Note: Following some discussions with Iceberg Interactive, we have been asked to remove Dark Matter from sale while the developer addresses the fact that the game's ending has some problems. The game will remain available for download for anyone who has already bought it. The developers have stated that they are working on a patch as a solution to this, and as we mentioned yesterday, anyone who wants a refund on their copy of their game is free to contact Support and we'll take care of you. Our apologies about this, and we hope that this helps address the problem. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment below.

Dark Matter, a Sci-Fi thriller that challenges you to explore the dark corridors of a defunct spacecraft where light is as scarce as the resources you need to survive.

What is Dark Matter? Imagine you're stranded in a giant defunct space exploration vessel, and you are not alone on board. There's an ominous alien parasitic presence lurking at every corner, hiding away in the air-shafts, creeping through the conduits. This is a metroidvania-type title set in deep space, where no one can hear you scream, curse at your enemies, or call for mummy when you're lost in the vast labyrinth of dark corridors. In this non-linear survival and exploration action game you'll be challenged to make it through 14 danger-filled areas designed in the spirit of the darkest gritty hard S-F. With four upgradable guns, crafting mechanics, resource management, dynamic lightning that genuinely affects gameplay, and a reactive soundtrack, this gripping game is sure to stop your heart a few times as you play.

Silverhawk170485: I read that they now want to make a video sequence at the ending of the game which should be a bit more satisfying.
Well, word is that they've quietly hired some PR flacks to play defense on the steam message boards, so it sounds like they're pretty serious about re-releasing this in the near future. I guess they're expecting a fairly negative reception to whatever they're throwing together. (If they're smart, they'll put whatever they cook up on a 5 dollar discount ASAP.)

Still, speaking as someone who played the original release, It'll be interesting to see how they try to salvage things. This whole thing has been a fascinating object lesson in how *not* to release an indie game. We're definitely taking notes here at the office, and can't wait to see how the whole thing plays out.

Didn't surprise me... After the game was pulled from stores there were a few users that mysteriously showed up saying how awesome the game is and how wrong it was pulled and how people just like to whine etc...

Incidentally they just released the update with the 'new ending' and it seems they missed the point of the complaints... What a surprise.

I was about to say, 'Tell us more, don't leave us in suspense...'

Then I realised the irony.
The thing that just kills me about this is the publisher, in announcing their new ending, is now blaming their QA team for... not noticing that their game just sort of abruptly quits midway in. (Whatever's left of Interwave didn't notice either?)

Either Iceberg has what might well be the worst QA team in industry history (and that's saying something)...
Or they've been lying their asses off from day one about this game.

Either way, I think I'm going to steer clear of Iceberg titles in the future. This... is just sketchy at best.

The new ending looks nice enough for a rush job (On par with the intro, for the most part), but, doesn't really fit that well with the game you actually play. Watching it, It feels like you somehow managed to skip an hour or two of gameplay to get to where their new cinematic takes off.

And knowing these guys, it probably still randomly cuts to this ending in the middle of a quest to boot.

Oh, well. I guess it now technically is a complete game. In the same way that it technically has all the other stuff on the game card.

Heh...

Here's the YouTube link...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R8X9ccMu9A

Same door in the middle of the mission... Same initial glimpse of a background that could be a cutscene or the next area... New video (via panning across a few static images rather than an actual video) with cheesy voiceover...
LOL to that "ending".
I liked the "non-ending" text better.
The game's story will always be in my mind as an unfinished gem.

So... The curse of Omerta Keane 2 strikes again... -__-
Is the game fixed now?
if you mean by fixed the ending, then yes the ending has been expanded.

Will this game ever be re-released on GOG?
