Real-Time Strategy redefined!

Divinity: Dragon Commander, an innovative fantasy real-time strategy game spliced with free-flight combat action, in-depth strategic view, and some trading card game mechanics, in which you become a fearsome Dragon Emperor, is available for pre-order 11% off on GOG.com. That's $39.99 until the game's release (planned for June).

What is Divinity: Dragon Commander? Imagine a giant army rushing into battle. First, the scouts, agile and fast, with their bows always ready. Then the cavalry, blazing on their relentless mounts. Then, the heavy infantry--warriors of all the shapes, sizes, and races with their plate armors sounding with every step like the bells of doom. Right behind them, the battle beasts--horrors bred with one purpose only: destruction. Some of them pulling the ballistas, trebuchets, and other siege machines. Above them, a variety of zeppelins and flying machines ready to spread death from above. And then, suddenly, a great shadow falling over the battlefield. A gigantic winged dragon swooping down at lightning speed, propelled by a jetpack, breathing fire and roaring fiercely. An image sure to strike fear in the hearts of the enemies. You, however, have nothing to fear. This is your army, and you are the Dragon, its commander and Emperor.

Divinity: Dragon Commander will allow the player to experience war from many unique perspectives, thus breathing new life to real-time strategy genre. The idea to put the gamer in the role of a Dragon commanding its people (and elves, and dwarves, and undead, and--well, creatures) into battle and even taking part in the combat directly is original enough to make things interesting. The people who gave you the acclaimed Divinity RPG series decided however, to add a couple more layers to the gameplay. In the game, you'll get to make diplomatic decisions, manage your empire in an epic world-map mode, and even utilize elements of trading card game mechanics. All that and more, coupled with excellent visuals, and many available scenarios (single-player and multi-player alike), has great chances to become a milestone in the evolution of RTS genre.

Don't hesitate--seize your empire now, to rule it with an iron claw soon! Pre-order Divinity: Dragon Commander for only $39.99 on GOG.com! The Divinity universe is about to get even more epic! Make sure you get to witness it from the start.

Fredd38: Dragons with jetpacks!!
Nothing else to say!
Ha!
Shared the game card on both Facebook and Twitter.

Will be sharing the Twitch video once uploaded to YouTube either by Larian's or GOG's YouTube account.
I didn't expect this game to be DRM free! That's a good surprise!

Tell me, what's the point of having a limited time 2$ discount on pre-order? It does not seem enough to push people to purchase, and makes you get less money from those who would have instant pre-ordered anyway.

Tpiom: I don't mean to be rude... but can someone explain the notion of pre-orders to me? You buy something and hope it's good...? Yes, you can get extras that you wouldn't get otherwise but what if the game is really, really bad.

At least on Kickstarter you support the game and if you don't pledge/pre-order it might not get made. Also, with your money it can reach your new heights (aka stretch goals). Not to mention you get development insight and in many cases, get to talk to the developers and suggest ideas and whatever.
It's pretty important for physical games, particularly niche titles or ones with limited print runs so the publishers have a better idea how many copies to print, stores know about how many they need to order, while ensuring the customers who want them are ensured copies.

It's less so for bigger games.

And it's pretty pointless for digital games. I believe some of the download clients let you preload the game before it's officially released which would let you play the second the clock rolled over to release day but that's kind of silly and pointless in the long run.

Charles.Surge: There's no Windows 8 listed on the gamecard,
Not compatible with Win 8. Bad for a new release.
GOG ask Win 8 for some new games, and then forbid for others.
With the Win8 promo (ended, 1st time I buy a Windows...), and SSZ needed the last OS, I won't buy Dragon Commander.

I'm looking forward to this. Looks really awesome !
I guess this is a great offer for those who are only interested in Dragon Commander and not interested in Divinity: Original Sin.

But you should definitely check it out, it already looks incredible, and you can get 2 copies of Divinity Original Sin + 1 copy of Dragon Commander + soundtrack + design documents + kickstarter exclusive items to the game + you can even write your own message on one of the trees in the forest which will appear in the final game for everyone to see!!! Everything only for $65, and you'll help Larian.
You will be able to choose if you want those games or STEAM or GOG.

It's limited however, only 1125 left, so don't hesitate ;). But if you want only Dragon Commander get it on GOG.

Looks interesting.. i just have no clue if i will like the gameplay..
Nowadays you can't trust even the best developer.
So, i will just wait this out and see the reaction after it is
released (and the fanboys have posted their part).

I believe you only get one single copy of original sin on that tier.

MaridAudran: Ha!
We had a little game around the office this week:
You take a movie title (or book title), that has the word "dragon" in it, and add "with jetpack", thus making it sound 10 000 times more awesome. Like:

Enter the Dragon WITH JETPACK!

How to Train a Dragon WITH JETPACK!

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon WITH JETPACK!

Etc. :-)

No, you'll get 2, trust me ;)

They can't change the description of the tiers anymore, so it's better to look at those digital / physical reward charts which are actual. It's on the home page of the project.

Funny they don't say it so on the tiers, as I would think that would have been planned... whatever.
I wish, somebody made a Dagon Commander.

You get two copies digital of Original Sin, and the Dragon Commander game for $65. I pledged for that tier. I was already going to pledge, and saw the extra game thrown in the $65 tier.
If you decide to pledge via kickstarter, double check you get the right one, there are 2 $65 tier pledges...The one mentioned, and the one for 2 copies of Original Sin (1 Boxed copy and 1 digital copy of Original Sin) but no Dragon Commander.

PS the $65 tier is the only tier under $500 with the Dragon Commander game thrown in. Not sure if it will be an add on later.
