A whole battle world, not just an isle!

Battle Worlds: Kronos, a deep turn-based strategy game with very modern looks paired with old-school mechanics and hex-based presentation, is available 20% off on GOG.com. That's $23.99 for the first week.

Over the course of human history, someone said that war never changes. That is untrue as war does change over time. It evolves slowly, with a sudden evolutionary jump sparked by technological advancement every now and then. What truly never changes, is human nature. From the moment one of our primate ancestors took a heavy stick to another primate's head, we have been a race of warriors. Or maybe, it began even sooner? So deep is our expertise in violence, so enthralling is the desire for power, that it seems to work at cellular level. No wonder, then, that we took war with us when we set off for the stars. Now, as the Emperor lies dead, the greatest succession war in the history of mankind begins.

If you're an old-time military strategy gamer, Battle Worlds: Kronos will bring back many of your fondest memories. The playfield alone, divided into countless orderly hexes, looks irresistibly familiar. Time-proven turn based mechanics allow for careful planning and provide room for the cleverest of stratagems. Two single-player campaigns provide up to 30 hours of challenge and satisfaction, further extended by special maps and--of course--multiplayer modes, including the oldie-but-goodie hot-seat option. Pair that with visuals absolutely perfect for a mid-range sci-fi strategy game, and what you get is a title no armchair general could possibly resist.

Bring order to the chaotic and dark times of the succession wars and lead humanity to victory--well, a part of humanity at least--in Battle Worlds: Kronos, for only $23.99 on GOG.com. The special release discount offer lasts until Tuesday, November 12, at 10:59AM GMT.
and another one added to my account - good job GOG, I admire you :)
Just played the first mission and it's a really cool game.

Buuuut, I have a couple of questions. The game advertises a challenging AI, but there is no option to play a skirmish versus that AI on the multiplayer maps. All I can see are three challenge maps.

Are there any plans for something like a skirmish mode or a multiplayer vs AI?

On the steam forums they seem to mention that is it planned. It is the only thing holding me back from buying it right now. I want to be able to play skirmish vs AI.

gooberking: Looks like there is a Linux version. Putting me in the all to familiar position of do I support DRM free or linux.? Or it would if I hadn't been over spending. Guess I can defer my wrestling moralities for a while

JTheysen: You could buy the game on our site (www.battle-worlds.com). Then it's Linux AND DRM free ;-)
Unfortunately it wouldn't be in my nice GOG games shelf then :( but I will entertain that as an option. BTW Thanks for giving us that option when so many others wont.

BreOl72: Aaand...redeemed!

And I really appreciate the Soundtrack as a bonus / compensation for the day, we had to wait longer than the Steam users.
The day? The one day? I still cannot redeem my verison on GOG because there is no choice for me on the secure.kingart homepage (only for King Art / Steam). Hm, if you got your game already I wonder if this will be fixed tomorrow.
And I want my weapon’s manual.
Apparently this game is supposed to be like Advance Wars. Can someone please tell me how true this is? Because goddammit it's been far too long since the last one was released - I would buy a 3DS in a heartbeat if they ever got around to releasing a new one.
There seems to be a Linux version available, at least there are Linux system requirements listed on steam.

Does the GOG version also run on Linux? I don't care about a nice installer, but binaries should be included somewhere ;)

GOG recently took the official position that it will not be supporting Linux in any way anytime soon.
This looks like my kind of game, turn-based strategy with hexagons. I love Panzer General and Advance Wars.

Not sure if my video card would be enough though based on the Mac requirements. Not sure how the GeForce 8600M GT compares to the Intel HD 4000. Searching the internet came up with some mixed results.

I would also need to upgrade the OS but I've been thinking of doing that anyway.

Roman5: Will everyone who backed this please stand up?

Glad to see this here

Backed and looking forward to playing it as soon as I can claim my GoG key.
Reviews forthcoming after that (warning I may make advanced wars and/or Panzer General comparisons ;) )

I'm in the same boat, been logging out and back in for most of today hoping for the GoG option to appear.
I want to play Battle Worlds! :)
