Wake up to a dream.

Anodyne, a retrotastic adventure game with nostalgic 16-bit era action-RPG feel and a deep story that takes you deep into human subconsciousness, and comes bundled with a 70-minute MP3 soundtrack, is available 25% off. That's only $7.49 for the game's first week on GOG.com!

The human subconsciousness is an uncharted land and there is very little the scientists can do to explore it. But what if a man could access his own subconscious mind as if visiting it in corporeal form? What if you could roam the grassy fields of your childhood memories? Climb the rocky cliffs of your traumas? Stare into the calm, dark waters that hide the things you chose to forget or watch as the fire of your desire burns ever so brightly. Finally then--battle your unrealised fears in the dark forest of doubt, just as if it all was a 16-bit era console game. It's possible in Anodyne.

Anodyne tells the story of Young, a human who travells deep into his own mind. The deep storytelling has been paired with classic action-RPG Zelda-ish gameplay and absolutely gorgeous pixel art graphics. The detailed locations you explore are vibrant and compelling, the tale is intriguing, and the dreamlike music completes the experience perfectly. All adventure, RPG, and retro-gaming fans should enjoy this title immensely.

Begin your incredible adventure with Anodyne, complete with extra MP3 soundtrack, for only $7.49 on GOG.com! The offer lasts until Thursday, March 28, at 10:59AM GMT.
I know some people who will be happy about this.

Yawn

Doesn't look like it has anything special or interesting about it

The graphics and artstyle are ugly as well, another Indie game that tries to be "Retro"

You are a ray of sunshine!

The game is actually pretty creepy and abstract at times, which makes it very interesting.

It copies a lot from Zelda in terms of gameplay but it has its own personality too.
I like the artstyle and the gameplay seems to be my kind of gig but ugh, why oh why is it so pixelated? Throw in a HQx3 filter and I would be sold.

Just saying my first impressions

There are much better Indie titles to spend your money on, here on GOG
I'd heard this wasn't coming to GOG. Glad to see I had wrong. I might pick this up sometime but as I bought four RPG's in '5 games mix and match promo' I need to keep my RPS intake down for now.

That would just make the game's mediocre art look worse =/

Now, that's a fair point. I'm just suggesting you shouldn't completely cross out Anodyne.
It's got some interesting stuff going on in it.
I saw Jesse cox play some of this on youtube. thought it looked really good. well pick it up sometime, no doubt. and thanks for the mac version :)
Looks like just my kind of game, and the graphics are quite beautiful as well - which is not a requirement, but always a plus. I'll have to play this sometime.
Better graphics would be nice, but just yesterday I was thinking that I need to play some Zelda games again, especially Link to the Past (and OoT). So Anodyne's graphics aren't a turn off for me.

I'll just wait to know if the story is good before I settle on it, but it'll probably grace my shelf in the future.
This game is very charming and great fun (despite my issue with the jump mechanics later on). I think the $5.99 price point would have suited it a little better, but that's just my personal opinion and the perspective of a stingy and oversaturated gamer. After all, indie devs need to eat, too. And the soundtrack is really worth listening to, for the most part. :)

Anyway, noone in their right mind can honestly complain about the last release weeks. Two new indies and two old classics this week, and at least one of them eagerly awaited by large parts of the community. I also think that - although it might have been a coincidence - it is a clever tactic to release indies and oldies at the same time, as it happened today. Okay, the incurable naggers will still complain that they had hoped for a different oldie or a different indie, but the majority should be happy with getting both one oldie and one indie on release day, instead of having pure indie or pure oldie Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Glorious pixel art graphics, wonderful music, gameplay that doesn't involve moving a object to the center of the screen and clicking a button..... I'll definitely buy it sometime when my back log isn't so full.

I'd say it's more an experience than a story, it has a dream-like quality; don't expect an epic plot that makes a lot of sense, but the different levels to explore are quite original and rich in variety, and the dialogues and weird situations it puts you in might put a smile on your face, make you chuckle or even make you feel sad or uneasy occasionally. In the end, it's more about the gameplay, puzzle solving and exploration than about a "deep story", at least in my opinion. Don't go in with too high expectations in that regard; it's not that GOG is lying about it, but it's still marketing speech. You can make a case for it, but not everyone will be convinced. ;)
