timppu: I was thinking about the same, still to be downloaded and installed. If it plays fine with keyboard + mouse, fine, I won't care of any gamepad controller problems (if any).
Played pretty decently with mouse + keyboard. The only problem I had with it is that I had to use WSAD instead of arrows, but maybe I'm just dumb and haven't find the way to change it :)

Incompetence or laziness (or both), take your pick.
I'm not in into software development, can you explain?

By the way this thing to release a bad port, because there's the community to polish it is simply terrible.
Again, those developers ported this game on PC only to grab some money. The price is high too, I mean, the Director's Cut on PS3 is 20€. Yes, there aren't DLC at all, but they are so useless...

And:

If you own a PS3, think about it, expecially if you can use the PSN Plus special discount.

Afaik it means it's using some ancient Windows 2000 joystick function to map the controls.

F1ach: Thanks for the heads up, the steam page says Partial Controller support, whatever that means :)
"Partial controller support" means that you will at some point need to use mouse and/or keyboard, even if it's just manually activating the controller on the options screen or confirming the installation of some third party software via mouse/keyboard. I guess this definition was created for people who want to turn their PC into a console via the Big Picture Mode, without the necessity to ever use any other input device than a gamepad.

VanishedOne: Well, now that Rising Star Games are a GOG publisher, maybe we'll see Angel Cat Sugar...

Kunovski: wow, that looks... really dull :D but anything is better than 10475th horror game

it seems to me that the developers are unable to provide any other emotion with their games but fear - inducing fear is the easiest way to make the player affected emotionally

are you unable to provide a heart-warming story? or make somebody laugh? just scare them, that always works :( (but that's just me probably)

EDIT: I'm not saying these games are not good or lack in stories or whatever, I didn't play them (I'm a scaredy cat), but the fact that we have a horror appearing here almost every week makes me think :) but I guess this "trend" won't last long, even now I hear many people that for example games like Amnesia aren't scary enough, so when majority of people will get callous to fear the devs will have to think of a new way to introduce emotion
Have you "played" Dear Esther (Remake)?
I say "played" because people can't agree if it's a game, interactive novel, work of art or something else. Either way it have this overwhelming feeling of that something is going to happen, dread almost but it also invoke a whole range of other feelings.
So it is possible to create other strong feelings except horror and even mix them. I guess it's just harder as you mention.
I don't think I follow. My impression is that PS3 is the version inferior to other releases, being extremely buggy, with low FPS and a lack of bonuses. All this $1.50 cheaper than complete version for PC with upcoming HD fan fix if you're PS+ member.
Considering information given in various threads, I'd say PS3 version is something a potential buyer should avoid if possible.

From http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-10-29-deadly-premonition-the-directors-cut-is-locked-at-720p-on-pc :

"Deadly Premonition creator Hidetaka "Swery65" Suehiro has publicly apologised for the PC port of the game.

In a tweet the Japanese designer said he was "embarrassed" by the situation, which has seen gamers complain about Deadly Premonition on PC's locked 720p resolution."

It will be interesting to see what happens in future patches (which they'll do if they're smart). This feels a lot like the release of "Aliens: Colonial Marines." It's never a good idea to apologize for a port that hasn't even been released yet.

EDIT: Apologies; I've read on several sites that the release date for the PC port is October 31, but apparently that's incorrect.

I did actually play it (yes, play without quotations :) and it was great... there are other great examples of course that things can be done in a different way, but the avalanche of horror games recently is just crazy (well, I'd say stupid, but I'm not a fan of the genre so other people might consider this a blessing :D

Yeah I also think it's great. :)
I'm not a fan of horror games neither but I see it as it's just a game trend and hope that this trend will result in a horror game that interest me and that I'll enjoy playing.

Since it seems that almost all of the horror games are done by small or indie developers games in genres I enjoy are still being made so I can't say I mind this horror games trend.
Horror games is a neglected genre so if this trend result in some new AAA horror games I'm in fact curious about how they'll turn out.

that's a very nice and positive look at things, thanks :)
Installed the game on my (non-gaming) Laptop - it runs absolutely playable...could maybe run a little better, but -like I said- it's no gaming Laptop, so - after reading so many complaints - I am surprised, it runs at all. ;o)

And on my gaming PC, it should definitely run like a charm.
I don't care about lack of graphic option and resolution, but proper gamepad support is a must.

Ah, OK thanks for the clarification :)
A few great releases lately. Shadow Warrior, Outlast, now Deadly Premonition DC. More of that, please.
