Let me warn you only that this beautiful elegant game has a few bugs. But is otherwise. And while not to everyones taste the 3D remake (20th anniversary?)fixes them and adds online multiplayer. I grew up playing settlers 1, so its great to play an improved version of a game i dotted on.
Its a slow game but its magical.
ohoho
can we expect settlers one?
9.99 is too much for me right now, gonna wait for the promo's to buy!
Great game!
Any chance of seeing the anniversary edition here someday? :)
Never really gave this series a shot, I had some kind of demo but not the instructions on what to do with it. Shall consider it later, since it gets a fair amount of praise.
Never gave this series a shot myself - I may have tried settlers 1 in the days of yore, but I guess I may now have to look at giving this a try.
Shit!! I just bought a CD version, all scratched up because this was nowhere to be found here! AAAAAAAAH!

I'm hoping that Settlers 1 will be offered as well soon, and maybe the German version of those two games, as well :-)
Bought!, a true classic of a game.
quick question to anyone that has bought this...how is the map generator?
i remember someone creating one but it could only create the basic map layout and then youd have to fill it in with resources etc. wasnt really a true random map generator.
is that the case here? thanks for any info

??
the version which came on the cd allowed you to do anything you wanted. create lakes, rise mountains, plant trees, put rocks and other resources where you wanted them.
everything you could wished for.
maybe you used a demo version...
right, that is a map editor, but not a random map generator. Part of the fun of settlers is exploration, so if I'm creating a map and placing resources, that is not technically a random map for single player. I hope I'm clearly making the distinction of what I'm looking for.
The lack of a random map generator is one of The Settlers 2's biggest failings compared to the original (which, in turn, has one of the best random map generators I've ever seen, consistently making maps which seemed natural and fun to play).
This game brings me so many memories...
I think I'll buy it just for nostalgia.
Game i have been playing the most this week this game is a blast. Easy enough to get into you actually lose track of time when playing.
This is one of the true classics of 90s gaming.
