I agree on 100%. A continuing lack of GOG's interest in a mere distribution of existing Linux packages and some of my backed games getting closer to a release made me thinking if it wouldn't be really better to grab Steam keys instead. I am not buying their explanation that there is oh so many distros and they need to offer support for everything. Yeah, just like they release a new game for all existing versions of MacOS and MS Windows.
I hoped GOG would have resolved this already somehow but I don't think it's a real option now. I want to receive the full reward, not just GOG-enabled bits.

if you were GOG and you saw how many major and minor distributions out there (and they do change over time) that there actually are compared to win xp, vista, 7 and Macos x, and the differences between the distributions, I'm sure its one of main reasons they don't support Linux.that and Linux gaming is a very small % compared to rest of gaming in general ;)

Way to go... like there is a huge % of macos gamers... (ios is another story). Anyway, MY MONEY at least, will go for steam/desura/humblebundle for any game that has a linux version already available or at least there are promises of it...

Is the first game better than the 2nd?

Definetely yes. It's far bigger, offers more characters, locations, riddles, playtime. The second one (Critter Chronicles) is some sort of addon, a little prequel, telling the origin story of two from the main characters of the first one. You can play both, but If you have (or want) to choose, then take the first one.

As far as I know, it's actually not significant. Steam has more or less same amount of Lin and Mac users and HiB shows that Lin users are customers who has a potential to buy at higher prices (i.e. bigger cut for developer/publisher and seller).
Although fairy tales irritate me, I don't really care what are reasons for not supporting this distribution branch. What I care as a customer is where I get the best service. GOG is sweet but they have been acting like local retailers who rather wait 5 years to see if something is profitable abroad and then decide to jump on the bandwagon. There are times I regret purchasing a game here due to this.
Anyway, I derailed the thread :). The sale was nice and convinced me to try these games.

I have already downloaded the first game and plan to play it as soon as there is a time for gaming :).

If you don't mind me asking how well does the humor of the game translate over to English? As an example I remember playing the first Edna game and I just felt like I was missing out on something.

I'm really very sorry, but unfortunately I can't say anything about the English translation, because I've never tried it. But the humor wasn't very subtle or "German", so you might assume it would be no great matter to translate it in another language.

I've found this English walkthrough on YouTube, the Reviewer is very excited and compares the game with the great classics from Lucas Arts:

Let's Play: Book of Unwritten Tales

To cover a large percentage of Linux provide a DEB, RPM and BIN or archive. That's how Desura does it. Steam only officially supports Ubuntu, but Linux users have it working on other distros. A lot of Linux games will make something work on Linux

Officially supporting Linux may be far off for GOG. What I am asking for is unofficial support for Linux for now. At the very least allow kickstarter projects to host the Linux versions here also. Maybe even allow new indie games to sell Linux versions here also.

The original GoG was in beta for 2+ years while selling to customers. GOG/Linux could be in beta for 2+ years while selling to customers.
