Buenro-games: Thanks for both replys. I had kinda figured it that way and probably had ignored them because of that, but thanks for taking the time to confirm that. They do seem like good, fun games, just not my gaming style. Thanks.
If you're looking for adventure games for children, you might want to check out MiciosegoneGames and the "A Cat's Night" games in particular.
They're actually fun for adults as well and best played in collaboration (depending on the childrens' age).

EDIT: added the missed "in particular"

HypersomniacLive: Ok, I've never owned or played any of the Legacy of Kain games.
I did some reading on them and the story sounds very interesting, but I'm not much of an action games player, mostly because I get stressed out.

From what I've read, the games are classified as featuring elements of action (like a lot, I gathered), puzzle-solving and exploration. There was also mention of some RPG elements as well.

So, I have a couple of questions:
-- How important are the non-action elements for the development of the story and in what ways are they used to progress it?
-- Does one feel like there's balance among the elements or are the games strongly action-focused (like fight-fight-fight and once in a blue moon do something else)?
-- Would someone who's not good or a fan of action-focused games (as I've described myself) enjoy them?

Thanks ahead for any replies.
-Action elements aren't very important, IMO. If anything, they're annoying for the most part. Plus, you usually play as an immortal badass; specially with Raziel who will get sent to the spiritual plane if his physical body is destroyed, after which you can simply shift back into the material plane at full health. In Soul Reaver 1 combat itself is a bit of a puzzle, as vampires regenerate health and can only be killed through enviromental hazards (water, fire, sunlight, impalement).

- nah, you get some forced fights (specially on the latter games) but you usually can even ignore the enemies for the most part. As TrueRT mentioned, Kain's games tend to be more action oriented while raziel is the puzzle type, but you shouldn't fail at fighting the average enemy and bosses typically require figuring out the trick to defeating them rather than skillfull combat.

- The main point of these games is the storyline. Exploration and puzzle solving too on SR1, but there are much better games on everything the LoK saga does; be that combat, exploration or puzzles. You should play these games for the story, first and foremost. That said, most of them don't get interesting until past the halfway point, and I have a hard time convincing myself that playing them is better than simply watching all cutscenes on youtube.

As for the RPG elements? They're non existent. Unless you consider finding health powerups as RPG elements.

GreatNorthern: What do people think of Primordia? I'm still missing that and Blackwell from the Wadjet Bundle.
I absolutely loved Primordia, the atmosphere was fantastic, as was the writing. I wrote an in-depth review of it here:

Legacy of Kain pack is very tempting at this price.

011284mm: I own both of these bundles, the Wadjet Eye games are really nice in my humble opinion.
They are indeed. Gemini Rue is still my favorite. Definitely looking forward to the new Blackwell game that's coming later this year.
Thanks to both TrueRT and you for helping me out here.
The games do sound a lot less intimidating :-)

The story is what appeals to me. And up to your last sentence there, I was thinking that you were if favor of playing the games. But that youtube comment ...
At least I have a few more hours to make up my mind.

LOL, I don't.

Don't get me wrong, I love those games. It's one of my favorite sagas, the story is that awesome (for me). And you don't have to deal with those MASSIVE cliffhangers since you can buy them all together now. I remember going to the shop every day waiting for LoK:Defiance's release; the fucker was delayed for about a month. And a Soul Reaver is the only sword I've ever considered buying a replica of. I do recommend you play them.

However, how much of that recommendation is my own nostalgia, and will you get the same experience I did? Uncertain. Fact is, if you remove the direct exposition and mood setting, there are essentially 4 important scenes in all SR1. Is it worth to spend hours in game just for those 4 scenes, when you could watch them in youtube and spend that time playing a better game? Up to you. Getting those cutscenes yourself will make them more meaningful, that's for sure, but I honestly can't give you any more advice without going all fanboy "Raziel rules, play now now now now!" Just look at the intro, I never get tired of watching that. You know you want to play that game!

What I will tell you, though: since you (probably) don't have access to Blood Omen 1, read the story part of the manual. It's kinda lengthy, but totally worth it. The story gets convoluted, and you can use any info you can get your hands on.

Heretic777: Legacy of Kain pack is very tempting at this price.
I would go for it if I were you

Not only is this the cheapest possible price you can find online, this pack also includes the second Blood Omen, so in the end: This is much better than any deal which might come up for these games on Steam
I think it's a very crappy move of GOG to advertise 80% off on the main screen, says I only need to pay around 7 dollars to complete the bundle, then when I remove one item I don't need (because I already have the game on Steam) that costs 2 dollars I have to pay almost 13 dollars due to it just being 50% off instead now. And unfortunately, I didn't notice this until it was too late, and I payed more than twice the amount I wanted to.

Is there a way to cancel the order after it's been processed?

Maybe contact support?

Stooner: I don't remember having issues with that.. and I think this one is more of the uploader's fault..
but I was young and having fun, couldn't care less for that thing... ;p

excellent purchase you made, btw... ;p
Even if it's the game's fault I can still enjoy it, kinda in a Casseta & Planeta's "Fucker 'n Sucker" kind of way. It's bad, but it ends up being funny because of that. So thanks for the tip.

elmozg: I've played these games a few times, and in my opinion the best order to play is:

Blood Omen > Soul Reaver > Soul Reaver 2 > Defiance > Blood Omen2
I just reordered my shelf. Thank you.
Bah, I already have the Blackwell Bundle on Steam and am not interested in Resonance, but I do much want Gemini Rue. :(

Good idea, I just don't know if I care enough about 5 dollars to do that.

Although, I might have been a little harsh in my wording, I still think they should just stop having two different prices for one sale. It's just misleading, especially if they don't tell you on the main page.

Thanks for getting into more details, P1na.
I get it that you wanted to retain a level of objectivity in your first reply.
One of the reasons I like playing games is the element of interactivity that leads to a much more rewarding and satisfying entertainment experience than for example watching films.
The lengthy reading on the story won't be a problem either - I'm sort of a bookworm :-)

I was mostly concerned about the action part of the games, but if there's a good immersive story and atmosphere I can manage as long as I'm not required to skilfully fight my way all through the story.

I'll go now and watch that intro.

And so will I. I can't see that link and not watch again.
