Man, I almost wish I could buy that RPG bundle all over again. What a deal. I probably should have seen it coming, but in the case of these games, as with the earlier Ultimas, I don't mind having mostly paid full price.

The open world RPG bundle has been claimed. Now I just need to find time to play the seemingly unending onslaught of CRPG games contained within.

Phaidox: I've said it countless times before and I'll say it again: The Book of Unwritten Tales is an absolute gem, please BUY IT.
It definitely is, but I would buy it on steam instead since you get the Linux version as well there.

grumblycakes: Right, but that's for the daily sale... I meant the sale in general. When does it end? July 4th 23:59 GMT? July 5th 23:59 GMT?
avatar
Shaolin_sKunk: July 5th, just before 1:00 PM GMT

Really just my best guess, though, it'd be nice if a cordon bleu could confirm.
Confirmed. :-)

Cordon bleu. Funny.

G-Doc: Your forum avatar is the Baldur's Gate skull, yet you don't see anything interesting in the RPG Open Worlds Bundle O_o

Odd world, we live in.

TheEnigmaticT: Yeah, really. I'd think that Avadon or Geneforge would be appealing to an RPG fan.
Not really.

I have Avadon, and it's kind of boring. The characters are nice, but the stories are all stereotypical and the gameplay is really, *really* slow. Falling asleep in the middle of fights slow, minutes-to-go-places slow. I got about halfway through and just drifted off because it didn't hold my interest. If the story wasn't completely predictable or trying to do things wasn't so frustrating I would have liked it better

I'm not interested in the Eschalon series for the same reasons, plus when I tried to play the demo the visual design seemed really busy to me. It wasn't easy to separate important bits from the background.

I do have Geneforge and Avernum, since it looks simpler and probably easier to deal with, but I'm waiting until I have a Windows tablet to play it because I don't think it's worth spending PC playing time on it. I have more interesting stuff to play when I actually have time to sit down at my desk.

mrking58: So you're a head in a jar (like from that popular sci-fi show futurama)
Basically, TET's become Herman von Klempt incarnate overnight, if I understand it correctly.
All these bundles are just repeats, I kept hoping for a freespace/descent bundle, but it would appear not to be... Sigh I wish I had known about gog before interplay got and jacked the prices up for both of those series... sigh.
RPG bundle is epic.
Eschalon 1,2, are absolutely fantastic indie rpgs. refreshing antipode/counterpoint to play after an elder scrolls or some such. Just waiting for Eschalon 3 release. Avernum, Geneforge, Avadon solid old school games, i respect what hes doing there, even if its time for a graphic update to the template. Unwritten Tales is a work of art. Its seems that the point and click adventure genre is experiencing a renaissance with smaller studios like Nordic (and Daedelic. check out whispered world and chains of satinav). own some of these but the price is good enough to jump on to complete the collection.

Dear GOG,
Thank you for these "repeated" bundles. I missed the longest day of the year sale so it is great to still be able to pick up all the discounts of that day.

I got it running on my Ubuntu 12.04 without any issue or extras beyond Wine.
Runs fine, brilliant game.

Critter Chronicles is worth playing for the laughs, but a few of the puzzles are a little out there. It had me reaching for a guide more then once.

GOG really really really needs to support Linux. Maybe not even 100% officially. I would be happy if GOG would just allow developers to piggyback a Linux installer on the download page.

I've backed several kickstarters that are also releasing a Linux version. Some of those will be releasing their games on Steam and GOG. I use Windows and Linux. I really do not want to take the Steam version over a GOG version. Since when does getting a Linux version require having to use DRM? :(

Steam and Desura support Linux. GOG really needs to try supporting it.

+1 I really liked the sneak peak that gave me a chance to budget and grab what I'd prefer when on sale rather than waiting and potentially being spent before something I'd prefer like today's RPG bundle comes up.
