Right behind them, the battle beasts--horrors bred with one purpose only: destruction. Some of them pulling the ballistas, trebuchets, and other siege machines. Above them, a variety of zeppelins and flying machines ready to spread death from above. And then, suddenly, a great shadow falling over the battlefield. A gigantic winged dragon swooping down at lightning speed, propelled by a jetpack, breathing fire and roaring fiercely. An image sure to strike fear in the hearts of the enemies. You, however, have nothing to fear. This is your army, and you are the Dragon, its commander and Emperor. Can you see it now? Can you grasp the scale of the game? Maybe it's better that you saw it with your own eyes.

Divinity: Dragon Commander realease trailer

Divinity: Dragon Commander allows the player to experience war from many unique perspectives, thus breathing new life to real-time strategy genre. The idea to put the gamer in the role of a Dragon commanding its people (and elves, and dwarves, and undead, and--well, creatures) into battle and even taking part in the combat directly is original enough to make the game phenomenally involving. The people who gave you the acclaimed Divinity RPG series decided however, to add a couple more layers to the gameplay. In the game, you'll get to make diplomatic decisions, manage your empire in an epic world-map mode, and even utilize elements of trading card game mechanics. All that and more, coupled with excellent visuals, peculiar humor, and many available scenarios (single-player and multi-player alike), gives the game a potential to become the next big step in the evolution of RTS genre.

Sink your claws into the biggest chunk of full-blooded fantasy real-time strategy out there, with Divinity: Dragon Commander, for only $39.99 on GOG.com! Please note, that if you decide to upgrade your game to the Imperial Edition, you can do so by acquiring the Imperial Edition Upgrade DLC for only $9.99. You can also start with Divinity: Dragon Commander Imperial Edition for $44.99, and if you were one of the pre-ordering customers, you already have it.

L0stOldGamer: I wonder if GOG will sort it out and update the KS:D.OS users from the standard to the Imperial. They have to know what codes came from where and should have no problem figuring it out.
As G-doc stated here, we are working on getting this properly sorted out.

TheEnigmaticT: Incidentally, I just got off the phone with Larian and they said that they will be issuing all KS backers a fix for updating Dragon Commander Standard edition to the Imperial Edition. It will purportedly be in place within the hour.
Is there a chance that KS backers get the Imperial Edition Upgrade on GOG? I really like to get the complete version in my GOG collection and not half of the game on GOG and half of the game on LarianVault (the upgrade).

Thank you!

I can't hold off any longer. I need to play this game! Redeeming now! Will look for the sorting out in the near future.

Nice to know, even with the fix by Larian I prefer to have all the game content in the same place. Will playing until you guys can get the DLC for us too

MichiGen: I think that maybe it depends on when you've redeemed your code. I did very early this morning before I went to work, and it unlocked the Imperial Edition.
i agree, i reedemed earlier too ; and got the imperial edition ...

about the text & audio : my guess others language will be added sooner or later , but still ..... :/
I would much rather have the complete DC content on GOG as well, as I prefer my collection here over steam/Larian vault or whatever.

VanishedOne: Nice to know; I haven't heard back from Larian yet. I wonder whether I should bother waiting.

G-Doc: Not to worry, this will be sorted out. We're investigating the reasons for the mix-up with the codes, and we'll offer a solution to all KS backers.
I have a thing in Larian Vault to download the Imperial Edition from them. Hopefully it will roll over to GOG at some point.

WBGhiro: Actually the theme of sexism comes up very early in the game when two female generals join your ranks, and one of them isn't all that pleased about how things are run in your ship. From what I've played so far Larian have managed to make these themes both entertaining and actually giving you many points of view for every issue and maybe even some new insights for you.

I haven't gotten to the point where princesses come into question, but i'm actually fairly confident Larian good enough writing to back up even such chlichéd token characters.
On top of the expected rant from one of those generals, some of the princesses make cynical (and humorous) comments about being put on display.
While it's nice to see this show up here on release, I don't trust Larian to be capable of putting out a relatively bug-free game on release, so I'll be waiting to hear about other people's experiences first, and likely waiting for several patches to be released. The day-1 DLC also rubs me the wrong way, so I'll also likely be waiting to get the various versions of the game all sorted out.

Finally out. Best of luck Larian.
Will there be a dedicated GOG multiplay server? I looked online earlier today and I couldn't seem to find any multiplayer groups.
waiting for reviews to roll in. I might get this when it's a bit cheaper. The graphics is gorgeous and art style is beautiful, and I have been itching to play a good rts since forever.

This might really not be a game for you, then, I think. The RTS part is not the main focus of the game in my opinion. The game is actually sort of like Dawn of War (and probably many others), where you have a strategic map on which you do moves in turn-based manner. Then, at the end of the turn, if you have units in the same place as the enemy, you can play an RTS battle for that territory. But you can also completely forgo the RTS part if you want to, and let the AI handle that.

The main focus really is reasearching new types units and upgrades to keep up with the arms race, managing your strategic map territory, and the political juggling and story. The RTS part doesn't definitely feel as polished as a dedicated RTS, although I've only played a few battles.

This is for single-player. Multiplayer apparently does away with the politics and the story, but retains the research. I cannot help but feel that you'd miss out on a lot if you played multiplayer, though, as the storytelling seems a lot more involved than watching a cutscene in Red Alert.
Anyone who backed the Original Sin Kickstarter and claimed his or her copy of Divinity: Dragon Commander on GOG and *didn't* get the Imperial Edition code issued, please contact Support and we will give you a free code for the DLC. In the subject of your ticket, please put, "Imperial Edition Upgrade for Kickstarter Backer".

Sorry that took so long.

As a further note: anyone who does not have Dragon Commander in the language that he or she expected upon purchase, please sit tight. Larian is building us the foreign language versions as fast as they can, and once we have a given language, we will upload it to our CDN at super lightning speeds*.

*due to recent OSHA legislation, our server gnomes are now no longer legally allowed to use actual lightning during uploads, but they will go as fast as they can.
