No box this time?
The cost of making and shipping the box for our last game proved to be much larger than expected. We had intended to find alternative methods of making the box for Primordia, but after months of searching we failed to find any in time. So, we're sorry about that. This DVD edition will come in a snapcase like all our pre-Resonance editions.
Darn! There's no affordable box-making services in Europe? I'm getting into this biz, Resonance spoiled me, I want my WadjetEye boxed damnit!

Boxes are super expensive. Last time I pressed an album (in Russia), the cost of pressing, including the master copy, was less than the cost of transparent jewel boxes with a 2-sider and a back. We never went for digipacks because that way lay madness and Sparta. It kind of doesn't make sense to offer a product you can't break even on.

Starmaker: I've been throwing money at the screen since July. Sadly, the money just falls on the keyboard and that's it.
Amen. After spending time with the sublimely excellent Resonance, (as if Gemini Rue and The Blackwell Series weren't enough) I won't be able to click that "buy" button fast enough, let me tell you.

Austrobogulator: Sold. Lots of good adventure games this year.
Which other ones are you thinking of? Just want to make sure I didn't miss any :)
Argh, resolution mismatch!

On some scenes where the main character is smaller, the main character sprite is shrunk in such a way that it ends up with a higher DPI than the background... this is really ugly to me and makes the character look like they're not in the scene properly.

The game is still beautiful, but it's marred slightly.

EDIT:

Here's an example of what I mean: http://youtu.be/0YvWQi_5fsw?hd=1&t=23s

Make sure to watch it full screen HD. The main character is a much higher resolution than the backgrounds...

Yeah, that's something I've noticed with a lot of AGS games. It's annoying.
it has appeared in Greenlight now

Gemini Rue didn't do it at least... of course that was a totally different developer. It depends on how AGS has been set up. The best way (IMO) is to render the actual game at the resolution of the backgrounds and then scale that if necessary. Gemini Rue did this (the game's internal resolution was 320x200).

With Primordia it looks like the game is running at at least twice the resolution of the backgrounds, which means you get a mixture of big chunky (scaled) background pixels made of groups of 4 actual pixels and super sharp (by comparison) tiny sprites.
With any luck, I'll be able to pre-order this delightful game (hopefully the digital version is a GOG key), perhaps tomorrow, or Thursday. I want to order the DVD but I may just be able to afford the digital version.

I *think* the digital version will just be a BMT Micro hosted DRM-free download.

If we're lucky we might get GOG keys though. Buyers of the Resonance boxed edition certainly got GOG keys, not so sure about digital customers.

Ah, well here's hoping. Yeah I remember when I got the boxed edition of Resonance. Awesome and impressive box set.
I'm pretty sure Abe did a voice in Resonance too, though I can't remember who. I just remember him being mentioned, or even appearing, in the commentary. Anyway, I loved Resonance and see it was one of the best examples of writing and character development in gaming (and it actually had good puzzles rather than nonsensical, LSD-inspired McGuivering of random objects), so I'm really looking forward to this.

Hmm...I would have thought Steam would directly accept Primordia without putting it through Greenlight, since Steam has every Wadjet game (I think).

I like that. Reminds me of Stoyanka Ivanova's needlework designs.

It's also much better than software scaling (and much more practical than creating individual sprites for every possible scale). If you have Resonance (you DO have Resonance, right?), look at characters in the save slot screenshots.

Do people still need more proof that Steam sucks?
