I just noticed the EA store has a 50% off sale today. I've been curious about the Mass Effect games now for a while, but I don't know if they're any good and/or if I would even like them. Any opinions on the games? Are the current prices ($10 each, $2.50 for Pinnacle Station, and $12.50 for Dragon Age) a good deal or should I just wait?
I haven't played DA, so I can't comment on that, but I enjoyed ME 1&2 immensely. I do prefer 1 over 2, as I think they did a lot of things wrong in the second installment (they appear to have deliberately set out to make some aspects of the game worse), but I still enjoyed it.
I love both. Especially Dragon Age:Origins. If you like Baldur's Gate then DA:O is the closest you will get to it these days.
They are both excellent. Think of Dragon Age as 3D Baldur's gate with a lot of blood thrown in for extra measure.

Mass Effect has a great story. It's one of the few FPS\RPG games I've enjoyed from start to finish. The controls are tight and the world is interesting. It's basically KOTOR minus the Lightsabres.

You can't go wrong with either game really.

There's literally thousands of threads and reviews for these all across the internet you could read.

In short: Mass Effect is good shooting and talking with some RPG elements. Dragon Age Origins is good Baldur's Gate style roleplayin though unspectacular while Dragon Age 2 is the same but with less polish, less story choice and faster combat.
Haven't played DA2, but ME1, ME2, and DA:O are all fantastic games that are absolutely worth buying.
Both epic games and must haves. I would get Dragon's Age Ultimate edition though to have all the DLCs as well (was on steam last week at 14.5 eur promotion :( )

Hmm.. so would I be better off to save $12.50 and just get Mass Effect and Dragon Origins? That would just be $22.50 then, instead of $35.

I have Sims Medieval right now, so I don't know when I might get a chance to play these. If I knew they would go down more in price at a later time then I would just wait.

This, but don't get suckered into DA:O on a console, that version blows. Make sure you're getting GOTY kind of stuff if you can. Pinnacle Station may be the only must have for ME, but ME2 had a couple good ones. DA:O's DLC was kind of meh according to everyone (didn't play any of it except for whatever DLC unlock came with the game new).

I Have to disagree I have DA:O Ultimate on my Xbox and it is a really good game, Absolutely not the best way to play DA:O But it is still a very good game on the console.
Thanks for the feedback. It's good to know they're decent games but I'm thinking I can wait until there's a good PC bundle for $20 (I'm thinking all mass effect games or all Dragon Age games and expansions for $20 each at Wal-Mart in a year or two).

Still, if I didn't have anything to play right now then I'd definitely get Mass Effect and Pinnacle station for $12.50.

I would wait for a promotion on Dragon's Age to get the Ultimate edition (if this is not the one made available on EA store). For Mass Effect .. I think you can go for it now, Steam also had a promotion for this recently so you won`t see it again there any time soon.
There's always the possibility of GOG. Mass Effect aint no spring chicken. xP

And I could get the ultimate edition for $20, since it's half off all direct downloads, as long as you buy at least 2 different things.
EA store Europe sells DOA Origins at 30 eur, Mass Effect at 10 eur and Pinnacle Station at 5 eur.. that's like 64$. Getting all this at half the price sounds pretty darn well :)
Hated Dragon Age, but I guess I'm just crazy. Mass Effect is awesome, but the DLC is a rip off, wouldn't recommend it. One thing my friends arent doing with ME2, beat ME1 first. It's worth it.
