A whole battle world, not just an isle!

Battle Worlds: Kronos, a deep turn-based strategy game with very modern looks paired with old-school mechanics and hex-based presentation, is available 20% off on GOG.com. That's $23.99 for the first week.

Over the course of human history, someone said that war never changes. That is untrue as war does change over time. It evolves slowly, with a sudden evolutionary jump sparked by technological advancement every now and then. What truly never changes, is human nature. From the moment one of our primate ancestors took a heavy stick to another primate's head, we have been a race of warriors. Or maybe, it began even sooner? So deep is our expertise in violence, so enthralling is the desire for power, that it seems to work at cellular level. No wonder, then, that we took war with us when we set off for the stars. Now, as the Emperor lies dead, the greatest succession war in the history of mankind begins.

If you're an old-time military strategy gamer, Battle Worlds: Kronos will bring back many of your fondest memories. The playfield alone, divided into countless orderly hexes, looks irresistibly familiar. Time-proven turn based mechanics allow for careful planning and provide room for the cleverest of stratagems. Two single-player campaigns provide up to 30 hours of challenge and satisfaction, further extended by special maps and--of course--multiplayer modes, including the oldie-but-goodie hot-seat option. Pair that with visuals absolutely perfect for a mid-range sci-fi strategy game, and what you get is a title no armchair general could possibly resist.

Bring order to the chaotic and dark times of the succession wars and lead humanity to victory--well, a part of humanity at least--in Battle Worlds: Kronos, for only $23.99 on GOG.com. The special release discount offer lasts until Tuesday, November 12, at 10:59AM GMT.

gooberking: Looks like there is a Linux version. Putting me in the all to familiar position of do I support DRM free or linux.? Or it would if I hadn't been over spending. Guess I can defer my wrestling moralities for a while
You could buy the game on our site (www.battle-worlds.com). Then it's Linux AND DRM free ;-)

That does raise the interesting question if it's actually possible for a blue to get low-rated in a forum thread. >.>

It is. You had been low-rated once before as I recall (unpaid interns comment).
Let me see if I can dig that post up.

Edit: found it.

I had no idea I'm so controversial.

EDIT: And, interestingly enough, Video Intern is still at GOG.com--and is paid, no less. :P

EDIT: One of the devs ninja'd me, so please read their response, not mine! :P
You could always buy direct from the developer: http://battle-worlds.com/support-us/

I don't know if that's a DRM-free download, though - you'd have to ask the devs themselves.

RadonGOG: King Art promised that they´ll release every of their ever upcoming games DRM-free if BattleWorlds: Kronos sells well!
I don't get this. It's not like a DRM version wouldn't be cracked and copied. Now all it says is "If not enough other people than you buy it, then we reward you with draconian DRM next game, thanks for buying!"
Is this missing something from the Steam release? I'm just curious since it's cheaper here.

The manuals are not the Deluxe Edition 40 and 80 page ones. Hope that helps :)

edited for clarity. Sorry for the mix up, everyone.

Narakir: It looks absolutely sweet and gorgeous, does it play like a wargame like battleisle ?
My first thought on seeing the art, before I even saw the screenshots, was "was this a Battle Isle game I never knew about"

Well, of course DRM helps nothing, but Publishers told their developers the opposite for ~20 Years!
It´s a hard step for a developer to realize that you´ve been wrong for a long time if you really BELIEVED in DRM before!
If you read this interview (only in german, but this shouldn´t be a problem for you ;) ) I´m sure why they chose this reward!
Anyways, we get a very well recieved DRM-free-game for little money, so investing can´t be wrong!

Actually the 40 and 80 page manuals are only for the Digital Deluxe version on Steam which has a regular price of $39.99.
