Free stuff this way! A considerable amount of added value has just hit Betrayal at Krondor, which from now on will be known as the Betrayal at Krondor pack and will include Betrayal in Antara, at no extra cost.

Betrayal in Antara is a role-playing game that uses an updated version of Krondor's engine. It isn't a sequel, however, as its story couldn't be set in Raymond E. Feist’s world of Midkemia, but in a complex, well-designed world of Ramar, created just for this game. The interface and mechanics, the familiar combat system in particular, are pretty much the same, which means they're very good. Finally, there are many memorable characters in this game, the story is complicated, in a good way, and keeps getting better as you go along. Overall, a solid, oldschool RPG that is definitely worth a try. Also, it's added to the Betrayal at Krondor for free!
Oh, really didn't see this one coming.

Thanks alot guys, redownloading the installer right now.

lackoo1111: this isn't a real " new release " , just a free upgrade :(
I disagree. It's a classic title that wasn't previously in GOG's catalog but has since had its rights purchased, its code optimized for today's operating systems and hardware, and then has been attached in a bundle to the game it imitated and attempted, succesfully at times, to improve upon.

I'd have purchased it (again, as I already own the game on CD-ROM and have since it was new in 1997) if it was a separate title, though not necessarily immediately.
HELL YES!

that's too good to be true! I was waiting for it and it's even FREE!!!
Buy Betrayal at Krondor if you didn't before!

Dragobr: Why is it not a new release? It's a whole new game. And a lot of people are getting it for free, while others will now get two games for the price of one.

It's *better* than a simple new release.
agreed :]

Something to consider getting again. I never ended up finishing Betrayal at Krondor, started it twice liked the gameplay but never had time to finish. Maybe I should pick this up you never know third time lucky as they say.
I'm hoping this isn't the only new release for the day\week. While free stuff is always neat and I do already own Betrayal at Krondor so I'll be taking advantage of this release, I am really hoping this week will give us a beautiful digital copy of Baldur's Gate 2...
Yeah, another release (real new game, not a bonus) would be good. As for me, I hope for NWN (to clear my conscience).

Yes, it's a good bonus for those who already bought Betrayal at Krondor. But it's also the exact same bonus for those who haven't bought Betrayal at Krondor yet.

I'm wondering if those who are complaining that this isn't a "new release" but just a bonus would have complained if Betrayal at Antara had just been released as a separate, full-priced game? Then it would certainly have looked more like a new release, even though they would just be putting up the exact same content as they are now - only on a separate gamecard.

The only difference is that now people that have Krondor get Antara for free. People who would have bought Antara as a separate game can still buy it, and get Krondor for free. Anyone wanting either game (or both) get something for free. But I'm still betting that there would be less complaints from people if GOG had gone the "less free stuff to the people"-route of putting Antara up as a separate release instead of this package deal.

The psychology of marketing and what looks like a good deal versus what is a good deal is very interesting.

Gosh, for the first time ever I've had a chance to get a game from you and I can't, 'cause I already own it!
Aww, just missed it :)
OK, I consider this a sincere apology for the PR stunt. Thanks GOG, now we're even. ;-)
