Kolzig: It would've been a lot better if Jane Jensen would've just straight made GK4 instead of a cash grab Gk1 remake.
I wish you were right. But the reality is they dont have the resources (or the rights) to just make gk4 on their own. They have to convince activision its worth putting a lot of money into making a modern high budget sequel. Did you play moebius? They did that on their own and... imo it didnt turn out very well.
Still, i would not call this remake a "cash grab". Thats what id call it if it was a port using the original assets. This is a complete revamping of the game from head to toe. If they meant to do it as a way to grab cash... its an extremely inefficient way to do it.... Rather, they are doing it as a tribute to the original, and in hopes that it opens the door to signing a deal for gk4. Their hearts in the right place. But the remake does cause more problems than it solves.... and its hard to imagine it doing very much for a new audience.

One thing I hope is that this remake is taken as an opportunity to address any issues with the original game that remained after all official patching was completed. By this I mean mechanics, plot holes/inconsistencies, undeveloped characters, etc.

Not saying such things existed, only that this is a great opportunity to address them rather than just simply doing a 1-to-1 remake.
I've always just turned off the narrator.

Well, you can be sure that its not a simple 1-to-1 remake. Unfortunately, theyv altered the puzzle flow so heavily that it creates more problems than it fixes.
I'm a huge Gabriel Knight fan and I'm really happy to pre-order this. Looks great.

But I'm really hoping this does well enough when it's released that it renews interest in the development of Gabriel Knight 4. It's been too damn long and that cliffhanger ending from the last game needs a resolution.

Digging the exclusive pre-order soundtrack by the way :)
