Epic.

Eador: Masters of the Broken World, a fantastic turn-based strategy game of truly epic proportions and unmatched depth of gameplay and some RPG elements, is now available for pre-order on GOG.com, for only $19.99.

When you pre-order Eador: Masters of the Broken World on GOG.com, you get a free copy of its critically acclaimed predecessor, Eador: Genesis, or--if you already own it--a 10% discount on your price!

The world of Eador has long forgotten that it once was whole. The great mystical cataclysm that scattered its shards in the great empty void is but a legend passed from one generation to another for millennia. In this divided realm burns the fire of everlasting struggle for power. The majestic, immortal Masters of this strange lands seek domination over their peers and their mortal subjects. In a world so scarred, yet so beautiful and filled with life, you are one of those godlike beings who shape the history and fate. The quests that await you seem endless. The enemies--deem themselves unbeatable. The challenge seems impossible. Yet--you have an eternal existence before you, and only one goal: glory.

Eador: Masters of the Broken World is a long-awaited continuation to the phenomenal Eador: Genesis, a game dubbed to be the ultimate incarnation of the heroic, magical, and mighty turn-based strategy genre. The sequel improves the game's aesthetics dramatically, while retaining everything that the fans love about the gameplay. You will be amazed by the incredibly epic scale of the world you're destined to conquer. This game can easily consume you whole for countless hours, as its challenging gameplay, endless possibilities, and diverse world become your passion--or obsession. If you were to play one, and only one, turn-based strategy for the rest of your life--make sure it's this one.

Pre-order Eador: Masters of the Broken World, to get instant access to goodies that include a soundtrack, and redeem your free copy of Eador: Genesis--a game that alone takes way more 200 hours to play through. Or, if you already own it, you'll only pay $17.99 (that's 10% off!) to pre-order the upcoming Eador: Masters of the Broken World. The offer lasts approximately until Friday, April 19, when we expect to see the game's release.

Ask Developer a Question

The wonderful people from Snowbird Games have decided to spare some of their crunch time and answer some questions from the GOG community.

What do you want to know about Eador series?
Are you interested in the creative process behind creating fantasy TBS?
Maybe you want to know more about Snowbird’s future plans?

We will select the ten best answers from the comments below and send them to the developers of Eador: Genesis and Eador: Masters of the Broken World. In addition to that, three of the commenters below (selected randomly) will get a free $9.99 game
Not really interested in this pre-order offer since the new game is a remake (from what others said) of the original instead of a sequel or new installment but knowingly I'm supporting drm-free on GOG is already enough of an offer for me if not better than any other offer.

Even if the game turns out to be a disappointment, at least I feel better supporting drm-free on GOG and publisher/developer for selling the games drm-free that's also the reason I never pre-order anywhere else except on GOG if I have a slight interest in the game and this game Eador is 1 of it.

ArchonPC: But in this particular case, MotBW being a remake of Genesis and not a sequel
It's not just a remake, they're adding stuff other than graphics. See this post:

Look, I am not trying to convince anybody to get MofBW. I am just a fan and I am also biased since I started to play both Genesis and the beta roughly at the same time. Had I played with Genesis for a couple of years already, probably I would not be so eager to start the new game. I am just trying to clarify some misconceptions.

For example, the new kinds of World make the game very different. Please review the second youtube video ‘Let’s Play Eador:MofBW’, and you’ll see the difference. In the World of Sand, with a puny army and the clever use of the spell ‘fatigue’, the tester was able to defeat a nomad tribe army. Try that in a regular game and see what happens…

There are now a dozen or so new kinds of World, that means many more strategies to try out. And speaking of trying different strategy, the beauty of the new save system is that you can actually learn the game with no fear or selecting a path you would later regret. I don’t recommend to abuse the save and reload feature, I’d say that Eador is still at its best when you just accept the consequences of your actions. But if you are still learning, the save system is a bless. You can try any action, see the consequences, and decide if you want to go back. So, just these two features alone will give players a very different feeling. Once again, if you played Genesis for a long time and / or you don’t care or even like the new fancy graphic, well, then you probably don’t want to get MofBW.

Last consideration, still very important to me: buying the new game will support Snowbird Games. Not only they are already producing another very promising game (Caribbean), but I’d also really love for them to keep working on Eador: producing new content, supporting the modding community, and eventually start working on a true sequel. I enjoyed both Genesis and the beta for about 3 months now, and what did I pay? A few dollars for Genesis. Which, by they way, I got it back when I pre-ordered MofBW, a tremendous title that will keep me happy for months to come… for $20…. I paid $40 for Omerta, a game that gave me 'some joy' for roughly 40 hours… you do the math.
Really nice of Snowbird to take time and answer some questions. I love to read those articles.

Thanks on all the feedback, really looking forward to the game. I picked up the original, but unfortunately never got around to play it, so I'll just wait a few weeks for the remake.
Excuse my asking again, but my brain is kinda mushy right now... What is the incentive in pre-ordering, besides that 10% for owners of the original Eador? Is it going to become more expensive later on?
Hope this hasn't been asked all ready

Ask Developer a Question

How do you go about balancing your units? Is it mostly done in the design phase or playtesting? Do you run simulated battles with the units and then do adjustments based on the statisics that result?
Looks interesting. I'll be keeping an eye on this.
In terms of career paths, what is the best way to find one's self involved in computer games development, either as a programmer or as artistic talent? Not only what is the best kind of training to get, but also what should a prospective game developer expect to do in terms of relocation, innovation and associations? How important is it to the career path of a developer to hit shows, for example?

Thanks!

I'd like to know too. I don't even think you get beta access or anything.

You get a free copy of Eador: Genesis, if you don't have one already.
Question for the Developers:
Do you aim to make this game akin to the last games in the Heroes of Might and Magic Series, or more like the King's Bounty Series?
Game looks uber cool.
Thanks!

Imo, its better than both....combined. Yah, I said it!
Not saying those games are bad cuz they they aren't but Eador engages me in ways those 2 series never have and for me, its way more replayable too.

They probably intend to make this game akin to the last Eador game, Eador: Genesis. ;)

And just so I can actually say something helpful, it's more along the lines of Heroes of Might and Magic than King's Bounty.
